Updated 4/3/24 (Long read)(original review) The speed of the work was good. Their speed leaving was understood when I began looking at the roof. There is visible damage to the fascia and exposed wood. (All of this is clearly visible from the ground.) They also broke through the ceiling in my hallway. They offered to have someone come and quote it, but told me to "tape some cardboard over it for now" and left me to clean up the mess. During construction, my back flood light was broken. I was told "We don't fix those. We'll take $80 off your bill because we don't pay for anything super expensive either.". So they paid for a mid range flood light (that I need to go purchase) and told me to fix it myself.I was referred to them from a coworker, but if this issue is not remedied, I would not think of referring them to anyone.(Update: end of March) Chris was very quick to have me fill out the review so he could get his "incentive" for it.Chris called me after I posted the original review to complain that he felt I "blasted" him. He tried telling me that my complaints were all cosmetic. They had a repair tech come out to fix most of the issues on my roof. I still have damaged facia, a GAP between the facia and drip edge and a corner of my roof that is moveable by hand (it isn't connected to anything). When having to replace J siding, because the original crew threw it out, Chris returned with a color about 5 shades too dark and when the repair tech pointed it out the response was "I'm not going to drive all over town to find the right color." They did have someone come out almost 2 weeks later to patch my ceiling.I've reached out to their management team numerous times over the last 2 weeks, but they will not return my calls. Yesterday I was contacted to schedule having my gutters put on and when I told them the roof needed to be finished first, they promised that someone would call me first thing this morning.(Final update) No one called me, so around 1:30 pm I just showed up to their office. I had someone out the next day to finish repairs. Their repair tech, Mike, was fantastic explaining how and why he was doing everything he was doing. It made me feel at ease since the primary crew didn't know what they were doing.My gutters were put on today. I had one spot that was clearly discussed as the downspout going into the driveway, they angled to toward the foundation. The other spouts were jammed into the ground and not given any clearance. I will be fixing this myself because dealing with this company has been more of a stress than it's worth. I've actually developed an ulcer during this ordeal.I chose this company because I was promised a high quality, 1 day install. I did not receive either of those (the quality is terrible and the roof took over 2 weeks to finish). As far as I'm concerned, they have violated their end of the contract. I'm at the point where I'm going to report them to the BBB and my home owners insurance for damages.The reply to this review is the only apology I've gotten in regards to this fiasco. I've not been compensated for my time or the work I will have to put into repairing their mistakes, myself. Did they fix most of their mistakes? Yes. Did it require me hounding them on a regular basis to get it done? Yes. Did it take almost a month to finish a job they promised would take 1 day? Yes.Would I refer them to anyone else? Absolutely not.Save yourself the time and stress and look for a more professional office team (Ronnie was great with dealing with my concerns), and a more experienced crew.

Didn't keep their promises, like did not finish in one day, and I collected over 100 nails! Plus we ended up discovering a roof leak that we hadn't had before. They did come back and cleaned up their mess and fixed the leaks, but why should we have to complain to get what was promised? We paid more for the job because of the promises made, and they dropped the ball!

couple spots don't look right..was told to let them "bake in"...but disappointing none the less..the got whole roof done in about 6.5 hrs...so maybe they rushed...that's from when they got here till they left..i just have to wait to see if it bakes in.

The crew was fast and efficient. They completed the installation of my roof in under 4 hours. However, the ceiling was damaged when one of the workers stepped through. As of this posting the ceiling has been repaired and it looks great. I highly recommend Mr Roof to everyone that needs a roofing replacement. Great job!

Mr Roof seemed reputable but after reading their recent google reviews, I became concerned. The quote we received for gutters was $1k more than 2 other companies and did not include gutter screens or the underground drainage system like the others... Salesman was nice and professional.

Roof was done quickly and correct. The site foreman Chris did use our personally rented dumpster to dispose of his household trash and brand new materials still in packaging. The issues arose when it came time for soffit/facia. They were done quickly and poorly. Multiple pieces had horrible dents and bends. We called and complained to which they said they would send someone out to talk with us about the issues. They did not tell us when they would be here and showed up a few weeks later at 9am. No one knocked or looked for the owners. They walked around the house twice and left. A few weeks later some people came out to fix the issues. They had no idea what they were there to fix and did not speak English for me to explain to them. They fixed one piece and left. The brand new drip edge from the roof is all bent around the house from the facia replacement. The people who came to do the gutters were amazing. The salesman was your typical salesman. Said anything to get you to sign the dotted line then was no further help. We went with Mr Roof even though they were not our lowest quote but because they seem to pride themselves on customer service and work quality. None of which were found during our repairs. Would highly recommend finding another quote and company. You will be left out in the cold with a huge bill and regret.Services: Gutter installation, Roof installation

Showed up on time for the estimate and did not go overboard trying to sell me something I didn't need at three times the price with an "Act now" attitude. Very polite and professional. +2 stars (2)Listened to my concerns and didn't rush to a sales pitch like another guy did. Matched a quote I had already received, explained the warranty in easy to understand terms, and worked with us to line up payment. +1 (3)Estimator did not inform crew dropping off materials that there was a power line crossing my property. +0 because it was a ways out, and the crew had to hump it up ladders by hand (3)+1 for the crew, except for the noise, hardly knew they were there. (4)And +1 for doing it on a Saturday. (5 stars)-1 for wrecking a screen on the back of my house, and not saying anything to me about it while onsite. Shingles rip through screens, if you did not know. I'll add the poor job of cleaning up to this negative star as well. Lot of nails around the house. Spilled gasoline in my driveway which left a nice stain on the asphalt, and apparently the crew eats a lot of peaches, because the pits are everywhere (4 stars)-1 for the workmanship on the front of the house. Nails popping right through the flashing were not corrected. That looks ugly, and I can't imagine anyone is coming back out to do any quality control, so I am stuck with it. Overall the flashing looks like it was just thrown on, and takes away from the aesthetic the new roof should provide (3 stars)Would recommend and would use again, but I would make sure to be home throughout the entire install and call out every item before they departed.Service: Roof installation

Enjoyed working with Derek Rynberg, who hooked me up with a premium roof and roof ventilation! The installation crew did an excellent job with the shingles. I think they made errors with the ventilation portion, but it almost worked as advertised. I experienced ice dams below the lower ventilation slots, which were 3 feet above the eaves. Otherwise, I'm very happy with the work. Nails and trash were picked up all around the house.

My husband and I decided to go with the Grand Rapids Mr. Roof team after meeting with 3 other roofing companies. They were the only ones to really walk us through all of the products as well as the process. We were especially excited that they did gutters as well. Our sales person instantly sold us with his knowledge and comments about his reputable crew that would get the job done quickly, efficiently and respectfully. Mind you, our roof and gutters turned out great (1 star for that) but our yard was a disaster. Our garden beds both in the front and the back were trampled, our shrubs were broken in half, flowers snapped and ground cover unsalvageable. On top of it, there were beer cans in the dumpster. I called and complained about the state of the yard. Our sales man apologized and said they would be informing their supervisor and they would get back to me. This was over the 4th of July so I understood it would take a few days for them to get back to me. After many calls, texts and emails to the company, I did not get a response until July 13th. I explained the damages and was very upset that the crew thought it would be ok to drink on the job while climbing all over our roof. I even brought up the fact that our salesman made the point that he has passed by jobsites done by other companies where the crew is drinking on the job and that you would NEVER find Mr. Roofs crews doing that. The woman I finally got ahold of said that "maybe the cans came from their vehicles". Regardless, empty beer cans should never be on a customers property by the crew. That is unsafe and very disrespectful. I had my security camera rolling in my front yard while they were installing and saw that they put a tarp over the garden beds but let the old roof material pile up directly on top. I informed the company that the least they could do was pay me $1000 for repairs. I am not sure if any of these beds are salvageable at this point. They said that they have never paid $1000 for damages and the best they could do is $300. They said a check should be received no later than August 8th. I have called 2 times already, no response, no check. It is August 16th. What a scam. Do not go with Mr. Roof in Grand Rapids, MI.Services: Gutter installation, Roof inspection, Roof installation

Mr Roof had the cheapest price out of about four or five companies we got quotes from. The salesman, Nick Gelock, was a pleasure to talk with and work with from the beginning of the process, he was extremely knowledgeable about roofing types, costs, and what would work best for us. The materials were delivered right on time, the crew was here to work in a timely fashion. The roof looks great, the crew worked fast, were extremely friendly, and had the job done within about 7 hours from arrival. I’d definitely recommend Mr. Roof for anyone’s roofing needs.

I would never recommend this companyI've been trying to get some warranty work done on a small leak since September. People don't show up when scheduled. Don't return phone calls and are really frustrating to deal with.First person came out to look at the issue when I wasn't here. No followup phone call. I had to call them, and was told my roof looks great. 3 weeks later same person came when I was here and discovered several issues, then he was sick, then he was on vacation, then he no longer worked for the company. That person doesn't actually fix anything, just assesses the situation. He did send a report to the main company before leaving their employ but nobody reached out. Now another 3 weeks later a person contacted me to set an appointment for today, didn't show up, didn't call. I texted and finally received a text back telling me he is sick today and couldn't go to work. Sounding familiar like the 1st person I dealt with.My roof is under warranty, so they sort of have me over a barrel. I suppose next I will contact the state attorney generals office and file a complaint. Do not use this company!

I contacted Mr. Roof for a consultation about just doing a few patchwork places on my roof as requested by my home insurance company. In the initial visit, I asked for photographs of before/after to send my insurance company. The rep was polite and professional and convinced me they could do this job without a problem.When someone called to confirm the roofer appointment, I asked about photographs and was assured they would take them.After the roofer left, I took my own photo of one spot that still looks unpatched. I contacted the company by email, by text, and by phone with the contact numbers I was given. I was told repeatedly that I would get photographs. A month later, I still have nothing to send to my insurance company and no proof that any actual work was accomplished.The presentation of professionalism BEFORE compared to AFTER with the service I have received is really frustrating.

I’m giving a generous 3 stars based solely on the work performed by the roofing crew. I hired Mr Roof to replace my roof and fix various trim dents and holes as a result of recent hail storms. I used Mr Roof nine years ago to replace my roof and was very pleased with that experience. However this time I wasn’t very impressed. First of all when you’re quoted a timeframe of completion, you need to double the actual time of completion. The estimate of work completion date was one primary reason I chose Mr Roof over other competitors. The biggest problem is dealing with the office staff and management. I’m not sure if they are extremely disorganized or just incompetent, but either way they are not doing a remotely acceptable job.I never received itemized quote documents or documents needed to forward to my insurance company for necessary paperwork after numerous requests for these items. I believe there’s better options out there to hire that don’t add to the stress of repairs.

We chose Mr Roof to replace our roof because we had a little bit of a leak.On the plus side, they were fast.But we found out their speed was because they were doing a shotty job. 1) Many places they didn't overlap the ice & water over seams of the roof and put shingles right on the decking with no protection layer between.2) They didn't seal the chimney, and you can see daylight through where the roof meets the chimney.3) They replaced the roof vents with ridge vent (ok, industry standard, so that's not bad if done right), BUT they never opened up any of the ridge decking to make the ridge vents function.4) They did not put in soffit baffling in the under the decking. So there is no air flow in the attic other than on each end of the house from when built 130 years ago.5) As said before, they replaced the old roof because of leaks. Our new Mr Roof roof leaks WORSE now than before we had our roof replaced, and now have damage in out interior.Finally:6) THEY DESTROYED ALL OF MY FLOWER BEDS AROUND MY HOUSE. By taking no care at all in wherebthe dumped the tear-off waist. An 8 year old bush that was a feature in our wedding and planted by our side door was ready to be a giant record breaker of a chrysanthemum bush this year is now reduced to tiny twigs.DO NOT Go with Mr Roof if you value your home.

I hired Mr. Roof to do a complete tear off of my existing roof and to install a brand new roof on my single family home located in Kentwood Michigan. Mr. Roof representative mislead me into believing they had followed protocol by obtaining a building permit before tearing off the old roof and installing the brand new roof .The roofing job was done in July 2021. I found out in August 2021 that Mr. Roof never pulled a building permit for my roof. When I contacted Mr. Roof for an explanation they claimed they were told by the City of Kentwood that a building permit wasn’t necessary for a complete roof tear off and new roof installation.When Mr. Roof gave me their poor explanation for not obtaining a building permit for my roofing job, I contacted the City of Kentwood’s building inspectors and was advised that a building permit was required for my roofing job. I then demanded that Mr. Roof obtain a building permit immediately.As of today’s date which is September 21,2021, Mr. Roof has failed to correct the identified building code violations with my roof installation. I’ve contacted the general manager Zach Comer and the Corporate office for over two months and have been given the run around .Based on my experience with Mr. Roof I find that their company is incompetent, they don’t follow building code guidelines, they make promises to complete contracted work and then fail to meet their contractual obligations.Mr. Roof sent a representative to my home today to complete the building code violations, instead of the Mr. Roof representative completing the building code violations with my roof that they installed,The Mr. Roof representative was rude and unprofessional with me because I advised him that I wasn’t comfortable allowing him to work on my roof in flip flop sandals .The Mr. Roof representative was also told by Building Code inspectors from both Kentwood and Grand Rapids that he could not work on the roof with our proper footwear , as it was against OSHA regulations. The Mr. Roof representative got defensive saying he had over 20 years of roofing experience and always did roofing work in flip flop sandals. In the end the representative from Mr. Roof got angry and refused to change out of his flip flop sandals and ultimately decided he would not correct the building code violations with the roof .I would not recommend anyone use Mr. Roof as they are rude, unprofessional and act like they are exempt from following mandated rules and regulations.I’m really curious to know how many other Mr. Roof customers have had roofing jobs done that required a building permit, but Mr. Roof failed to get the building permit ?Let all homeowner be very cautious when dealing with Mr. Roof. Make sure to check with your local building code department to make sure they pulled a building permit before allowing them to work on your home.I feel Mr. Roof really took advantage of me and are now refusing to give me refund or even correct the code violations to my roof .I’ve paid Mr. Roof my hard earned money and now they are treating me like a second class citizen . They have breached our contractual agreement and aren’t offering me any compensation or acceptable resolution to this matter .They say a photo is worth a thousand words. Looking at this photo, would you trust someone to work on your roof if they came wearing flip flops and refused to take them off ?Would you trust a company that is dishonest with you about obtaining a building permit for your roofing job?Before hiring this company, ask yourself if you desire to spend your precious time begging and pleading with a company to correct building code violations and other breach of contract issues ?As a homeowner, how would you feel if you had an unresolved concern, and contacted upper level management/ the company corporate office for months and they ignored your email messages and telephone calls ?This photo says a lot about the type of company Mr. Roof is and the type of people they hire to represent their company. Nick was professional and personable. He provided several options for a new roof. He also showed us how they build the roof. The time of agreement to installation date was less that two weeks. A crew came early and completed most of the work. Issue with the size of replacement skylights and framing but problem was discussed and they completed the job with a week. We are happy with the services provided. Kudos to Nick who went the extra mile (time and discussions). We would recommend Mr. Roof.Service: Roof installation

Nick Gelock was very helpful about what we needed and could afford. Great customer service, and very Veteran friendly. Crew were fast, courteous and respectful. They went above and beyond with clean up. Chris was very helpful with my additional questions. Even when a small issue arose with the drip edge, they communicated quickly and efficiently.
