When I needed my house reroofed I contacted a few roofing contractors in my area to get an estimate and Mike Hansen Roofings was Johnny on the spot. They helped during the entire process explaining the different types of shingles on the market and the benefits of them. I went with the CertainTeed Northgates which is a 50 year shingle and has a impact rating of 4. They came out with a professional crew and got the job done with no complaints from start to finishing..everything was cleaned up just the way it was when they showed up to start. If any contractor asks for 50% down, don't use them. The state of MN says no more than 10%.The state actually has a pamphlet about hiring contractors on line. ( This is in response to a review by another person stating they paid 50% down.)I hired Mike Hansen roofing, but for the construction part & the work meet code but they didn't do exactly what they said & estimate was vague enough, it would be a he said , she said deal. (A lot of contractors write vague estimate 's, watch out for that.)So make a very detailed estimate/contract.Mike was not the person who wrote the estimate or contract, it was his employee.They showed up right away, as soon as the technical part was in order & worked hard & knocked it out. I'm very pleased about their timeliness.Work area was left fairly clean, I'm still picking up screws & nails & it's been a couple of months, my quess is that fairly normal, nails on ground magnet doesn't pick up.There's some workmanship issues, but it met code and frankly one of the employee guys has a record. ( Many General Contractor's don't do back ground check on employees & even people with criminal records have to work to feed their kids.).I've had way worse contractors in the past & some exceptionally good ones., Mike falls closer to good than bad, but given the record on the employee, the cops told me about , I really don't want them back & won't hire them again. ( That employee might not work for Mike anymore, the employee had a warrant out for him & cops were looking for him. ).There is still a issue that needs resolving & I'm waiting for Mike to address it, more of a technical issue. Mike's is slow to address it.Oh, Mike's a busy guy, because he's hard to get ahold of, even his employees struggle to catch up with him, just keep trying.

The other places in town were slow and had poor communication, but Mike was able to patch my roof almost same day for cheaper. Great local company.

The Mike Hanson company was a pleasure to work with. They got the roof done in one day and took careful detail to clean-up during and after. They even moved our patio furniture during the job, and used a leaf blower leaving the place extra clean. The employees were professional and respectful. I requested a skylight and I got one however it was installed the location was incorrect. It was installed 4 feet from where I requested and I was told to deal with it. As if that wasn't bad enough the clean up after the job was greatly lacking. I'm still picking up shingles weeks later. And lastly the bill. Came in $3500 above quote. No communication prior to Bill telling me it would be higher no options just a surprise. I was told many times "I've got 20 years experience" than why wasn't the 3500 in the quote why is my skylight in the wrong place. Done in one day , very clean and professional!Showed up to give estimate when promised, tear off started at 800AM and replaced 4000 sq ft roof by 700PMNo nails left behind!Licensed , Bonded, Insured , three must for my wife and my State Farm Clients!Would be very comfortable recommending to others, and have done so already!

Signed contract in the middle of Sept for new shingles. I stressed my concerns about getting it done soon, while the weather was nice. I was told that they should get done within the next week or two. The shingles were delivered the next day and sat in my yard for 2 and a half months. I called once or twice a week and was always told that I was next on the list and should be there in the next few days. Very unprofessional company to deal with. Impossible to talk to Mike, until it comes to getting paid, then he was in constant contact. As far as putting on the actual shingles, they ended up subcontracting it out to a smaller local company. My review is based solely on the business aspect of the company, which was terrible.

We have had nothing but problems with this company since we hired them. We thought they would be good after we had storm damage and they helped out with temporarily patching a hole in the roof, but things went bad as soon as we hired them to do the insurance work. They don't seem to be willing to honor contracts and they treat customers horribly.

Clark with Mike Hansen Roofing was out to estimate a roof, we finally decided, signed paperwork, and then just got a letter from him today returning our initial 50% payment check stating he is retired and hadn't turned the paperwork into the office. In text communications with Clark he led me to believe (several times) that a crew would be doing our roof THIS YEAR yet, but excuse after excuse has led to this point. Our roof has a leaky spot and thankfully it hasn't rained much. This has been pending since we signed the paperwork and wrote out the check on September 22nd. Very unprofessional and ridiculous.
