I had a great experience working with Jay. Although we decided to put the project on hold for now Jason was so thorough coming out and giving me guidance and ideas for our potential kitchen remodel. He is very knowledgeable and he assured me that they see their projects through with full transparency and good communication. They even will provide an app for you to check in on the progress. They also will order all of your materials first before they start to assure efficiency of the project. If we move forward I will feel confident and excited working with J Hempel!

I would not recommend hiring J Hempel Services to do any interior or exterior project that you may have. We had a very bad experience for both a bathroom remodel and a roof from the May 2022 Hail storm. The workman ship, communication and quality is severely lacking and we paid the ultimate price by putting our trust into Jason. Do not be fooled this company, they will try to sweet talk and explain why they can’t or couldn’t do something but just simply stay far away from this company.If we could do both our projects over again we would have trusted our guy and these types of reviews and hired a much more reputable contractor.

Jason and his crew did a roofing job for me at my cabin. It was late in the year when I started looking around for roofing help. Jason responded to me and kept in touch with me personally when other vendors weren't calling back. He got the job done before the weather turned cold. I appreciate his flexibility and sticking to his word of getting the job done. The front office was responsive and helpful as well. I would highly recommend their services.

After a septic backup, nearly my entire basement needed repair - bathroom, laundry room, family room, hallway, walls, floors, doors - it was a mess. The thought of vetting contractors and trusting them with my home was a little daunting to me as a single woman not even knowing all the right questions to ask. We had our basement finished with J. The price was right. We did comps with other construction companies and he can in at the best price. We only had to make a few adjustments along the way. The finished product has been enjoyed by all of our family. Awesome tile job in our new bathroom. Great cabinets for our wet bar. The quality of the work is unbeatable.

In March 2023 we contacted Jason from J Hempel Services to give us a price on some siding replacement on our home. We wanted to do just a few sections, not the whole house. Jason came out and looked at our project and gave us a price. We decided to go ahead and planned to begin work once the snow melted. Later, as it turned out, the old siding materials on our house had been discontinued and were not available at this time but could be put back into production at a later date. Jason contacted us right away and discussed alternatives for us which we later declined. Jason promptly returned our deposit. During this experience we found Jason to be very helpful. Jason is great to deal with. Very responsive and informed. Pricing was reasonable and seemed to be about middle of the road as far as estimates went, but in fairness the lower quotes came mostly from fly by night contractors that did not inspire a lot of confidence when talking with them. His crews are top notch and of a high skill level.They did a new deck for us last year and new siding and gutters this year. I called J. Hempel to look at a possible leak in my roof. Skip(David) Bidney came out to look and determined it was just water coming in through one of the roof vents but noticed hail/wind damage while he was on the roof. We filed a claim with my insurance company and we were able to replace the roof. Skip was great to work with and very patient with me. He followed through promptly on everything. The roof was replaced and everything cleaned up just like new! Jason was also very helpful and courteous. I would recommend Jason, Skip and their crew!

We have used Hempel construction twice now. At our previous house we hired them to rip out the vinyl flooring and replace it with laminate. There was a few slight imperfections in a few tongue-groove planks. Which was noticed after the floor was laid. Jason himself took it apart and detail checked each piece. The floor turned out great!Fast forward to our new house. I contacted Jason about getting a deck quote. We also contacted 3 other deck building contractors for quotes. After the initial shock of the cost to have a deck built, it was a no brainer for us to hire Jason-Hempel Co.The deck was built in 4 days with a crew of 3 guys. Hands down we have the nicest deck in the neighborhood!!! The attention to detail, excellent craftsmanship and outstanding products recommended to us by Jason make the deck look nicer than the house.All of crew members I’ve meet that work for Hempel are respectful, customer oriented and want to make sure the customer is happy. Lost art these days in my opinion.We will always be using Hempel construction to finish out basement someday as well.

Hired J Hempel Services LLC to replace our roof, some house siding, and storage shed due to hail damage. Jason and his crews are friendly, professional and have excellent craftmanship. Jason was also quick to respond to an unexpected building code violation with our roof. He communicated our needs to the insurance company and provided the necessary documentation for a full cost reimbursement of the additional materials. The crews were respectful of our property and cleaned up after themselves. Jason walked thru afterwards to confirm the yard was free of nails and other materials. I highly recommend J. Hempel Services for all your building needs.

I had hail damage to my home and Jason Hempel approached me to get it fixed. I had siding & roof fixed.Roofing experience (4/5):There were a few bumps on the road but it was finally done last year. The team did a quick job; all in one day. It looks wonderful! However, there were a few delays (mostly because of insurance). It started rough when the dumpster was delivered to my neighbor's house, whom had construction at his house too, so they had two dumpsters! They fixed it later that day. After the work was done, I checked the roof and found packages of staples and nails still sitting up there. In addition, there was damage/rust on the new roof vents and the trimming for the skylight window was not finished at the time. All of which is fixed now. Overall, they were quick on getting it all done in one day. And the new skylight window looks amazing.Siding experience (5/5):It was expected to start last year but there were delays like the team being sick. In the end, it was probably best to do it after winter. The two man team that did my siding took about 3 1/2 weeks to accomplish. They were always on time (having to come from Wisconsin). They did a wonderful job, even during questionable weather conditions and COVID situation! Cleaned up so much better than the roofers. Repaired an outlet that was not to code and a wall sheathing that was damaged to water. Jason upgraded my gutter system, which was awesome!Side notes:I would highly recommend an assistant. Jason does wonderful work but communication can be missing. Sometimes he remembers things and sometimes forgets them. It feels like that he may be overwhelmed.I am still waiting on getting a quote on my windows (I was hoping to get it before the siding was done but I guess that's not happening). And getting an electrician to hook up a new exterior outlet (this was requested last minute) but they prepare a box on the siding for installation, which was wonderful.I'd like to recommend magnetic stick to collect the staples & nails around the house, in places that are hard to reach. They have a roller magnet that does not do well on my property other than the driveway, even then it misses the ones at my garage door or close to the house.Overall a good company to trust and Jason will make things right, if there's something wrong.

Jason has taken the time to educate us about each job and potential options including quoting various alternatives to help us make decisions. We’ve enjoyed his attention to the details and quick resolution of any issues. We had a major project when we hired J. Hempel Services. We had our Kitchen, Bedroom, Bathroom, and Pantry remodeled with an addition to the house and with laundry moved upstairs. It was a long process where the project was drawn out over a half a year but part of it was due to the weather at the time. Other things that would have made it a better experience is being able to have more of a say in the design process. Otherwise they used good materials, workers showed up on time and were always courteous, and if we had an issue Jason would figure out a way to solve the problem. Everything turned out very beautiful. Edit: So it has been 2 years since the remodel and within months the kitchen floor cracked and had to get that section replaced. This took a little time to get them to come out to do. Fast forward and the kitchen floor cracked again and with trying to reach out (a few times) yet again we have not heard back from him and the damage from the cracks is getting worse.Service: Remodeling

Jason and his crew did a fabulous job restoring my home to like new condition after a bad hailstorm, and in challenging circumstance with labor shortages and poor weather delaying the spring season. 3 roofs, 2 types of siding, garage door, and other items had to be replaced. They went above and beyond and installed an extra storm door and upgraded the shingles at no additional cost. Jason was responsive throughout the process, and very patient with all of my questions.

Had a terrible experience on a deck build with this contractor. On June 18th Jason showed up and said it would be a 4 day job.A few days later a contract was signed with a tentative start date of 6 or 13 July. After 7 start date changes, finally started on August 18th.From day 1, I had the decking material on site and the railing picked out and just needed a stair count to order railing. I reminded him 3 times and was ignored before they showed up to start.After a 3 week wait for a custom paint job, (which should have been easily avoided) the job was completed on October 6th. There were 3 minor issues at completion that he was aware of and when I inquired about them, he said the job was finished and threatened an intent to file a lien if I did not pay.Payment was never an issue, but in my opinion, his arrogance is. The guys working for him did a good job. The stairs were built 20 inches wider than originally designed and material ordered. He said it was because of code requirements. Absolutely not true!I suggest you use someone else.

Our master bath remodel experience with J Hempel Services was subpar at best. Jason was very careful not to put a completion date in the contract. Verbal and handshake 6 - 8 week timeframe was pushed out to 14 weeks. Knock down ceiling had to be redone. Mud and paint work had to be re-touched. Hot water instead of cold was hooked up to the toilet. Chewing tobacco spit can ring was left on the window sill. White trim work was put up with dirty hands and not cleaned. Communication was atrocious ~ had to call Hempel from a non-familiar phone number so he would answer. Paperwork stated they are available 24/7, not the case. Overpriced for the work completed. Requested a final meeting 3 times and we were denied.
