As others have stated, Wild Rivers BLM is definitely off the beaten path. However, its easy to get here down a main paved highway. The roads in the park are paved. The campsite loops are gravel/unpaved but ok. We travel in a 38 Renegade Valencia. We found only a few sites that could easily handle our size. (No tow vehicle). Site 27 in El Auguaje was long enough for even a tow vehicle. Trees are an obstacle backing in. Park time was 10 minutes max. A little maneuvering. Its worth the drive and the maneuvering for the campground & the views. The campgrounds are connected by a nice, one way paved road loop with a bicycle path. My wife loves to e-bike so this is perfect. Each site has a gazebo with a metal roof & picnic table. No electricity. No dump. Water is available at the toilets. This is boondocking at its best.AT&T was 20mbs. Great! We camped at El Aguaje Campground in a 38’ Super C.

The visitor center is a fantastic place to stop. The staff are extremely knowledgeable, kind, and very helpful. The facility itself is interesting and has lots of information and robust, interactive, topographical, 3-D re-creations of surrounding geography. There is wildlife in blooming plants around the center when we visited. Can’t wait to return!

The trail leading down to the Rio Grande River at one of the Wild Rivers national campgrounds. The trail descends 500 feet to the river at this point. Be prepared in July for hot weather! Trail is rated difficult but the first few hundred feet are easy and beautiful ❤️

Really really great views here. I went when there wasn’t a ton of people so I got to really enjoy the scenic views without the loud hustle and bustle. There’s a bunch of trails down to the river. The park rangers are quite nice and are great at directions. It’s about a 10 mile drive out to the park from Questa I think so don’t forget your water. (There is a water fountain near the trail though, but I wouldn’t depend on that.)

I was so surprised this nice facility was out here! LOVE it that I can walk to the Red River Hatchery on a trail, fire pit area, etc was cool. Unfortunately, the visitor center was closed but it also meant we had the whole park to ourselves. I think we saw 4 other cars in passing, so we were thrilled

Amazing place. Visitors Center was small but had all the information you'll ever need. Road construction is almost finished but doesn't obstruct access

Out of the way, but best boondocking camp area we have ever been to. Covered picnic area at each site and plenty of space to stretch out. There is water at a couple of the campground areas, but no other services. However the solitude and hiking down the gorge makes it worth it.

Unfortunately closed when we arrived but we were able to drive around the park and see the beautiful scenery. This is part of the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument. The camping spots provide remarkable views of the river that has cut through lava beds to create deep gorges.

Fantastic hidden gem. Incredible views, lots of well marked trails, and plenty of wildlife. The visitor center is small, but very informative. Detailed maps of the campgrounds and hiking trails are readily available from the friendly staff.Be aware that campsites for large rigs is limited, but there are numerous spots for smaller rigs (<25') and tents.Enjoy.

Only giving 2 instead of 1 because the rest rooms were unlocked. No maps are available or posted for the trails. Trails are not clearly marked half way thru hike. No mileage is given for how far you need to drive in to reach visitors station. They need to improve service.

We got a very warm welcome, useful tips on hiking as well as information on the flora and fauna and petroglyphs that can be found in the surroundings. Very useful first stop when hiking the area. Though we only went up for the day, camping sites along the hiking trails looked clean and functional.

What a beautiful place. We didn't camp but hiked down Big Arsenic trail and back up. Nowhere near as tough as it looked but a good workout. The scenery, especially at the bottom was breathtaking. Highly recommend this hidden jewel.

A real gem. Great campsites with covered picnic tables. Many have extra wind screens, which is a plus. You are perched high above the river, at the rim of the canyon. Spectacular views. Nice level hiking/biking trails crisscross the area between campgrounds (not much shade, though). Very nice visitor's center with good geology exhibit. While bike riding, I took shelter there during a thunderstorm, and met a group of NASA astronauts-in-training who were there doing geology training for upcoming lunar or Mars missions. (they wouldn't say which).

This is a really nice campground. Worth the trouble to get to it. It's about 14 miles outside of Questa, NM. Very well-maintained sites, paths, toilets, etc. Incredible views of the two rivers coming together. Camping is only $7. Great price for the fine area. The only reason I didn't give 5 starts is due to no real services for RVs. No hookups or dump station. Still, that might be a bonus for tent campers. For tent campers, this is definitely 5-star.

Hardly anyone at this park when we went hiking here. Several trails and great views. They are doing construction but didn't detract from our hike. Frustrating that the visitor center still closed due to Covid but trails and campsites were open.

It wasn't even open yet because we were trying to get there early to beat the heat but one of the Rangers saw us and came out and gave us a quick talk before our hike which made all the difference. What a great team they have here with such a passion for this park.

The rangers were super friendly in giving tips to hike. It was a great hike down to the confluence of the Red and Rio Grande. Gorgeous hike. Way back up was a little challenging but week worth it.

We don't have the words to describe the beauty & grandeur of this natural wonder. Trails to hike, picnic areas, camping, wild life. I got two new life birds Mountain Blue Bird male & female & Buff Tail Hummingbird. If I got the name wrong sorry going by my memory lol

Beautiful. Long drive to get there, especially coming from Texas, but worth it. Clean and well designed camp sites in an amazing setting. Great for hiking.
