The Murray Hotel has incredible staff. The staff is friendly, welcoming and professional. The desk staff truly have great personalities and give each guest a smile while explaining the hotel’s policies. The hotel is located on Main Street a few steps from the Mackinac Island Fort and marina. There are restaurants and shops right out the door. On the patio of the hotel you can sit in rockers and watch the horses 🐎 and bicycles 🚴 for hours. The rooms are clean, yet smaller than some hotel rooms. The rooms are comfortable, there are no coffee makers ( coffee is available in the lobby), no refrigerators ( the hotel will put your leftovers in their freezer/ refrigerator for no charge, which I truly appreciated. The lobby has a great fudge shop and a Mexican restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch. We loved the hotel and will return. The only problem we encountered was on 10/12/23 a group of women who were staying across the hall entered the hotel after midnight making loud noises, giggling and slamming doors. This was not the hotel’s fault but it was difficult to go back to sleep with laughing hyenas across the hall. Since there are no “ house” phones it was difficult to alert the staff ( my cell wasn’t near me)It’s a wonderful hotel.

Had a wonderful stay at the Murray Hotel. Luggage was brought straight to the hotel from the Ferry. All staff were friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and cozy. Very cute hotel right in downtown. The roof top outdoor hot tub is perfect for October!Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay on the island. We will definitely stay again when we are on the island again. The fudge is great too!Rooms: Room was great. Brings you back in time in a good way! Clean and cozy.Walkability: Right on the Main Street of downtown. Perfect location to everythingFood & drinks: Fudge is great!

We love to stay at The Murray Hotel! The rooftop hot tub is great after a day of walking around the island, shopping and exploring. We love to eat at the hotel restaurant for both breakfast and lunch! The burritos and burrito bowls are wonderful. The staff are always friendly and helpful whenever you need anything and even if you don’t.

We had an awesome stay! The rooms were clean & big enough for us. The little Mexican Cafe downstairs serves a good breakfast & lunch plus the in-house fudge shop & occasional donuts were a daily sweet treat. The location is perfect for those coming off the Starline ferry but they have porter service from both ferry options. The owner was very nice & welcoming. I would definitely stay here again in the future!

Centrally located in the heart of Mackinac main street. Keep in mind, these are historical streets/buildings/establishments, the room we stayed in is charming, historical but still very comfortable. It smells fresh and sheets are clean. The dining area is also welcoming and endearing 😀. The experience on this island so far had exceeded my expectations indeed. When you plan your next trip anywhere, in the country or abroad, you should consider visiting this amazing American Town/history 💯🇺🇲🎉🤩🏡⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

First time staying the night on the island and the Murray Hotel set the bar high. Great staff all the way around. Easy online reservations & they even called to confirm things I missed. The room was cozy but was everything we needed and hoped for. Our 30th wedding anniversary couldn't have better memories. A great place and their fudge IS the creamiest on the island!

Our stay at the Murray hotel was just OK. The luggage from the ferry came right to our room, which was great. The hotel was right across from the ferry docking. The hotel was clean and the staff was relatively friendly. We had a patio room, and it was very small. The other issue about a patio room is any patio room has windows facing the hot tub and the party area. So from 9 AM till 10 PM we heard country music and a lot of laughing and celebrating. Which is fine for those folks, but not for the people in the rooms next to them. The hotel was clean the bath towels were thin, small and very rough. For the price we paid it was a disappointing stay.

Rooms very clean, & comfortable but could hear lots of noise from nearby rooms above & beside, so if peace and quiet is what you need, pick a different hotel. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Our room didn’t get fresh towels one day but we just called & they were happy to bring some up. Our room had two queen beds, but no microwave or mini refrigerator, that would have been handy. The Mexican restaurant in the hotel was good. The pictures on there web site are very accurate. It is a very nice place. It’s right in the heart of town, close to everything/anything to eat, shopping, the Fort, the Carriage rides, bike rental.

I want to start by saying I get this is an old hotel w/ an antique aesthetic. I understand some rooms will be small due to the nature of the building, but we were put in a hardly manageable space for two adults and a toddler. For a one or two night stay for two adults- small but fine. Add a toddler for a 6 might stay? Pretty terrible. The furniture was “antique”, but seemed easily breakable & didn’t want to sit on the chair. Dresser was broken, nightstand wobbly. Bathroom was “updated”: disappointing. We were in two different rooms & neither bathroom door closed. Shower only, no tub. If you want a fridge or microwave, you have to ask the front desk??? Not sure what that means, there is no space to put it in the room so I would assume someone else would be handling storing my leftovers. The location was great! There is a facial soap bar, but no “hand soap”. There is a small shampoo provided, but no body wash or conditioner. Those amenities would be helpful & minimal expense for the cost. The staff was… okay. Not overly happy or helpful, but not mean I guess. My parents (2 adults) stayed in a room down the hall & the room was SO much bigger- even had a tub. I just don’t understand why the Hotel couldn’t let us know that the accommodations would be tough w/ a two year old. We checked in, they saw us and our stuff. Ultimately, you have to go in w/ low expectations & understand you are *only* paying for location. No frills or extras.Rooms: Antique ambiance but not in a good way. Need to be very clear about booking a larger room for more than two people. Not every room has bathtub. Bathrooms are “upgraded” poorly. The excuse of “antique” style is unacceptable for the run down rooms, common areas, and minimal amenities.Nearby activities: Right on main street, so shopping, tours, food, walking trails all right there.Walkability: Excellent location to walk all around.

The location is great - directly across the street from the old Star Line (Now Mackinac Island Ferry Company) dock. It's just a bit down from Douds which is also super convenient. We went in off season, and were able to get a room early (about 1pm). I didn't see it advertised, but they had free donuts (8am...though they also had them out in the evening) and coffee (24hrs) which was great. We didn't try the restaurant (Mexican) but it looked good. Their in house fudge was really delicious, and quite fancy! The room we had was decent sized. We'd definitely stay here again.

I stayed in room 324 overnight on the island. The room was rather small, but it was cute! Bathroom looked extremely new, but the shower was a little confusing. It uses a dual knob system, with one controlling temperature and the other controlling water flow. Amenities were stocked. Unfortunately, the bathroom door would not shut, at least not without a little bit of force. It seemed to get stuck on the door frame. I also wished that the room had better noise isolation. You could hear anyone's conversations and footsteps when they walked past your door.Service was awesome! They were extremely nice and helpful when checking in and out. Funnily enough, they called me to let me know my room was ready, but I guess I had a hunch while shopping, because I just walked into the hotel when they called.I also have to say, this hotel is extremely convenient to stay at, as it is right in the middle of all the fun on Mackinac Island. I might come back to this hotel just because of that!Rooms: Very small, but charming. It had a few issues, but nothing major.Nearby activities: It's Mackinac Island; what do you think? The street was full of cyclists, and there are several attractions on and around M-185.Walkability: Very walkable, especially since cars have been banned on the island.

We will not be back. Pool view room that was about an 8x8 cell with a bed. You can see the pool if you push your face against the window...see the pic and the view through the broken blinds. It might be a bit of an exaggeration, but cmon. No breakfast or coffee for what we paid, and the room was small. The room was not cleaned well, it was in need of many repairs, and did I mention tiny? I must admit it fit the bed like a glove. Issues were the shower door seal was coming off, and this made opening the door a great workout to start the day. There was a cool ambiance to the hotel that made that part fairly cool. Room decor is pretty nice, too. But in the end, we simply needed a bed and shower and for $300 expected more than what was there... Next time, for that money, we will stay somewhere else.

The Murray is the little gem of the island. Its rooms are comfortable, clean and affordable. What makes this hotel so special is the staff! Friendly, personable and eager to make sure your stay is fantastic. Location is the other gem close to everything. The outdoor hot tub is a perfect place to unwind after a day of hiking and biking the island. We stay there yearly and look forward to it. Not to mention the fudge is the creamiest on the island. You will not be disappointed if you choose the Murray.

We stayed overnight at the Murray hotel on the third floor. Small room, no views, incredibly thin walls, and the lobby always smells like Mexican food! Don't get me wrong, it smells like *good* Mexican food, but it's not exactly what I would expect from a $300+/night hotel. Likewise, the staff wasn't particularly friendly (I was hoping that would be its redeeming quality). Overall, the Murray Hotel was really nothing notable aside from the main street location. I probably wouldn't come back.

Absolutely loved my stay at The Murray Hotel. The beds were so incredibly comfortable- I haven't slept that well in such a long time! The rooms were very clean and I loved the Victorian theme decor and antique furniture. My room had a beautiful view overlooking Main Street and the harbor. Last but not least, the staff was outstanding! So kind, helpful, and attentive- I look forward to staying here again in the future!

My husband and I booked this hotel for a last minute trip to Mackinac Island. The location is super convenient and close to pretty much everything. I’ve seen a lot of people complain about room sizes and while the room we stayed in was very small it was plenty big enough for the two of us. The rooms do lack some amenities that other hotels may offer such as coffee pot or fridge, but we honestly didn’t even miss those. If you plan to spend most of your time out of the room then it shouldn’t be a big deal. Most importantly, the room was clean, cozy, and comfortable. It kind of felt like I was staying the night at my grandma’s, lol! I would stay here again when visiting the island.

We had a fun and relaxing time at this pretty hotel! A large breakfast was included in our stay each morning, not just a continental breakfast, but all-out eggs, potatoes, etc., made to your request from their inhouse restaurant. Very impressed and well worth the cost of the stay.Rooms: I just loved the beautiful Victorian appointed room, but with modern amenities, i.e., bathroom and comfy mattresses!Walkability: This location is centrally located in town, across from the docks and convenient to all restaurants, tours, fudge and gift shops. One yummy fudge shop right inside the hotel!Noteworthy details: Our room on the 4th floor had a lovely view. The service was very nice. Our bags were delivered in minutes after arrival and the housekeeper even noticed my friend's birthday card on the desk and made a pretty tiered cake out of the towels with cascading flowers. Such a personal touch!

The room was small. I paid extra for a package deal that included 2 meals which I thought was a good deal but it was for the little Mexican burrito place in the hotel. I cannot eat Mexican food. They had another place in the hotel that served other kinds of food but the meal vouchers were not good there. I paid extra money for this and it was not worth it. Waste of money!!

Beautiful historic hotel in the heart of Mackinac Island. The rooms are super cool, cozy, and cute. We got the historic standard room. It was small but adorable and the price was UNBEATABLE for the island! The staff was extremely friendly and went above and beyond. They have free coffee and tea in the lobby 24/7 and offer donuts as well. The hotel itself is gorgeous and the pool/sun deck is super nice. I would definitely stay here again.

When you visit the Island, you have to know that rooms are priced very much higher than on the mainland. This is no exception. The room had necessary amenities but it was very small by any standard. The staff were great! All were very friendly and helpful. The location is right on the main street. The hotel is fine if you manage your expectations.

Probably one of the best hotels on the island. The service was amazing. Staff was always friendly and willing to help and answer any questions we had. The room was basic, but all you really needed and had a nice historic charm. Wish the beds were a bit more comfortable, but after a long day of exploring, you don't end up caring all that much lol. Location was convenient, being directly across from the Star Line dock. Don't forget the complimentary doughnuts when you are staying!

I enjoyed my stay here. The room was clean and I enjoyed having access to coffee and tea 24/7 from the main lobby. The location is fantastic and I certainly wouldn't mind staying here again. However, I have to knock it down to four stars because housekeeping simply never cleaned our room. After 2 pm, I finally asked a member of housekeeping if anyone was ever going to get to our room and he told me "After they do the check-out rooms."No one ever came. We had overflowing trash and were short on soap and tissue paper " It was almost 3 pm and I finally said forget it and cleaned what I could. I shouldn't have to take care of my own hotel room when I'm on vacation. I understand prioritizing rooms that guests will be checking into later during the day, but what about the guests that are already there?Aside from the housekeeping, I had no issues with this hotel and would recommend Murray as a place to stay when visiting the island.

This hotel achieves what it sets out to do, but does leave a bit to be desired. The location in downtown Mackinac is superb. The room was clean and the shower/bathroom was nice and upgraded. The sun deck and spa/pool were very nice. Because this is an old hotel, the room we stayed in was extremely small, but that is understandable. The towels provided in the bathroom are terrible. They were tiny, thin, and not at all absorbent. The pillows on the bed were lumpy. The bed linens were also very low quality. The doors to the rooms are thin/old so all of the noise from the hallway comes right into the room. Made it difficult to turn in early or sleep in late. Overall, not a bad hotel at a lower price point, but you get what you pay for. Would probably look to spend a bit more to stay elsewhere on a return trip to the island.

We attempted to check in at 3:40pm EST and were told our room was not ready, but it would be about 20 more minutes and that we would receive a call. At a bit after 4pm (stated check in time), we tried to check in again, but were again told that our room was not ready. This was frustrating because we were trying to make our bike reservation, but needed to get changed before heading out. Still without a room, we resorted to just going on the bikes because we did not want to waste any more time. We were told that we would receive a phone call when the room was ready. After biking around the entire island, we attempted for a third time to check in after 6pm (we had never received a phone call). The front desk told us that they "literally just finished cleaning the room" and that we were finally able to check in. My main issue is: we paid a good amount of money to have the room for the stated 19 hours (assuming check in at 4pm and check out at 11am). However, we ended up with 2 full less hours in the room because of the incompetence and lack of clarity with the front desk. This is not ok and we will not be recommending to stay at Murray again.

We stayed at This hotel and stashed our luggage in the luggage closet after we checked out so we could do some shopping before we left on the ferry. Unluckily we lost a child’s bed pillow in the closet and did not notice till we got off ferry in Macinaw City. The child was 13 but knew there was no replacing the pillow and crying for the loss. We contacted the hotel and an employee found the pillow and sent it right away on the next the ferry. That was so wonderful and saved the day. A big Texas thank you to the receptionist for going the extra mile!!! We will be back for sure!Nearby activities: Close to ferry dock and in the center of activities

A delightful place to stay. We scored a room with a Main Street view. Loved having the chairs on the porch to sit in the evenings. Hot tub and second floor sun deck was great as well.Service was top notch. No complaints. A slow shower drain was the only hiccup.I only wish I was carrying more cash to better tip the porter who carried our bag from the ferry to our room and back. I never imagined such great care and service in 2022!
