After reaching out to different contractors to complete a dormer/first floor renovation to our home, we came across Center Island after seeing a project being done in a neighboring town. CIC did a beautiful job putting up our dormer. We were very happy with how quickly the dormer came about and how respectful the team was to our neighbors. They kept the neighboring properties on both sides of our home clean and undisturbed. CIC made it easy to design our home and make decisions, especially with having an architect and designer on staff. We have been very happy with quality of work they have completed so far. Project type: AdditionFirst time doing something that big to the house, don't very know what I get myself into, but lucky we found CIC.Overall the whole process was smooth and they competed everything we wanted/asked for. There are some minor hiccup here there during the built but they handle it well and address any problem professionally. Have no communicate problem, always respond our calls and questions even during holiday. Huge thank to CIC.

During COVID, me and my wife thought of having a nice master bedroom addition(with en-suite ) and walk -in closet that looks and feel like a nice hotel (since you can’t travel at that time).Center Island Contracting made that happen for us. We are very happy with what they did to our house. I get compliments from everyone (even strangers) that pass by our house (we had the exterior of the house renovated as well).Also, you can trust all the employees that they will send to your house. All of them are really nice and respectful. CIC performed a gut renovation of a sizeable bathroom for us as well as transferring our washer/dryer from first to second floor. The bathroom came out beautifully! This review is long overdue! CIC completed a major home renovation for our family over the course of ~6 months. The entire first floor of our -4000sqft home was gutted to the studs. We added a bathroom, removed walls, installed two steel beams, reworked a kitchen, and so much more. From the beginning, everyone at CIC was responsive, understanding, and above all proactive. It’s hard to see the big picture when you’re in the thick of it but Caleb is truly a mastermind behind the scenes. Every single day was, for the most part, orchestrated down to the most minute detail. There wasn’t a single day for literally months that there wasn’t a at least one CIC employee doing something to move the project along. A project of this size is stressful, there is no way around that but we knew at the end of the day this project would be done the right way. The guys at Center Island truly became family, the same crew showed up day after day. Big big shout out to Luis and Myron who were the kindest humans. We were so lucky to have them helping us. Honorable mention to Chris who brought the humor! We really loved all of the guys. My husband and I have recommended them to many of friends and would continue to do so. We are always happy to share our “success story” as so often you hear so many negative things. One other thing to note, our project spanned a time of economic instability. Prices were rising by the day and it was stressful worrying about what that would do to our project’s budget. Caleb and Evan were the utmost professionals walking us through this very difficult time, always leveling with us, always full disclosure, and always handled difficult conversations with tact. I recently hired Center Island Contracting to renovate my kitchen in a split level home. This was a large project that involved removing a load bearing wall and installing a large, steel header in the attic. Several companies we quoted tried to talk us out of removing the wall as it was not something they seemed capable of or interested in doing. Center Island was more than comfortable with this type of job as it is something they do frequently.From the moment I hired Center Island I knew I made the right decisions. Everyone I worked with was professional and truly cared about my project. Caleb and Evan provided great insight into how best to design the space and helped make for a beautiful kitchen. They helped my wife and I pick the best styles to achieve the look we were going for. Myron, Sammy, and the rest of the crew doing the construction were experts in their craft and truly exceeded my expectations. We had our kitchen remodeled by CIC as well as decking installed and created a mudroom. Overall very satisfied with the work they completed. We were told by several folks undergoing construction that nothing gets finished on time but despite the current situation with covid and lack of supplies etc, our project lasted 16-20 weeks which is the exact timeline we had been given at the very beginning. The craftsmanship of the work in the kitchen installation is apparent and appreciated. As with any project there were a few bumps in the road but we always worked towards a feasible solution. I do wish there were less change order along the way but probably an unavoildable circumstance of renovating an older home. You are kept informed of the schedule and stages of the project, the project manager and office manager are both very responsive and easy to get in touch with via phone, text, and email as well as through the use of an app to keep track of changes.Services: General construction, Remodeling, Flooring

We’re very appreciative of the work that Center Island Contracting has done to our house. Our project with them was truly the full spectrum of Design, Renovate, Build , Improve personified. Center Island Contracting transformed our house from the inside out - designed our new kitchen, renovated our existing bathroom, built an addition to the house for the new kitchen space, installed our central air and heat, improved our layout for an open floor plan and improved and replaced our roof, siding, front stoop and back deck. Plus, doing all that work while we lived in the house the whole time during the pandemic.We had a one-stop shop experience with Center Island Contracting. This being our first renovation experience, we were clueless on where to start and was hoping to find an honest, high quality and proficient firm that will take our vision into reality. Center Island Contracting did that for us and more. We financed the renovation through a Homestyle loan which required our contractor to go through an approval process, 4 work progress inspections, a final inspection and an appraisal. Center Island Contracting was able to meet all requirements and we did not have a hard time working with them on getting everything in place because they have a clear, efficient and effective process in place along with a great back-office support and the good quality of work that they and their contacts do.Overall, it was a good experience from talking about our vision, helping us with the permits, meeting the bank requirements and to the actual work and town inspections. We have been working with CIC since March of 2018. Since day 1, we have had an amazing experience with both Caleb, Evan and their staff. We’ve been treated with respect and truly feel as though they have had our interests and values in mind from the very beginning. We essentially gutted our entire first floor, which required us to move out with our 13 month old son (at the time) for about 7 months. The transformation has been truly inspirational, and their expertise has shined throughout our entire house.Of course all house renovations have their ups and downs, and often we felt we had more downs than ups, but both Caleb and Evan were there for us every step of the way with supper and guidance. If you are doing a home renovation of any kind, I would not hesitate to call Center Island Contracting for the job. They are professionals, understand your anxieties, and try to give you strong advice from a design/build aspect.The customer service has been impeccable - they have answered every call, at any time, day or night. I want to start this review by saying that I would never negatively review a company unless there was very good reason. My family and I have been taken advantage of, lied to, and disappointed in more ways than I can explain and I am writing this review to hopefully provide some insight for any future families looking for a contracting company.Last year we signed on with Caleb and his Center Island Contracting team to do the build on our 1200 sq. ft. extension to make room for our soon to be growing family. Unfortunately, this very exciting project turned into a very stressful situation quickly. To start, the job began weeks later than promised and it was very difficult receiving a straight answer regarding a definitive start date. If a contractor won't give a time frame (not even a specific date, just a rough estimate) in writing it should raise concern, and I stayed blind to it. Also, be very careful as to how much money you pay for each phase of work relative to the amount of job progress that has been completed. We were blindsided by this as well.Before signing on with Center Island I had read a few negative reviews on the usual homeowner research sites. I had noticed that each negative review was followed by the company denying that they had completed work on the reviewer’s home. Again, this should have raised a red flag and I am embarrassed to say that I wasn’t more thoughtful about what I was reading. After having dealt with this company for the past year, the arrogance in the denial of working for the reviewers has become all too familiar. Caleb and his Project Manager Orlando take zero responsibility for their mistakes and their lack of respect for their customers is very disturbing.This whole process was a nightmare. The entire job was poorly planned and the sub-contractors were not supervised properly. We were told our home would be habitable throughout the duration of the project; however we were forced to find another residence for 2 full months to avoid the dust and debris left behind. No preventative measures were in place. There were no zip walls or tarps to prevent dust and damage to the rooms in our current home. Respect for our home was not a priority. Respect for our family was not a priority.As we stand today, about a year from our first contact, over 8 months from the scheduled start date, and almost 4 months past the max total time frame told to us during the interviewing process I was presented with a "Settlement Agreement.” The agreement stated that they will not come back to complete the final items in their contract until this agreement is signed. This is where I had enough of their games and arrogance.  The agreement stated that I would have to wave any and all future claims and reviews about Center Island Contracting. Having to ask your client to sign a waiver like this says an awful lot about their company and confidence in customer relationships. I chose to not sign the waiver and as a result they chose to remove themselves from the permits leaving the remainder of the work incomplete.I leave this review as a warning to the next family that is looking to take on a project on any scale with Center Island Contracting.
