We own a very old house and its detached garage. Both of which were needing a new roof. In the summer of 2023, we had interviewed 4 separate roofers to get bids. The Severance family and their super hard-working guys were absolutely the BEST. Their years of experience showed them to be the most conscientious, thorough, and easiest to work with.Kevin Severance came out to our house, took the time (on a very hot day) to examine all aspects of the upper framing of our house, including our very hot attic (no other roofer we called for an estimate wanted see nor wanted to enter our attic). Kevin spent a lot of time with us. He offered us his unique and professional insights as to the detailed needs and the demands of venting our old roof/framing design. NO other roofer that we called offered this insight.The end result was simple perfection. We love their work and the final outcome of the new roof and the GAF roofing system. Kevin, his family, and their friendly, hard-working crew are simply the best people. I highly advise you to call them.

RJ Severance recently completed a new roof on our house, which included removal of the chimney to the attic floor and new rain gutters. We initially met with Kevin, who provided a detailed explanation of what was involved and our options.The work was started and completed as scheduled. Highly recommend RJ Severance & Sons Roofing and siding. They're very professional, extremely reliable, excellent work, and overall, just really easy to work with.They recently completed a roofing job on my mom's house, and I/we couldn't be happier with the job! Then just the other day I had called to ask them to come look at a small hole in my siding caused by a lacrosse ball. They came out to look at it, sourced a small piece of my siding (as I didn't have a big enough piece left), and replaced it all within a few days. Couldn't be more pleased with their work! Again, highly recommend them for both roofing and siding!!

Randy and and son Kevin are the best. Randy came out to our son's house at 6:15 a.m., to accommodate my son's work schedule, and assess the roof, and look for a leak. Who does that come out that early in the morning and the next morning after I called. Randy came highly recommended by our contractor that worked inside the house and our real estate agent that sold us the house. Kevin, the son, took over for the roof replacement. Everything was done promptly and efficiently. They protected all the new landscaping around the house, cleaned up the yard. We were very happy with their product and the work. I would highly recommend using them, and I never met them.

Kevin came right out and inspected our 30 year old roof, he provided an estimate and different options for us to discuss. We had gotten several other prices from roofers and decided to go with RJ Severance based on their reputation and Kevin’s professionalism. It was a huge job, two layers, plywood not up to code, rotted facia you name it. They took care of everything, even painted our furnace chimney to match the new roofing! I originally met with Kevin's dad. I knew from the minute I spoke with him that they were decent, honest people. When I met with Kevin, he was professional, courteous and just and all-around nice guy! He came out to the house with several options for our new roof. I was very impressed with his style. He wasn't pushy and made me feel comfortable with his knowledge of the products. We had other roofing companies come out and give us estimates as well but none of them gave me the feeling that they were right fit. R.J. Severance was not the cheapest estimate nor the most expensive, but I felt his price was fair. His crew was very nice and did a great job keeping the mess contained. They had the roof installed and cleaned up in one day. I am extremely happy with our purchase, and I can't say enough good things about this company. I would recommend R.J. Severance to anyone looking for a new roof. Should I ever have to get another roof in my lifetime or decide to replace my gutters, they will be the ones that I call to do it. I was not familiar with roofing companies, but after speaking with representatives of 3 companies, I chose R. J. Severance & Sons to replace my roof.I was really impressed with Kevin Severance who did the bid and informed me on the quality of the shingles, how his crew would protect windows and plants, and how they would clean up afterwards.I was really impressed that they own their own dumpsters, which they parked on the street versus risking damaging my driveway and leaving rust spots. They brought the dumpster the day of and took it away when the new roof was completed. I have seen other companies bring dumpsters days early and leave them for a couple of days after -- because they use third party dumpster businesses.Kevin explained some of the things that R J Severance & Sons does that is even better than code. They were part of his standard approaches in replacing roofs.I was thrilled that Kevin's quote was the lowest of the three as well.My wife and I are totally happy with the results. I met with a half dozen roofing companies before choosing on R J Severance. I learned a lot from the meetings. They all used the same satellite -based computer program to obtain dimensions and a preliminary material list. One prepared the estimate based on this alone. Three made varying degrees of observations from the ground of the roof of my two-story house. Only two walked the roof to identify some of the areas where new sheathing would have to be installed. Kevin Severance was one of these two, and he also made several suggestions to improve the roof and gutter system to protect the new roof, which he included in the project. He and Randy Severance are the owners and one of them would be on the site at the start of work each day, during the day when needed and at the end of each day. They are roofers, where the other five fellows who had come to my house were salesmen. Severance's estimate was among the lowest. But Kevin and Randy Severance would be part of the project from beginning to end, and they would communicate with us directly as the project progressed. We chose Severance, and we're glad we did.Roofing projects begin with stripping off the existing shingles, papers and thousands of nails. Most roofers push this off the roof onto tarps below, including your bushes, plantings and whatever. RJ Severance has a special vehicle that pulls up near the house where it can and extends a large bin up to the edge of the roof so that most of the debris slides into the bin and not onto the ground. This reduced the amount of debris on the ground tremendously.The crew worked well together and carefully installed each component of the roofing system. Everything fit, lined up and looks good. We have received several compliments on the appearance of the new roof. Randy and Kevin Severance are among the most helpful and kindest people in the construction field you will ever meet, which goes a long way to making projects like installing a new roof as painless as possible.Service: Roof installation

I am disappointed in RJ Severance. They must have no office because everything is done via text message. Unprofessional. During my repair, there were two unauthorized people in my yard, a woman and her child. They were agitating my neighbors dog and playing in my yard. I received an explanation and an apology, but it should have never happened. If those people had been hurt on my property, it is my liability not theirs. Not only that but these people didn't have masks on in a pandemic. I had to shoo them off my property and I am still upset about it.As I said, I did receive an apology, but it doesn't change the fact that it happened. They also left pieces of metal in my yard for my dog to step on (see picture). When they left, no one came to tell me they were done or if I had any questions or anything, they just left without a word, and then took over a month to tell me payment was due. Then I had to request that they mail the invoice.Any respectable company would provide documents via email or mail, but using text message seems cheap, unorganized and inefficient. I was told that the delay in invoice came from illness of some sort, but I wasn't told this until I was asked for payment over a month later. A heads up would have been nice. I actually had a check ready to go at the time of repair, but since they left without a word to me, I couldn't give it to them.Service: Roof repair
