After a severe storm ripped through the area, causing major damage to the roof of our home, I reached out to several local roofing companies. Of the five I contacted, Empire Roofing was one of the first to show up. Michael Nelson, one of the three brothers who own this company, arrived shortly after that. His review was returned to me within the week. This was all new to us so Michael took time to explain what to expect. Only one other of the five companies provided a review which was rejected by our insurance company. We hired them based on their qualifications.If you've never had to file an insurance claim, it can be pretty intimidating. Geoffrey Nelson, Michael's older brother & accountant for Empire, explained the details of filing a claim. He also reached out to our insurance company and worked closely with them on the financial side, something I could not have done by myself. The roofing crew of six men showed up shortly after that and completed the work within a day. I was amazed and pleased with the crew's level of knowledge and professional attitude. I never expected to have this job done within that time frame. A couple days after completion, Dean Nelson, their older brother showed up to inspect the work. I'm always nervous when hiring contractors to complete work. However my experience with Empire Roofing over the summer of 2023 was honestly one of the best contractor experiences I've had. They did a nice job letting me know what the process was going to be and working with me on schedule and concerns about the impact on the neighbor's ability to use their driveway. Follow-up and punch-list items were addressed quickly and professionally. Well done.

I had some shingles missing from my roof. I called a couple of roofers looking for an inspection and recommendation. Marlin from Empire came out. He was both very friendly and professional.Marlin's extremely thorough inspection revealed significant wind damage to my home and garage roofs.There was one spot where the shingles and underlying roofing felt were torn away exposing the plywood. Marlin said he would send someone out immediately to put a temporary patch on that location before I suffered water infiltartion. He did this at no charge even before I had committed to Empire as my contractor.In the end Empire did the work. The crew that came out worked incredibly hard, stripping and replacing both roofs in LESS THAN TWO DAYS! The clean up was exemplary as well.I would highly recommend Empire roofing. We are very pleased with the quality of service we received with Empire Roofing from start to finish. Our roof had both animal and wind damage. When I first contacted Empire Roofing and left a message, I received a prompt response from Mike. Within a few days he was at our house assessing the damage and giving us detailed information as to what to expect and how to proceed forward with insurance. This was our first time filing such a claim and Mike was an excellent guide and consultant. He was very professional, prompt and courteous in all of his communication. The insurance adjuster who was assigned to our case and who deals with a number of contractors even commented on how it was a pleasure to work with Mike, that he was very straightforward and honest. The process with insurance took some time, about 6 months. There were a few hiccups which caused delays. With each step, Mike was diligent and persistent in making sure the process continued to move forward, staying in close communication with us the entire time. When the day finally came to replace both our house and garage roof, we were impressed with how speedy and thorough the crew members were, including with clean up. We are very satisfied and grateful to Mike and Empire Roofing and highly recommend them to anyone!

I was extremely satisfied with Empire Roofing from the initial phone call to schedule an estimate all the way through the completion of the job. The entire team was very responsive and kept in regular communication to update me about their progress and the timeline for starting work. The job was completed on time, on budget, and done right the first time. The crew did an excellent job cleaning up the site and the project manager came by in person a few days later to do a final inspection and make sure we were happy with the service we received. To top it all off, their pricing was very competitive. I recommend you give them a call if you need a reliable, professional roofer in the Duluth area.

I had empire roofing come out and assess hail damage from July hail storm in 2023. Marlin was extremely helpful finding hail damage on my house as well as my metal pole building. I LOVE this company! Finding shingles in our front yard after a night of crazy wind was enough to strike fear in my heart. Empire was easy to work with and friendly. Michael the sales representative was great! Everything was explained and he was available to answer more questions as they arose. Plus he worked with my homeowners insurance to make sure we got what was needed. It was fun watching the drone go up and film our roof. The selection of roofing colors had just what I wanted. The crew arrived shortly after 7 am. They had the old roof off and the new one on, including adding more roof vents, completely done by 4pm. ONE DAY! Geoff, Marlin, Victor, and the rest of the folks at empire roofing are above the rest in quality and customer service. I sold my house and had wind damage happen to my roof at the same time. Total recipe for a enormous headache, right? Between my insurance being a challenge (that’s putting it nicely), the mortgage company having several demands, and trying to move, I was having a hard time getting everything done before closing due to my insurance company’s disorganization. Empire made it happen. They worked with me through it all. I needed a second shingle sample for insurance because they lost the first. One call is all it took. Empire had it pulled same day and even hand delivered it to my agent. I couldn’t leave work to look at material samples, they delivered them to me. Needed the job to be scheduled several days sooner than it was originally was because the mortgage underwriters changed the required completion date. Sure thing, they did it. I needed the dumpster to be removed asap so we could move furniture, it was gone within an hour. I could go on and on about all they ways they made my life, this claim and home sale easier. Everything that was thrown at them they handled like pros. On top of the beyond exceptional customer service, the roof looks beautiful. I didn’t find a scrap of missed waste either. Clean-up was perfect. I can’t express my gratitude enough to everyone at Empire for all that they did for me. They are the best!

Empire Roofing and especially Marlin, who gave us the bid, are AMAZING! Not to mention reasonably priced!We had some wind damage to our roof and I called several companies to try and get it fixed before the forecasted rain hit us.After numerous calls, I got ahold of Empire Roofing and they sent someone out right away. Marlin from Empire Roofing came out and he is truly a gem. He has amazing customer service, a genuine personality, and is very knowledgeable! He was highly efficient and his expertise was clear. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the result of our roof.Here's a breakdown on the company's performance.Project Manager: Geoff was very courteous, punctual, and a very good listener. He was very descriptive on the insurance process and showed up to all our appointments on time. He responded to my emails and phone calls promptly. Grade: ARoofers: The roofer worked super hard. 12 hours the first day. 15 hours the second day. The two days were hot - 85+ degrees and often windy. They took necessary breaks and never left the job for another. I appreciate the commitment. Grade AGround prep and material handling: I had several problems here. Our house is pretty tight with our next door neighbor. My neighbor has a beautiful shade garden which the ground crew cut through a 3+ foot wide path for disposal. Her plants were fully bloomed and we won't know what will live until they sprout again next spring. There were several whole sheets of shingles that didn't get picked up until 3 days after the crew was done with the job. String of nails were hung on phone lines and one of our antique lead window was broken. The biggest problem I here was broken glass spilled into our hallway. The crew didn't come in to alert us of the danger or offer to clean it up. We cleaned it up ourselves and let had to alert the project managers along with the roofers. Thirdly, some of my siding material nearby got damaged due to being stepped on. The material and broken window had to be replaced Grade: FPaper work: The office staff did a great job here. The billing was straight forward. In term of replacing our window, materials, and working with my neighbor's damaged garden, Empire did not hesitate to make it right. Geoff spoke to our neighbor and took her input gracefully. My window is being compensated by Empire as well as the damaged siding material. Grade: AOverall opinion: Empire is a good company. They were thorough, polite, punctual, priced fairly, and delivered beautiful end product. They're good at what they do and I wouldn't be reluctant to employ them again for my garage. I just wish I didn't have to deal with the mishap, but they did the best they could in all 3 situations.Thank you.

They did a great job tearing out the old roofing and installing decking before laying down new roofing at our house. The crew was large enough and worked so efficiently that they were in and out in a matter of days. They were easy to work with and very responsive, and left the place clean after the big roof demo. I called Empire Roofing about 4 weeks ago to get an estimate. Someone came out with a drone and took some pictures of my garage roof that I was looking to get done. I then emailed my insurance information to this company and was told I would get emailed back the estimate and a plan for the roof replacement. Communication was little to none. I had to call every 2-3 days to ask about when I was going to receive this information in my email. After 4 weeks of waiting was told they couldn't approve to do the job due to a busy schedule. This is something I believe a company should be aware of to inform a customer right away. Rather then sending someone out to take pictures of a project and have them wait 4 weeks to tell them no. I could have gotten the ball rolling on contacting other contractors in the mean time. Getting closer to the winter months so this makes it extremely frustrating on trying to get a roof done in time before snow falls.

Empire Roofing put new shingles and added a ridge vent on our house May 2020. Marlin did our estimate; he brought his own ladder, got up on our roof, discussed all aspects of our roofing, and delivered shingle samples. He and his office personnel were quick to respond to my phone calls or texts - communication was excellent.
