We're so fortunate to have found Mountain Ridge. Owning a second home for over 30 years in Andes, we discovered a blockage in the plumbing from the house to the septic tank and Mike's guys came immediately, dug out and replaced the pipe and cut down two offending trees. In just 2 days! They also cleaned out leakage from the crawl space. Then a few days later they returned to do landscaping on the site of an addition we had just built. All done amazingly fast, beautifully and fair priced. In a couple of weeks he'll replace our very worn roof and gutters. It's a pleasure working with Mike. A very honest and straightforward guy.

Mountain Ridge did a fine job on our house. The roof was in bad shape. Our driveway was also pretty beat up with chunks of gravel and gullies everywhere. The guys flattened it and steam rolled stone into it to smooth it out. They also dropped a tree and cut it up into logs for us to season for firewood. Everything was done very neatly and they were very considerate of cleaning up during and after the big jobs. We will be using Mountain Ridge for future projects. Thank you

Mike and his team were awesome. I've struggled for years to find people that are responsive, timely, or who will follow through on the work they say they can do. Mike came out the same day I called him and his crew was here a day later. They worked late to finish the job, even after it started pouring rain. These guys are my go to team for all things moving forward.Feels like 6 months later it's worth updating this review. Since the initial project with Mike, I've gone back time and time again. After fixing the initial issue in the yard, the crew came back and redid my basement, drywall, lights, removing a pellet stove and putting in a minisplit. Then, after contractors I had lined up a year earlier kept pushing out their timeline, Mike's team came in and redid a bathroom and installed a brand new in the basement. There's no reason to call anyone else - Mike and his crew are the fastest, highest quality, most affordable team in the Catskills.

Mountain Ridge Excavation & Construction came to the rescue early the day after a holiday!! My hot water heater broke on Thanksgiving day. The very next morning it was replaced! They were both friendly and professional, explaining to me the work being done the entire time. They work quickly, efficiently and are tidy! They cleaned up the entire work space. Hired Mike and his team to remove our old deck and build a new one. Mike met us and gave a fair price. His team came in and got the job done with no issues or delays. Once they started the project they worked on it until it was completed. Site clean up was excellent. Would use them again without question. I Highly recommend **update: I wanted to make an update to my review and say if you need a team for construction, excavation, plumbing, trees THIS IS YOUR TEAM! , after Mike and his team came through for me over the course of three weeks this summer, i had to urgently fix my crawl space, re do my roof and remove a big amount of trees. They were there when i needed them, and they did impeccable and solid work, with love.

Would not recommend.A tough review to leave because we started our engagement with Mike in a very positive way. Mike had a fair price and was quick to complete the job, but it seems, as our engagement with Mike reached “completion”, there was perhaps a reason for all of that.We engaged Mike to correct issues with our properties foundation piers, and to install a new French drain to solve our swampy front lawn and for protection against future water-related problems to our piers. The nature of our work meant progress photos were necessary to keep us informed, which we asked for, but none of which Mike shared without being repeatedly prompted throughout. And unfortunately, once prompted, what he shared was grossly insufficient and late (he covered the drains before sharing photos). He didn’t actually share any photos of the foundation changes.With insufficient progress shots we could only hope that the new piers and French drain were properly installed and would work as intended. Weeks later, after our first heavy day of rainfall, we were extremely disappointed to learn that that was not the case. Water continued to pool by our piers to the same degree, and the swampiness of our front lawn was effectively unchanged (see photos) from before the $6k investment with Mike (this was separate to the cost of the work for the piers, which was much more significant).After seeking a second and third opinion, it became clear that there were multiple serious flaws with Mikes work: (1) incorrect depth of pipe, (2) incorrect stone for the type of dirt, and (3) improper connections throughout the system resulting in ineffective water funneling. A more concerning issue was that he did not properly communicate the need for more dirt to properly grade the earth, resulting in a final grade towards our home, not away.We made several attempts over a 3-month period to work with Mike to either fix the problem or to have him partially reimburse us, which was met with repeated non-responsiveness, until he eventually did, only to take no responsibility for any of the issues called out above.Needless to say, I had to find and pay another contractor for a full redo, which has proven to be unbelievably more effective than Mikes work.I can only hope that similar shortcuts were not taken with my foundation piers, but time will tell. A heinously disappointing and costly end to what started off well.Please think twice or get everything in writing if you choose to engage Mike.

Mike Maxim and his team are amazing. He and his team regraded our driveway, which had not been properly regraded in many years. His receptionist was very responsive to my emails, when he provided a quote for the work he did not aggressively try to upsell us on any additional projects, and hs price was very reasonable. On the day that he came to do the work, the team worked quickly and now our driveway looks great. We will definitely hire him again for other projects in the future.

We have worked with Mike Maxim and Mountain Ridge on several projects around the house, from small to large. This summer, Mike and his team replaced our full roof , including seven new sky lights, new fascia and gutters. They worked with us through the process, were fairly priced and did a professional job. Mike is very communicative and does what he can to make things happen. We have also worked with Mountain Ridge on some electric work – including installing a chandelier. We have already discussed future projects with Mike and his team and look forward to working with them again.

We had an emergency that needed a quick fix to our floor to install a new furnace and Mike and his crew came to our rescue. He was very responsive, understood the timely situation and took care of everything in the time he promised to and more. He went above and beyond to make phone calls for me as well to help my heating situation which was very much appreciated. Mike is a hard worker and a man of integrity who was quick to return my calls, come see my project and generate a reasonable cost and time estimate. Mike and his team installed new windows in our house. We had 2 enlargements and several replacements. They did an incredible job and the windows and the trim! Mike even let us ship the windows to their shop since they could not be delivered to our house. While he was there he was able to take down a couple problem trees for us. Thanks so much!

I was introduced to Mike by a mutual friend. I had a semi-big project that I have wanted done for years. I spoke with Mike about the details, his professionalism and knowledge made me feel comfortable to proceed. We discussed the work I wanted done, negotiated a fair price and a timeline for the work to be completed. Mike delivered on exactly with what was discussed. I live downstate and was concerned that I could not be there when the work was performed. Mike eased my mine by providing daily updates with many pictures. When I returned upstate Mike came over and we went over the project step by step. Mike and his company delivered. It was comforting to deal with a contractor that did precisely what he said he was going to do IN the time he said he was going to do it. I needed some dead and dying ash trees removed and thought I had found someone to do it. After two months of getting nowhere with the person, I randomly googled tree services in the area and found Mountain Ridge. Mike was great - came to give an estimate the same day we talked and came in with a very competitive estimate.Unlike my previous person, Mike said he could do the work the same week. In two days Mike and his crew arrived and they finished the job in a few hours. All the guys were professional and nice and they worked with us to do exactly what we wanted, including adding a few more trees for removal.Mike went out of his way to ensure that we were happy with everything, and we were. Originally we had contacted Mike to remove many large trees on our property. We were so impressed with mikes knowledge, professionalism and ability that we now consistently go to him for any work/projects.We also had him grade and stone our driveway (over 1000 feet, up hill). Mike immediately showed up and walked us through the steps of what he would be doing, answering all our questions and addressing our concerns. He and his crew showed up exactly when they said they would (something I value as we have had several other contractors who don’t show up or disappear half way through the job). He repeatedly checked in to see if we had any issues as the job progressed. We had an existing fire pit expanded and enhanced. They also replaced a non-functioning gutter on the house. It was replaced efficiently and quickly. With all the rain we've had, this job was really necessary. The new gutter looks great.Regarding the fire pit, Mike and his team were courteous, competent and responsive to our requests and ideas.
