We were very happy with our experience with Crown Construction. They replaced our roof and windows, and the job was done professionally, at reasonable cost, and with excellent craftsmanship and customer service. Would definitely hire them again!

Awesome! From the first meeting with Gary, to the phone calls with Kevin to the last day Jason stopped out, every detail that was brought up was thought of.Gary knew exactly what we were looking for when we first met. And it showed in the drawings that were presented. All three gentlemen came to the house and walked around with us to make sure each person was on the same page as to what was expected. There was a gap between then and when the project actually got underway, and Gary and Kevin stayed in contact to give us updates as to when they thought production would start.Once the project actually started, Jason was a true professional. His eye for detail is second to none.We had a large amount of concrete that needed to be removed. He went above and beyond with trying to keep everything neat and tidy.A tarp was put up while a car was in the driveway so no flying rocks would hit it. One was also out on the ground to mitigate and small pieces from getting left behind.Once he was done with that, the project flew by. Jason was careful with removal of shutters and siding so that they could be reused. He kept the site clean and free of nails when he was done for the day.He offered suggestions as to how it should be done when asked, and even would show us options of what he could do instead. We decided to change the design of the roof mid project, and the whole company adapted to the request and assisted with the code enforcer to get the design approved.Jason offered suggestions on how he thought the ceiling should pitch and made clear any concerns he had about how it would look based on his past experiences. And let me tell you, he was right on the money. He adapted to small problems very well! The ceiling board we chose was not long enough to put them up in one direction without needing multiple pieces, so he suggested putting them the other way to avoid seams and excess j-channel. We couldn’t imagine our ceiling looking any other way than it does now.The siding - wow! He hid the seams of siding behind our gutter, and matched them up perfectly. From the side of our house, it looks like our porch was always there. We had high expectations and there was nothing that was overlooked.Jason was amazing and we cannot wait to have him and Crown Construction back for future projects. The really did “knock our socks off”.Service: Deck construction

We worked with Crown Construction on a fairly large project, including renovating our 1850's farmhouse kitchen and bathroom. Crown assisted in the Design, provided input and incorporated our feedback and worked with us to bring our vision to life! The work crew was professional, friendly and skilled, especially when working with an old home & all the issues that brings. We are very happy with the outcome! Thank you, Crown Construction!Service: Remodeling

Crown Construction built a 3-season sun room addition to our house, re-sided the whole house with engineered wood siding, and installed a stone facade around our front entrance. The estimate and planning phases were very thorough and they answered all our questions honestly and accurately. We were impressed with the pride in workmanship the teams exhibited as they proceeded, always courteous and maintaining good communication with us throughout. They worked around the Covid pandemic delays and supply chain issues as well as could be reasonably expected. We're very pleased with the end result--it's met or exceeded our expectations in every way.Services: General construction, Install flooring, Fan installation, Paint indoors, Remodeling, Drywall installation

We hired Crown Construction to replace a roof ridge vent, some handyman work they felt should be done, and a beautiful new front door. It is great to have a door that keeps out the cold winds, and we have much more light inside than with the previous door.

Good work, but not worth the expense or the hassle. I was initially impressed by how quickly Crown followed up with me about doing an assessment on my roof. That feeling quickly faded, as they proved to be incredibly difficult to get in touch with. However, it was 2021, and no one else had any availability to do a roof replacement. After a number of frustrating delays, work commenced in 2022. Crown proved consistently unresponsive; I'd have to call multiple times to get an answer about anything (and the answer I received was usually incorrect), and I got the impression that there was very poor communication within the company. A warning, for example, about a narrow driveway went unheeded, adding a delay in getting materials to my house. Once work started, it turned out the first contractor had screwed up the assessment, and the replacement went thousands of dollars over budget. The work was done in one day, which was fantastic, but then it took three weeks and multiple calls until the foreman admitted that the crew had forgotten to install a piece of flashing, leading to water pouring down my chimney. The work has since held up well, but I cannot recommend Crown to anyone, given the cost (already higher than average, before the massive overruns caused by their contractor's errors) and difficulty working with them. I've heard good things about JD Ferro...Service: Roof repair

Crown Construction replaced my siding and parged my foundation. They were great to work with - quick response to any question, and professional and friendly. They kept me informed about timing and duration. The work itself was really well done. They siding looks fantastic and having the foundation parged was a relief. It feels like a new house. I appreciated the clear communication and the excellent work all around. Thank you!

I have used Crown Construction for quite a few different projects at my house over the past decade. The fact that I return to them time after time is a testament to the quality of their work. They are professional in every way, from the initial consultation to the tiniest of final details. My most recent project was a bathroom remodel. In a home that’s almost two hundred years old, you never know what you’re going to find when you open up walls! This project didn’t fail to surprise us, but each new discovery was met with expertise and an appropriate solution. The end product is a beautiful and functional bathroom. The next time I need something done in my house, Crown will be my first phone call.Services: General construction, Bathroom remodeling, Deck construction, Remodeling, Home addition construction, Kitchen remodeling

I scheduled Crown Construction to come give a quote, and had a phone consultation with Jeff. I had provided very detailed drawings from an experienced designer to make this process as easy as possible. Crown called me the day before the quote and asked me multiple detailed questions about the design, and then spoke with me about the budget. Crown estimated that the project would cost almost 2x the price of other reputable construction companies (2 Pros and Gibbons). For example, the other companies had estimated the kitchen would be 30K-50K whereas Crown said 100k without even coming to look at it in person. And they offered no reason other than "COVID raised the prices and that's how it is now." On top of that, to really motivate me to cancel the quote, he said he would charge me 1% for coming to quote, whereas typical construction companies quote for free. And, this 1% fee was NOT disclosed to me when I spoke to the front desk person who originally scheduled it. I just got lucky that they called me the day before the visit was supposed to happen. This company is shockingly overcharging! And, Jeff defended himself by saying that he is very price competitive compared to other companies. If you ask me, 2x the price is not price competitive at all! Also, when I called the front office to schedule the appointment, they said they were booking out until the spring. But when I talk to Jeff, he said the summer and beyond. They must have gotten a very large deal within a span of 2 days to move out their bookings! It seemed that there was some hidden, motivated reasoning behind them pushing out me and my project.Jeff, I recommend the best way to handle this situation is to say to customers "I'm really sorry but due to the size of our crew and how busy we are, we are currently only taking clients with budgets of 200K or more. However, I know amazing contractors X, Y, and Z that do fabulous work and I'm very happy to recommend them to you." EVEN BETTER would be if the front desk lady weeded out any customers with budgets less than 200K so I didn't have to waste so much time with Crown Construction. Thank you.

We have had excellent service from Crown, with each crew being knowledgeable, and extremely capable in their specialty area. They have also been very respectful, and careful, cleaning up carefully at the end of the day, and removing or securing any unused materials that might create a hazard. We will certainly call on them preferentially the next time we need work done.Services: Bathroom remodeling, Carpentry services, Drywall installation, Plumbing services

Tom, Justin, Trevor, Oakley, Corey performed such an amazing revision to my front porch. From start to finish-they are excellent workers and I am going to miss them. On a personal note, they care about their work and represent your company well! They have exceeded my expectations time and time again! Adam and the office crew are the best, as well. You have a wonderful company and will use again. We have plenty of jobs to be completed. I have no problem recommending this company to my friends, family, and neighbors.Services: General construction, Install flooring, Installation, Paint indoors, Exterior painting, Remodeling, General repairs, Drywall installation, Flooring

I asked Crown Construction for a quote about a new roof on my house. Someone came and after some observations and discussion said something like I gather you got estimates for about $20,000. I said yes and then he asked how I would feel about paying $200 for getting a quote from them. No one had mentioned anything like that beforehand. Nevertheless I said yes and signed an agreement. Then came a quote for more than $40,000 and it was not even a definitive quote: they “forgot” about the heat tape that needed to be removed and installed again and did not include a quote for a gutter helmet. So, basically I paid $200 for a quote about double what other contractors did estimate for the same job and it was not even complete. Worst $200 paid ever!

I had an enclosed porch designed and built by the folks at Crown Construction. I was very pleased with everyone I dealt with during the processAdam was very patient.helpful and knowledgeable with the design, which was created specifically for my house. All work was done in a very timely and professional manner .Tom, the carpenter who did most of the actual building, was detailed and exact. He took pride in his work, and it showed in the final product!I was kept in the loop, thru email, all through the process. Any questions were answered quickly and thoroughly.I highly recommend Crown Construction for anyone looking for quality work, done by people you can trust.

Over priced and incompetent. I made the mistake of thinking that because they cost more they did a better job. On several occasions I have used Crown construction for different repairs, roofing, repointing a chimney, and installation of new windows, installation of siding. I had to have my entire roof redone. The ridge vents they put in where wrong and created water leaking into the house. I had to repoint the chimney myself and properly seal the flashing to stop a leak I paid them to fix. They send out a salesman who made a costly mistake when checking the windows to be replaced. When the actual installer showed up he told me it would cost about 600 dollars more to install the windows. They put siding on part of the house but had a problem with the new windows. I had pipes freezing and they told me it was because of an exhaust fan vent. They replaced and ( fixed) it until the next winter when my pipes froze again. A friend and I opened the wall and wrapped the pipes and found the real problem which we fixed. It’s been seven years and no more freezing pipes. I called them in the fall about the roof leaks, they sent out another salesman who was not happy when I told him I had already paid them once to fix it and I expected them to factor that in when coming up with a price. He said he would send out an inspector to have a look. Two weeks passed and no inspection. I called him and asked when I could expect someone to take a look. He said he would get someone out to the house. That never happened and he never sent an estimate, not that I would ever use them again. My new roofer told me who ever installed the ridge vents installed the wrong ones for that part of the roof. I never told him who it was but he said whoever it was did no know what they were doing. Stay away from Crown Construction. I paid them around 20 thousand dollars for various repairs most of which I had to have it redone Crown did substandard work and in the case of the ridge vents they actually made the problem worse. My roofer informed me that half of the ridge vents Crown installed were fake, they never cut into the roof to allow the hot air inside to escape and cool air to enter. They in fact committed fraud. However I am happy that they did otherwise my leaking roof would have been worse. Keep away for your own good. They knocked my socks off.

We've had Crown do several projects at our home - including a complete kitchen, a complete bathroom, and siding. They are amazingly flexible with work schedule and working with us to keep costs down. Their staff are completely trustworthy and we've never had any qualms about giving them complete access to our home. We have an older farm house where nothing is straight or level - but to look at our kitchen and bath now, you'd never know it. We would highly recommend them.

Trevor did an outstanding job fixing the waterflow to the toliet. Two other plumbers came and didn't know what to do Trevor came and had the job done in less than 20 min. and everything was done very well. Now I know who to call when I need a good plumber or electrican. Thank you Trevor for all of your hard work and time.

Huge kitchen, laundry room, garage entry, and family room renovation. Quirky home layout made the job challenging, but the results are wonderful. Space is so open now - and turned out exactly they way we wanted. Foreman Brian Callahan and assistant Corey Brown worked very hard to essentially gut and completely rebuild half of our first floor. High quality work and professional interactions at all times!

I am extremely disappointed with how Crown Construction has handled the project (home addition of a 2-bedroom apartment with a garage below) that I had engaged them to do. I first contacted the company in early April 2020 and was assured that the project would be completed before winter. I was also informed that this project was amongst the first in line. But for whatever reason, my project was pushed to be the last in line, soon after the preliminary plans were approved by the authorities in mid-June.I understand that Covid had contributed to some delay but it is obvious that my project was not considered a priority as the company had proceeded with many other projects, with some staff working 14 hours a day, but my project was left unattended. I had to request for updates multiple times and was only told in mid-September when I asked directly, that it would not be possible for the project to be completed by the end of the year.I understand that Covid had also significantly increased the cost of building materials and I was prepared to pay for the increase. However, after a final discussion on the project in mid-October to plan for the project to commence in spring 2021, I discovered on checking the cost of houses in the area, that I was able to buy a house that could meet my need for more rooms and a garage, with the amount of money that was estimated to build the addition (not sure if it had been over-estimated). In addition, I could get a place sooner and without the trouble of having to live in a house with construction going on.On looking back and recalling all the conversations that I had with the contact person, I realized that the people in the company who were involved with the design and estimate of the project had probably concluded that it was not a worthwhile project for me to go ahead, so they placed it on the back burner. I feel extremely frustrated that I was not informed of this earlier, thus missing the opportunity of finding a suitable house sooner. I did not expect that a company that is supposed to be "Built on Trust" would treat me in this manner. After the preliminary plan was approved, I was all prepared for the project to start in July or latest by August, as I was told in mid-June that I could go ahead to cut the large maple tree that was near the new addition, which I did. Now I feel extremely sad that I had lost a nice big tree, which would have remained for many more years if the project was not to proceed as planned. I greatly regret having engaged Crown Construction for this project and I will not recommend the Company to anyone, nor will I engage them for any future projects.Service: General construction

Crown Construction just finished doing our roof, with a full tear-off of the two layers of old shingles. They did a top-notch job with the flashing, underlayment, everything. We found some rotted wood underneath, and they fixed it up for a very small addition to the original price quote. They were professional, honest, quick, communicative, and responsible. The price was totally reasonable. Overall, a great experience. In the Ithaca area, you have to be really careful about choosing a construction contractor. This area is full of crooks and bozos, which we can attest to from past experience with other companies. I'm so glad we went with Crown this time, after a word-of-mouth recommendation from a friend, and we'll definitely go back to them again.

We've had Crown do over our kitchen and now back to redo the laundry room. They are miracle workers! We even gave them a key to our home when they were working. We don't trust anyone else like that! Love you all @ Crown. You took my dreams & made them a reality while also staying in the budget. ;-)

Crown sent out a rep to take a look at our project, who said he would meet with someone the next day to work on getting us a quote asap and we never heard back. The rep also came across as a bit condescending during the visit, saying multiple times how I must have "read a lot" because I seemed to know what I was talking about. That doesn't come across well to a woman who has worked for many years as a project manager in a related field and is a licensed NY State home inspector. Didn't leave a great impression of the company. They might do high quality work, but unfortunately we'll never find out.REPLY TO CROWN:I listen to all of my voicemails and did not receive one from your sales rep Wayne. He also has my email, and I have no emails from him either. As an example, when I asked whether we could install some GFCI outlets in the kitchen, his response was "Wow, I can tell you've REALLY read a lot. No one who actually works in the field says GFCI, it's just GFI". Does that sound like a compliment to you?A couple of days later, an electrician doing some work for us said, without prompting, "You know, you should really think about installing GFCI outlets in the kitchen". So not only was your rep condescending, he gave me grief about using a term that a licensed electrician used. That doesn't come across too well and certainly not as though he was trying to compliment my knowledge as you say. And that's just one example. If he actually feels "concerned" about how he came across, I expect he would call or email and actually follow up on the quote he promised. He has done none of those things.
