BEWARE!!! Alex’s team replaced our front porch roof a few years ago. Since then the eaves have given way and the gutter has separated from the house so much so that the roof is now leaking onto the porch. I called him for a gutter repair. He did show up for the appointment and after seeing how much the eaves were sagging, he acknowledged that something was wrong. He didn’t know at the time but he promised to come back in two weeks to fix it. I assured him I would pay for his time despite his acknowledgment that something was wrong with the installation. Unfortunately I never heard back from him. I texted, emailed, left voicemails. No response whatsoever. I have given up. I am now looking for a contractor to fix their work before we have a complete collapse.

Please do not hire Alex contracting/Montclair Roofing. They are THE worst roofer in New Jersey in ALL aspects. I hired Alex and his team back in October 2023 initially for a leak in my roof. He came and gave a consultation, looked at my roof and diagnosed it as bad flashing around the base of the chimney that was causing the problem. He charged us 900 dollars to fix the flashing and fix the leak. He also gave us a 10 year warranty. After the initial "repair" of the flashing, the leak from my roof GOT WORSE. I called him multiple times over and over, he COULD NOT FIND THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK and continued to "fix" all different parts of the roof WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. He tore apart the shingles and added unnecessary fixes to our roof yet our roof continued to leak. He also NEVER COMES WHEN HE SAYS HE WILL COME!! I would contact the secretary asking Alex to come on wednesday, and you would be LUCKY if he comes that week. He never ever shows up on the promised date. Finally we asked for a refund as he gave us a warranty that this leak will be fixed. However he COMPLETELY refused to give a refund and said that the warranty does NOT guarantee him fixing the leak and "all it promised was a new flashing." He is a scammer who does not honor his word and DOES NOT respect his customers. I had to fight tooth and nail to even get partial money back. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!!!

I would recommend staying away from this company!! Montclair Roofing did what I thought was good job on a new roof in 2021. It was a hard job on an old house. However, in the process they set a portion of the roof on fire. Since then, it has become clear that the roof was never repaired correctly in the area of the burn, or has reopened. It has been leaking into a portion of my living room ceiling and wall and the damage has become progressively worse. I have a 20-year warranty covering both exterior roof problems and interior damage. I have been calling and texting over and over since early September. It is not clear who is getting the messages, and any responses I get are extremely vague. Twice, without alerting me, guys were sent to repair the damage, the first a very young man with whom I could not communicate who spent about 20 minutes on the roof, the second an older man who reassured me about his level of experience and that he had indeed fixed it. At no time, even though I asked for this repeatedly, did anyone, let alone Alex, enter the house and evaluate the interior damage and the extent of the interior repair. Since then, I have observed more cracking, plaster peeling and so on, and have repeatedly texted about the problem. It seems that the roof is still not fixed. I become more concerned daily that significant structural damage may be underway. Again, often there is no answer or only a vague answer from a person whose identity and position in the company is unclear. Last Saturday, finally, Alex was supposed to come and see the interior damage, prior to what was finally set as a repair date, today, January 3. I waited for two hours on Saturday but Alex never showed, and no explanation was provided even when I followed up. Today, again, nobody showed. I texted and was told by the vague person that the message would be "passed on" (which is most often what is said). I have heard nothing. I will have to hire someone else to do the work, and may have no choice but to move to court to seek repayment for this work from Montclair Roofing.

My roof had a leak. I called Montclair Roofing for an estimate.Alex showed me pictures of where the leak was coming from. After looking at the pictures it was a obvious that a roof repairwould be a band aid fix. Alex did not hard sell for a new roof, he gave me an option to repair or install a new roof. I got twoother estimates. One contractor did the hard sell, the other gave me the option. Alex's estimate was reasonable and his honestywas what made me choose his company. Start to finish the roofing crew was professional and efficient. I would recommend Alex and company for any of your general contracting needs. I will absolutely use this company again!

Montclair Roofing painted my house in 2022. They were very responsive, organized, professional, and easy to work with. Any hiccups we had were addressed promptly and and to my satisfaction. The work was fairly priced compared to other quotes I received. The painting job was done during the pandemic when contractors were under a lot of outside pressure. It was a big job but was executed flawlessly. I have no hesitation recommending Alex and his team. I was very pleased and get many compliments on the finished product. We contacted Montclair Roofing as we had a problem with leaks coming from a flat roof and in minutes we received a call from Alex. He set up an appointment, provided a quote and we scheduled the work for the same week. The crew arrived early Saturday morning and did a wonderful job. They were also super clean and they left the work area spotless. We were so happy that we hired them again for electrical work and hang a light fixture. Alex is wonderful to work with, responsive and professional. We will hire them again!

Alex and his team were excellent. Alex was in regular contact and walked us through the process. We closed on a house with a hole in the roof and Alex squeezed us in and took care of us. He was the most reasonable of the roofing contractors we got quotes from. His team was on time, they moved fast and the roof looks great. He also had one of his guys fix our brick pathway which looks great. Alex is also a genuinely good guy who takes care of his clients - checking in with us to make sure the project met our expectations. The crew run by Estefan was polite, hard working, and thorough. Alex and I had a bad start to our relationship but he made up for our start and then some!!!! His worker who came today did excellent work and even though he was by himself he went above and beyond to complete the job he was hired for in a timely and professional manner!!! So much so that my next door neighbor hired him to do work as well. Montclair Roofing repaired/replaced my storm damaged gutter and soffit. On my garage they replaced the roof, repaired holes due to animal damage, did masonry work around the base, and painted. Alex directed everything and was a pleasure to deal with. The various teams that did the work did a great job and cleaned up beautifully. I would definitely work with Montclair Roofing again and highly recommend them.

I recently bought a new home which detached Garage required a new roof. I began searching for local contractors to provide an estimate for new roof. Within a period of 2 months, I contacted 4 different contractors who provided an estimate. Montclair Roofing was the one I selected because when Alex came to do the estimate, he presented himself highly professional, respectful, inspected damaged roof and provided details of what needed to be done at an affordable price. When his crew arrived few days later, they also presented themselves as polite, hardworking, overall knowledgeable about their profession and used high quality products. This company not only specialize in roofing but as well as gutter initialization & repair; painting; siding; carpentry and masonry. I used Alex and his team to have the exterior of my house painted as well as for various siding repairs and carpentry work. Overall they did a great job and I would recommend them. The only reason I did not give a perfect 5 star rating is because I did find communication to be difficult at times. For example, it was difficult to get in touch with management at times and that was frustrating, though we would eventually connect. That said, I would definitely use them again, they did a good job and I’m happy with the outcome.

We had our entire roof replaced (garage too) by Alex and his team. They replaced all of our gutters and down spouts too. When I asked last September if we could schedule for spring, Alex told me that they could have it done between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and they did. We had company staying over through New Years, and the work I wanted to schedule for spring had already been done! We have an old house, so some of the details and nuances of it's design style need to be considered during renovation...even roofing, and they matched the old style beautifully. Having had Montclair Roofing Services replace our roof (and any subsequent repairs) led us to think of other projects that we can utilize their talents for. They do a LOT more than just good roofing!

Alex and his crew are the best in the area. He took on our complex roof with several dormers, old box gutters, skylight install, exterior carpentry to match historic details, and interior ceiling work. His team completed all work with a high level of attention to detail and quality. Alex was responsive and available throughout the entire project for all of my questions and requests. We would use him again for any additional work we have (not just the roof).I'd also like to note that competitor roofer in the area who we also got a quote from attempted to defame this company when they found out we hired them. Very unprofessional of them and it seems like many of the one star reviews are plants.

I called and Alex was great on the phone - went and checked my roof right away. He told me it needed a full replacement and he would get back to me with a price. 3 unreturned phone calls and an unreturned email later I gave up trying to contact him and called another roofer who identified the leak that wasn’t even from my roof (and my roof is fine)! Every time I called I got an answering service that couldn’t answer any questions, just took messages...I had high hopes after seeing this reviews but was disappointed in the customer service.

Alex did a fantastic job replacing the flashing around a leaking half moon window. We had a recurrence of the leak, which turned out to be a separate issue, as water was coming in from the roof above the window.
