I know what you're saying. I want to fix a leak in my garage roof. Permits for $300. For three different inspections. And they wanted my contractors to stop and wait and call them in between each.... Then again, I bought this house with add-ons and supposedly a new roof. THEY don't have no records to prove...OR permits pulled on none of it... Which made me have to pay out-of-pocket what should have been an insurance claim.. like I said I try to do things right man but when it becomes a major hassle. I understand why people don't... But my God I had wood for a deck and every time I just move the wood I had inspector pop it in my house.And trust me the deck is a whole nother story with them... Wanted to put up a fence cuz I got nuisance neighbors.. call them to make sure I put it in the right place and getting permits... And the way my property is I couldn't have not one of them stopped by to make sure I was doing it right.... But then again that inspector can stop by my house and harass me three times just cuz I move the wood..... They definitely make it hard.... And they most definitely can be rude and unprofessional..... And to think our tax DOLLARS PAYS THEM.....JS but then again my neighbor behind me can Barry hazardous materials and they won't even come check... And just in case you safe Built employees read this.. it's documented so if my well or the lake gets contaminated across the street, Done told you who's responsible.... Now it's public....

Drove 45 minutes out there to be told the only formal payment they take his check no cash no credit card. Also, the ladies at the front counter want me to get a window permit for replacement windows so that they can come out and inspect the flashing on my replacement windows?????

, not only can they not accept credit card payments or cash payments they cannot accept face-to-face inspection request in fact if you get the lady on the phone who schedules the inspections she will tell you to hang up call the 1-800 number for the second time leave a second message and then she'll schedule it you can call her back to confirm with her this place is a joke

The Lawrence office is completely rude, disrespectful and not helpful in anyways. Doesn't return calls. Gives out wrong information then holds up permits for their error without even notifying you. We had to call and find out why it wasn't going through and they were soo rude for their own error

Super disorganized and rude. I called them requesting permits for moving my mobile home into a park. They sent me forms I didn’t need and forgot to send the ones I did. Then when I called them to ask about the plumbing and mechanical they were incredibly rude and would not answer my questions. I called my contractor and they said they would do it, they were letting me pull them to save myself money and time. The safe built lost the forms from the contractors. The building permit they charged me for a $55,000 project when the mobile home is only worth $8,000 and the project cost less then $5,000.

Terrible. They are rude, unorganized, and go out of their way to cause issues. They will use many tactics to make more money in fines and fees.

Staff forgot to submit plans causing over a week in project delay. Changes to approved plans were not provided causing more delay and financial cost due to conflicting information. Communication between staff very poor. Was required to call the office multiple times because staff forgot to send information or didn’t not contact me at scheduled times. Requested clarification for inspections and no one could provide any information. Office staff stated sheathing was not required for framing inspection, but this is incorrect. Very disappointed and frustrated with their services.
