This quilt museum is a must-see. It is set in the old Hamilton High School built around 1918. Lots of old and newer quilts of all kinds, including a whole room filled with tiny doll quilts on doll beds and doll-sized dressers. Another room is filled with vintage kid's sewing machines.Make sure to visit the museum when you are in Hamilton. The gift shop offers fabric, kits, books, and other items, all of which are donated. All money from sales supports the museum.

I'm a quilter and I can say this place is worth the visit. Nestled in the old high school in Hamilton Missouri, three floors of history.I enjoyed that they had several of them roped off which were truly stunning. The room with the toy sewing machines was wild. I had no idea that toy sewing machine history goes back so far. This is a great addition to exploring all of the quilt shops in town. Highly recommend taking the time to see this. The miniature quilts were my absolute favorite.

Stopped here on our way home. The museum is an interesting work in progress, plus, has a gift shop with t-shirts and fabric at good prices. We were most impressed with the young quilting, curator Jackson. He has 3 quilts of his own on display. He knew all about the museum, plans of future exhibits, all about the Cherrywood challenge and what would be coming next. Meeting this young man gives me hope for the future. Really enjoyed our visit.

An absolute must-visit when in Hamilton! Out front you'll find the world's largest spool of thread - bring some thread and add to the spool! Inside, you'll find exhibit after exhibit... be sure to visit all 3 floors! Antique quilts, crazy quilts, vintage sewing machines, a gorgeous collection of antique toy sewing machines... there is so much here! And be sure to ask about how to get your name on one of their bricks out front - put your name, buy a brick in honor of a quilter in your family, or have your quilt guild buy a brick!

Beautifully renovated school building that is climate controlled. 3 floors of over 20 exhibits throughout the museum. Exhibits change quarterly. Over 400 toy sewing machines and 300 quilts on display at anytime. World's largeat spool of thread courtesy of Aurifil is a landmark outside. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this stop!! Museum curators Bob Hughes and Dakota Redford are outstanding!

Lots of stuff Ina small space. There is no elevator at present but they are accepting donations to get one installed. Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

The Missouri Quilt Museum is filled with so many beautiful quilts ranging in age fromthe 1800's to today. There are a lot of other interesting items including sewing machines, thimble collections, and industrial machines. The Museum is in an old school building and I love they are incorporating the original school in their exhibits. For example, they use the chalk boards to display information about quilts on exhibit and they use lockers for a fun exhibit about quilt blocks. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend this museum!

The quilt museum is a must see in Hamilton. Go to the Missouri Star shops for fabric but don’t miss the museum for inspirationMuseum is well-curated with permanent and rotating exhibits. Found some surprise treasures in the small museum gift shop. And Bob, one man welcoming committee is just the best. Felt like I was visiting a friend.

Absolutely beautiful and exciting! We loved looking in each room as they are each different! Our favorite rooms were the tiny quilt room and the Underground Railroad room, they have such cool stories behind the quilts! We would highly suggest a trip to see the world largest spool if thread as well!!!

The museum is incredible. So much to see. It is so much more than "just quilts hanging on walls". They have lots of history to read about and take in. Sewing machines of all types and so many other things to see and experience. Admission is $12. Worth every dime.

Update: I just want to update that I emailed them after I had done the review and got a response right away. I should of emailed, before doing the review and I feel bad about that. I was offered another box by Ryan. I really appreciated the quick response. Also, looking at my previous comment it looked like I was saying it was ALL blue and grunge… that isn’t true. It was 16 blue with a lot of them grunge and several of the others were also grunge. Anyhow, like I said before, you never know what you are going to get and that is part of the fun. I am adding another star, due to the quick response.I have not been to the museum yet. I will still go the next time I go to Missouri again. My review is on the box of 30 fat quarters I bought from them. When you order a site unseen box of fat quarters you know going in that you might not like some of them. I only liked one. I don’t like blue or grunge and it was a box of blue and grunge. I wish they would have mixed it up some. Anyhow, like I said you know going in you might not like them. I gave a 3 star, because Ryan was pleasant and helpful, pre-receiving the box or I would have have a 1 star. I haven’t spoke with anyone since. The fabric smells so bad I can’t even give it away. It smells like a mildewed wet basement. I am so disappointed.

What a gem! So many quilts nicely displayed. The toy sewing machine is delightful. The volunteer had a wealth of information to share about the museum collections, the former high school building, and the town. A must see destination!
