Our campsite was level, as were many other campsites we looked at. Privacy, shade, and condition of fire pits and tables was good. Toilets and drinking water spigots were well located and well maintained. The sand beach is excellent for swimming. The firewood was $11 USD for 1 cubic foot, but was bone dry hardwood that split easily, and burned very well.

Beautiful views of the lake. Very peaceful. Great kayaking. Only negative is the shower water turns off every 20 seconds. Need to change that. At least the water was warm.

Beautiful campground. I loved being near the water. We hiked Bear Mountain which is right there and just walked to the camp site. We hiked High Falls a few miles away. The beauty of nature is just unbelievable. It rained a few times but it didn't ruin our time there. It was wonderful. We will definitely return.

Carly was such a sweet host that checked us in and answered all of our questions. We had to go back for a few requests and she was so helpful and patient while we worked out our needs. The amenities were good. The campsites are very nice on the water and it was very serene.

Nobody told me the lake would be FROZEN?! water was too low and not liquid. Terrible boating experience.

This place gives a new view on chip and dale , their were a lot of rescue rangers, not so much rescuing as they were rampaging through ours and other peoples sites haha just about running over our feet like mice, I called the campground told them they were swarming our site they said they would come by and didn’t. eventually they went away, make sure every scrap of food is off of the ground no Cheerios left behind or you could have this issue. Apart from that the bathrooms were fairly cleaned no hot water in the bathroom in loop 2, hot water in the showers though wich are not in every loop theirs one building for showers for the campground.they do sell ice there wich is very convenient and reasonably priced.

Lovely campground. We had a great spot at #064. Sites are decently spread out, but there’s no division between other sites so you can pretty much see everybody else at all times. Not the campgrounds fault but we were surrounded by families who were asleep exactly at 10pm and I felt like even my whispers could be heard several sites over since we were right on the calm water. Made it difficult to relax and enjoy the night-time campfire but didn’t ruin the trip by any means. Had no luck fishing, lots of rocks and downed trees by my site, kept getting hooked. Loved the friendly animals all around. Chipmunk climbed right in my snack bag and on my foot another time. Mallard ducklings were super cute and the momma trusted us being less than 2 feet away (that means people are often good to them, so keep that up humanity lol). Overall, amazing views of the lake and the site itself was large, fairly level, a bit rocky so bring a mallet, and incredibly peaceful. I’ll be back!!

Wonderful as a starting point for kayaking or canoeing on Cranberry lake. The sites are large and well spaced, but many are right along the road and have little privacy.

Park has made improvements and hopefully more due for the road..super bumpy. We fall camp here so don't swim but spend many hrs in our kayaks and walks. Lots and lots of waters to explore. So so sad that much of town was closed up. Really love the region and the endless areas to explore.

The campgrounds are amazing. The lake is pristine and beautiful. It truly is an amazing place. That said, the workers there are not very friendly and can even be outright rude. We also found the lady at the general store (where you rent kayaks) to also be very cold and rude. The younger woman who worked there was above & beyond kind. She was incredibly helpful. The rest seemed to not like out of towners. That aside the campgrounds are great and I would recommend this place to anybody who loves camping and who wishes to see the Adirondack mountains. Its truly a peaceful and wonderful place.

We loved this campground! Extremely well-maintained with loving details. Lots of nice tree cover and good space between sites in the Peninsula Loop. Ask at the check-in desk for a great guide to local waterfall hikes. The Bear Mountain Loop hike was more strenuous than expected but very rewarding--be sure to start by the trailhead near the beach, not in the campground loop or it will be even more strenuous. We would absolutely drive halfway across the country to visit again!

Beautiful scenery. Bugs not bad. Beach needs to have ropes moved out farther for swim area. Feels like it's about 20x50 feet of space to swim. Bathrooms need updating.

Many thanks to Cary and her staff for another great time at Cranberry Lake Campground. One thing we love about it is the space between the sites. Lots of trees The bathroom and shower house were kept clean and with views like that you can't go wrong. See ya next year.

Very quiet laid back campground. We stayed on site 44. It was big and right on the lake. Sites 41 - 44 are prime sites. They are on a dead end loop and all lake side. With that said Its not easy booking a lake site. They are literally booked solid all year. There's no playground but we knew that going in. The lake is great for kayaking(again, right off the your site). The bathrooms and shower house are old but they were very clean. The showers have push button water. Kind of annoying but the water was hot and the water pressure was strong. There is a new dump station. I'm not sure how it looked before but there is 2 places to dump. We were able to dump quickly at around 930am. The deer flies were horrendous. As soon as I stepped out of my truck they were on my head. That was consistent the entire week. Maybe the heat played a factor in that. But it was ridiculously annoying. No brand or amount of bug spray helped. Possibly the only complaint was the fire pit. We stayed with family adjacent to our site. The fire pit is tall and built to have a fire in front. You cannot sit around it. If you want to get away for some peace and quiet this is the place. I highly recommend it.

Perhaps one of the best campgrounds we have ever stayed at anywhere in the US. All the sites are large, secluded, and wooded. Very cool natural rock formations throughout. Several Lakefront sites with direct and easy access to the lake for pulling up a boat or launching a Kayak. Great hiking trails all around. Outside of the campground, the entire area is tired and run down. Don't expect much in the way of restaurants or services... Natural beauty makes up for the misses...

Camped in a 35” motorhome. We are self-contained so cannot comment on restrooms/shower facilities. Camped in site #140.Pros-- Campground is in a forest – lots of trees – our site was 100% shaded.- Sites are very, very spacious.- Super quiet except for hearing the loons at sunrise.- Great Verizon service.- Lots to do – hiking trail, kayaking, fishing- The lake is beautiful – there is a beach area for swimming and kayaking is great as there are not a lot of boats on the lake.Cons –- Be careful with your reservations and make sure you read the cancellation policy. You may not get a refund if you leave early or change your reservation.- An hour from Lake Placid area and some of the more interesting mountain hikes.- only one area to take trash - this is a very large park and campground area. Need to add more.

Rustic state park on a pretty lake. Most campsites are small and better for tents. Very few could accommodate a larger RV. There are NO HOOK-UPS (no water, electric, or sewer). Shared bathrooms are old but relatively clean. Showers are gross. Come for the lake or fall leaves, otherwise there's not much to offer beyond barking dogs and generators.

Large, heavily used campground. Sites are wooded/shaded; some are lakefront, but many are not. Many sites have sandy/gravelly base, so not great for tenting, but workable. Restrooms were clean and functioning, as was the single central shower house. However, showers have only a trigger button that offers burning-hot water (no temperature control).

I love how spaced out the sites are. There are some beautiful site on the water that we’ll choose next time. There’s more than 1 dump station which is very convenient. They offered free wood and toys for the kids. The bathrooms were clean and great water pressure in the shower. The beach was fine, a bit shallow. We hiked the Bear Mountain trail. A nice hike but absolutely nothing to see at the top except for a lot of tree.

The area is beautiful. We camp at least 5 times a year (campgrounds and Backcountry) and are familiar with the practices of proper food and waste disposal, among others. The management of this campground is a bit too strict in enforcing rules. They drive around multiple times to call out people they "think" are breaking campground rules.I.would highly recommend the primitive camping sites if you have a boat/kayak. They are free, no neighbors and no one to watch over you at all times. Then you can enjoy the lake with more peace and quiet.

This place is heaven on earth to me! Absolutely beautiful and the people I met here were wonderful and very nice. No problems what so ever and the trails were very well maintained. Looking forward to coming back. Only thing to mention is bring bug spray!! Mosquitoes and black flies can get nasty but if your prepared its not that bad!

Just finished five days at this campground. As others mentioned, campsites are well spaced when compared to most other campgrounds. We stayed in a hybrid trailer for this trip. We were in loop four and found navigating the park to be quite easy, the sites seem to be layed out with some thought regarding trailers. We also brought our boat and were able to store our boat within the campground. This was a nice touch for us. We found the nearby state launch to be very nice and not crowded at all. Be aware if your vessel is not clean they may ask (or require? ) your vessel be cleaned before entering the lake to stop invasive species spread. We didn't have any issue, but we also have never been flagged in the inspections. This was a mid week trip, the campground was more than 80% full. During this time we found the camp to be very quiet. Not sure how the rangers do it, but I did notice they are patrolling frequently and also taking time to talk to the campers. I would guess they can figure out where the trouble is at and take care of it swiftly.Overall a wonderful family campground leaning a little more on the rustic side. Looking forward to making this a destination every year.

Cranberry Lake Campground is an excellent place to stay - there’s limited access to the lake but overall a well kept campground. I will warn you about the help there though. We tent camp and I brought my 16 foot fishing boat to fish. Not wanting my truck and boat w/trailer blocking traffic I parked it in an uninhabited camp site. An old guy on a golf cart came by and told me I had to move my truck, boat and trailer. I chuckled at it but agreed - I get it. So I moved to the end of our site, putting it as tight off to the side as I possibly could, leaving only the section seen in the picture ‘blocking the road’. He came by again at 9:00 at night and asked me if I could move it because I was blocking the road. I basically told him he could go kick rocks after he told me I could drop my boat off at the recycling center 1/2 mile down the road. Mind you I have an expensive fish finder, rods, tackle etc, not to mention we were leaving the next day. I served in the Marine Corps - I thought the las time I was going to see drill instructors was at Parris Island - well apparently some of them work for NYS DEC at Cranberry Lake!

An absolutely beautiful location ,Tucked away in the Adirondacks mountains. Restrooms and bathhouse extremely clean. Do your research however on your campsite some of them can be very small. Wonderful waters for boating , kayaking & fishing. The beach however when we went was closed but still we had a beautiful time. Cannot wait to go back again.

One of my favorite campgrounds in NY. Beautiful scenery, clean facilities, friendly staff. Many sites have water access or water views. Water sites tend to get booked early, so bear that in mind.Sites are mostly spacious and you're not "on top of" your neighbor. Some reviewers complaining about lack of playgrounds or store on-site. Neither is a concern if you a) entertain your kids with the countless acres or wilderness and water and b) pack accordingly or visit the nearby town of Star Lake for provisions. There is a sandy beach on site, though water sites usually have easy walk-in access to water. Makes launching kayaks and canoes easy and safe.Highlights include the nighttime serenade of common loons and barred owl. Eerie and beautiful music!

This is a great campground for campers who want to be in a natural setting, not an amusement park. We had noisy neighbours, but they were dealt with quickly and professionally by the caretaker. The washroom facilities are so clean you could eat in them. We discovered the hiking trails this time around, and will definitely be bringing proper hiking boots for our visit next year. Cranberry Lake has become an annual pilgrimage for us.
