The team at Scariano Construction completed a kitchen remodel and built a deck for us about 6 years ago. They provided sound advice while we were planning, helped us choose the best materials for the job, worked efficiently and safely, cleaned up after themselves, and were super polite and pleasant to be around. Scariano Construction is an outstanding company, with stellar project managers, construction staff, office management and they use the very top subcontractors on their projects. We were so fortunate that they agreed to do the renovation work our newly purchased 1910 home in the University District. The project was complex and challenging. It required replacing all infrastructure, demolishing a garage that was in such poor condition it had to be replaced ,removing a large tree that threatened to fall, replacing the original, inoperable water box and connecting to the city water, demolishing a brick flue, remodeling an antiquated kitchen and dysfunctional bathrooms, removing 4 layers of wallpaper through out the house, replastering walls, painting inside and out and making a frightening basement bright and usable. They contracted with a stain glass artist to repair windows and duplicate a missing bookshelf cover. The original brass hardware on the doors and windows were miraculously brought back to life. The original wood floors refinished and new hardwood floors matched perfectly. They worked hand in hand with the city on permitting and other requirements as well as communicating with neighbors on construction issues and property lines. We were delighted with their solution for an open breezeway connecting the house to the garage. Best of all they were an absolute delight to work with and considered us equal partners in decision making. Their expertise was invaluable and their creative ideas and high standards remarkable. To compound the challenge we lived in another state while the work was being done over the year it took to bring this home back to life. We received drawings, updates, photos and were in close contact via e-mail with questions, requests for decisions. It was an amazingly seamless process executed by outstanding professionals.We enjoyed the process and we are grateful everyday we walk through our house. This project was a highlight in our lives and we could not be happier. Best of all Scariano Construction has agreed to help us with our 1920 log cabin on Salmon Lake. Repeat customers are the real proof of excellence.

Unreliable and unprofessional. They dropped our project, without warning, after we had been talking to them for nearly 8 months. Frank had a person I had never spoken to before call me to tell me they no longer had the time. And it was only 5 months out from the start date so, of course, it was too late to hire anyone else.If you look through reviews you can see this is a repeat issue but I think it is happening much more frequently now — and I know he did this to several other clients recently, dropping a number of residential jobs that they had already agreed to after getting some bigger commercial opportunities.Perhaps this was a good company at one point but they are no longer customer-focused. And while I think Frank is probably a good guy, he lacks the crew and the management skills to support the jobs he takes on. You will lose time and money trying to work with them.

Summer of 2017 we contacted Scariano Construction for a quote on a small outside project at our home. They had been recommended by neighbors for whom they had done several projects. Scariano provided me a date by which they would have the quote. And missed it. They missed the second date they gave me. When they emailed that they were going to miss the third date which they had provided for the quote, I responded gently voicing concern about "expectation setting". In response I received an aggressive phone call from Frank Scariano firing me as his firm could not work with a client like me. With unnecessary further aggression, he went on to say that he looked forward to driving by the house to see how the project was progressing. By that time--weeks since our initial contact--the other contractor from whom I did have a prompt quote was booked and could not take it on. I don't know what Scariano's work is like--we never got that far. It appeared from the quote process that they are seeking clients who will take what Scariano gives when they give it, at their price and without asking questions. We are not that sort of client but got the project done anyhow.Following the review above, I received the following email from Mr. Scariano:"Hi Marcia:"I hope this nice spring weather finds you and Jerome well."I am disappointed to see your negative review of my company and of me. It is disappointing that I was the one who caused you grief. It certainly was not my intention and I apologize."As an explanation, I recall that we owed you a bid on a Friday. I believe Dan Kral let you know via email that we were working on it but asked if we could possibly get it to you on the following Monday. I think that is when you sent the "meeting expectations" email back to us. Your project was challenging for us as we were asked to work with your concrete sub-contractor who was not very responsive to us. When I received your email, late on Friday, I responded inappropriately and asked you to find another contractor. I felt that we would both be better off not working together."Now, after reading your negative review, I realize I should have handled things differently and been more patient. Although we did not do the physical work for you and Jerome, I still value your opinion of my company and more importantly, of me."Would you consider removing the negative review on Google or at least amending it? Is there anything I might do to repair the situation? If you would like to discuss further I am available to do that too."Thank you for your consideration."Respectfully,"Frank Scariano"

After playing phone tag, having them waste our time twice in person and half a dozen times promising bids while making us pick out products since September 2018, and promising every few weeks to give us a bid (the last of which was an email where he swore he’d give us our bid first week of January 2019), we’ve settled on another contractor that gave us a quote in 2 weeks for twice as much work. Frank even jokingly told us the first time we met that he’s lost clients to how slow they operate. So very, very disappointed in the wasted months we could have already started construction. Frank wasted our time and was not at all truthful about his availability or commitment to our remodel. Definitely would not recommend and have told many people about our awful experience.
