J.J. Builders did a wonderful job renovating our garden level unit. Nikol was wonderful to work with and I appreciated how organized and responsive she was throughout the entire project. Andres did a terrific job with the construction work to make everything beautiful. Last but not least, they are great dealing with Historical Preservation and Building Department people to get permits approved, which is truly a nightmare in Jersey City.

J.J. Builders was a pleasure to work with. We did a full gutting and remodeling of our master bathroom and the finished product is fantastic. Additionally, we anticipated a home renovation to be a stressful experience, but it was anything but stressful. JJ is the best!We've used them twice now and will definitely hire again.Two things that really stand out compared to other contractors:1. Excellent communication. Cannot say this enough. Nikol is on top of every project. We never had to follow up or ask for updates. It really took a lot of stress off our plate, especially since we work from home and have two dogs in the house, so good communication and planning was essential.2. Andres is very knowledgable in every trade. His estimates are incredibly detailed. He knows what work needs to be done and exactly how long it should take. Plus he stopped by frequently to check in and answer and lingering questions we might have.So far JJ has torn down walls, exposed brick, installed a fence, gut-renovated two bathrooms, and swapped out our electrical panel. Next up... HVAC?Final note - our house is VERY OLD and it did not slow them down at all :)

"I would give them a raving review. They showed up when they said they would. I think they’re awesome. I’ll be using them in the future. " This was the review given by my property manager, who on site. He hardly ever gives a good review!I live out of town, and am the owner of a historic single family home in Jersey City. I hired J.J. for several jobs: to seal and repaint the basement where there had been water damage; to fortify the waterproof barrier on the exterior along a side path running the along the house from front to back, and finally, to repair major water damage to the sunroom which juts out into the garden. All work was done with quality that exceeded my expectations (for example, rather than fill-in /spackling of cracks as I might have expected along the basement exterior wall, J.J. attached a low barrier along the side of the house from from to back.) When initial work began on the sunroom, it became clear that the damage was way more extensive than it had first appeared. Office manager, Nikol was a wonderful communicator, and kept me posted every step of the way, including photos of the work, and detailed invoices for exactly what work was involved. I'm delighted with the work that JJ Builders performed, from initial consultation and quoting, scheduling of the work, all the way through to the quality of the finished product. Our bathroom project was a complete teardown and we had no experience with home renovation. Andres explained everything clearly every time, made us feel comfortable in our ignorance, has a photographic memory of conversation and great attention to detail. The 6 tradesman who worked at times over 4 weeks were clean, courteous, professional (and fixed two other unrelated issues in our house gratis). I'm not sure if this is common but JJ also has an office manager Nikol who picks up the phone on the first ring, seemed to know every detail about our particular project, and made it easy for us to immediately phone/text/email any concerns to the contractor. The final product was nicer than we had even hoped for, there were no billing surprises, but there were three unexpected/unbilled 'gifts' at the end of the project that really put the cherry on top. J&J Builders worked on my home after we discovered water infiltration issues from some of the recent severe storms. After calling, Andres came the following day to look into where the water was coming from and what the best course of action would be. Our window framing was rotting and needed to be replaced. I told him I wanted to keep our windows if possible, as they were only 8 years old and in good shape. No problem, he said. His estimate for the amount of work needed was reasonable and he could work within our timeline. The J&J crew showed up when they said they would, did the work in a professional manner and finished on time. The quality of the work was excellent, just what I was hoping for. They took the time to work clean, which was a big deal because some of the work was inside the house. Finding the right contractor can be tough! After reading several reviews, I decided to reach out to JJ Builders and couldn’t have been more happy with that decision. We had a short time frame to have the work completed, Andres and his team were up to the challenge and did not disappoint. We had JJ builders renovate the 2nd floor and hallways of my childhood home which hasn’t been updated in many years. The work included gutting and renovating a bathroom and laundry room. Lowering the bedroom ceilings and refinishing the hardwood floors along with many other updates. This Contractor was a referral from someone I trust, who is very meticulous and a perfectionist. The referral came highly recommended. So ... of course I called the Contractor because I needed someone urgently. I was sort of in a bind. My brownstone was being sold, the inspector came and the Buyers took the word of the inspector and probably researched prices a bit and came with a very high amount for the repair list. Now I have been living in this brownstone for 5 years. I never had a problem except the normal wear and tear. My late husband was a Structural Engineer and I knew that the repairs couldn't have been so costly. The most important problems that I saw that needed to be fixed, were the staircase outside from the second floor to the garden and the dampness on the first floor bathroom tub wall. For these items on the list the charge would have been, according to the Buyers' research, pretty high. JJ Builders came in and gave me a detailed estimate of the work they would do and the cost associated. It was considerably lower. I know the Buyers based their estimate on the inspector's word, but boy will they save so much if they go with this great Contractor. I saw the work JJ does; the person that referred me had a huge kitchen and 3 bathrooms done. Beautiful renovation! Folks, why pay more for quality work if you can have excellent results at a reasonable price?!
