Jack and his team built my custom home and they were an absolute pleasure to work with. Every single person working on his team to build my home were professional and pleasant and they finished the job ahead of schedule. Jack was responsive and patient with all of my crazy requests. If I had to do it again I wouldn’t even consider another contractor, I would just call Jack Scalice.

Jack Scalice and his crew of workers helped us renovate/build the house of our dreams. His expertise, experience and knowledge was valuable throughout the entire homebuilding process, especially while making "on-site" decisions during the process. The subcontractors Jack hired were all professional, easy to work with, and experts in their trade. I would highly recommend Jack Scalice for any house projects, large or small.

Unfortunately, my roofing project has been one of the worst experiences as a home owner. Initially using a general contractor (Jack Scalice) who came recommended by two friends, Jack chose Carlton Mathews for the roof/skylight. After stripping off the old roof, removing the old skylight, and replacing some plywood, the crew went to lunch. What they failed to do was cover the void where the old skylight was. It then started pouring right into my office. 360 degrees around my home looked like a bomb went off. Little to no clean up was addressed, as I located twenty-seven (27) roofing nails on first pass. This is especially dangerous, as I have a Saint Bernard with only three good legs. The second pass discovered sixteen (16) additional nails. I am still picking up pieces of roofing material in May 2018.Two (2) days after initial install and the first drops of precipitation seen in North Syracuse, I woke up (0400hrs) to a stream of water leaking into my kitchen. No answer to my calls and attempts by the GC, I was still dealing with a leak. When someone finally arrived (two days later), I was met with, “I see what happened, they forgot to put the membrane up the side of the house, sorry.” Sorry? This is day one stuff. The first kindergarten fix was spraying a hose on the roof, although we already knew we had a leak. When another fix was attempted, the crew used beige shingles on a brand new Nantucket Morning colored roof (bluish grey), which certainly stuck out and not in a good way. Work was started October 2017, Carlton Mathews and crew finally strolled by and worked on the trim for the skylight in late March. The void area below the skylight still has not been painted, which was part of the agreement. A second leak in March 2018 and multiple calls finally brought Carlton back. This time I was assured they would fix the problem by rebuilding a “barrier device” which was removed in October and not replaced. This was not completed, his solution was to stack shingles and build up one area. Completely unsatisfactory craftsmanship, professionalism, or responsiveness from Carlton Mathews roofing. Although Jack Scalice did send a sheet rocking guy over to clean up after the first leak caused by his selected roofer, no offer has been levied to send someone over after the 2nd leak.As the general contractor, Jack is responsible for the horrific work completed under his name. I do not feel Jack was an advocate for me, offering excuses for Carlton Mathews. Timeline for fixes has been unacceptable. Would not recommend using Jack Scalice as a General Contractor, same for Carlton Mathews roofing/siding. Shame on me for paying Jack less than a week after the shingles were on, that check was cashed promptly, yet my roof has not been fixed. Very disappointed in the follow-up and overall experience.
