Over the past decade, I have contracted Duffy Construction for three major remodeling projects at my home away from home on Cape Cod.The first project Duffy Construction completed for me was a redesign and major interior remodel that transformed the cookie cutter 1400 sf cottage I had just acquired into a charming and cozy Cape Cod home with authentic interior and exterior details. Two bathrooms were completely reconfigured and updated with custom design elements (custom tiles, walk in shower, teak cabinets and wainscoting) and the interior layout of the first floor (living area, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom) was changed for better flow and optimal space utilization. The heating system was converted from electrical baseboard to forced air and central AC was added to the system. The kitchen was updated and reconfigured. Hardwood floors were installed throughout the entire house, doors and windows were added/replaced, and custom trim and baseboard was installed on all interior doors, windows, floors and on the exterior doors. The upstairs bedrooms were also reconfigured for space. Further, major updates were made to interior plumbing and the electrical system. Shortly after completion of this project I contracted Duffy Construction for an exterior remodel that replaced and upgraded the existing exterior decking. A larger deck was attached to the backside of the house, the access door was replaced and redesigned, drainage and weather sealing improved. An outside shower stall and a large seating area were seamlessly integrated into the design of the new deck. The third project, completed recently, was a combined exterior and interior remodel. New cedar siding with custom Cape Cod detail was installed, the roof refinished, and exterior trim repaired. Large dormers were installed on the front side of the house and the upstairs bedrooms were made larger by moving the front/rear walls to utilize previously unused crawl space. All windows on the front and on both sides of the house were replaced, two standard bay windows were replaced with custom boxed out windows with custom cedar shingle roofs. To say that the transformation of the house was dramatic would be an absolute understatement.I highly recommend Duffy Construction to anybody who is interested in designing a true and authentic Cape Cod home and work with a general contractor who is absolutely reliable and does quality work with commitment and pride. Brian takes a lot of time to talk to his clients. He doesn’t start a project until he is sure he understands what you want and that he can deliver. Over the course of my three projects, Brian has saved me a lot of pain and money by always finding the best solution for my design ideas. Countless times he – politely but firmly – told me what NOT to do, only to always find a better way to get me where I wanted to be. Brian is a wonderful craftsman. The quality of his own work is impeccable and when and where his own skills don’t meet his sky high standards he will only ever work with top notch subcontractors. Brian has always executed my projects on time and perfectly on budget, even under the most challenging conditions (such as a global pandemic). He is a passionate expert on authentic Cape Cod design and tastefully executes such designs both on the inside and the outside of your home. Brian pays attention to the smallest detail and communicates with his clients in a very effective manner which greatly benefits clients who, like I, don’t live in close proximity to their construction projects. We sold our 2800 sq ft homeand and moved to our 1100 sq ft ranch on the Cape. We contracted with Duffy Construction to increase the size and add a garage, deck, storage shed, new roof, new hardwood floors, windows, kitchen update. Brian's design recommendations were spot on. He is truly a quality builder and a person of ultra high integrity. Anyone fortunate in contracting with Duffy Construction will certainly enjoy the experience and outcome

I have worked with Duffy construction on three projects over the years. The cost of the projects were competitive and custom. They are very easy and friendly people . I have a family and they blend well with our home. They are very respectful of our space while we are home if they are on the job. I trust the Brian and his company to guide us through the process.

My wife and I, after living in our house for some many years, finally decided we needed to make some changes. We had a number of projects that needed to be done, so we called Duffy Construction. We had them put in all new windows throughout the house, tilt in easy clean Pella windows with grille inserts, trimmed inside and out. Came out perfectly. We also had old sun aged cedar shingles on 2 sides of our house that needed to be replaced. They also did that. Plus the front of the house was clapboard so that got replaced when the windows got done. We were very happy with their work, so asked if they did roofs because ours was 25 years old and sure enough, no problem, new roof got put on including a ridge vent and soffit vents to make the attic vent more efficiently. That was the maintenance stuff that needed to be done. These items all got completed efficiently and correctly.We didn’t stop there. When Brian, the owner and main contractor, was here, we showed him a very useless side entrance that was done by a previous contractor. It was barely a dog house 5ft by 4ft jut out the side of our dining room. We had wanted a mud room, somewhere to take off your shoes and coat, room for a seat…..the current situation had a door pointing to the side yard with no room for even a bench to take off your shoes. Totally useless. Long story shorter, Brian went to the town, check to see how many feet from our plot line we needed to be to build legally. He came back with a plan to completely rebuild the useless dog house. Found out he could build a 7ft by 11 ft tiled mud area, with a door facing out the front of the house. What a perfect solution. That is what is great about Brian. He listens to what your needs are and does everything in his power to give you what you want and more. It came out perfect.Then we had one more change we wanted to make. We had originally had a 3 season screened in porch in front of our, then, dining room. We asked if it was possible to close it in and make it tight to the weather. He went right to the town building inspector, explained what we had and asked what the town would want to bring it to code as a closed in addition on the house and took care of that project completely. New floor, more matching windows, an opening transom window, so a couch could be put underneath. Very thoughtful with his designs. Asked us all the way through all projects, if there was anything special we might want and if he had an idea while he was doing something, he would discuss it with us and then would act accordingly.Through all these different projects, we never had a problem of any kind. His work shows that he takes pride in what he is doing and his goal is to make the client as happy as he possibly can. I can’t say enough good things about Duffy Construction.
