Evan was fantastic! He was friendly, knowledgeable, worked diligently, explained the process along the way, and figured out the root cause of the issue! We almost lost hope, but he figured it out and got the furnace working again.We can't thank you enough, so Thank you!Oh and P.S., we called for our furnace late night, and the very next day we got someone to help us (I expected a response within a few days, but not even 24hrs later, Evan shows up). That response exceeded my expectations. Thank you again.

This is hands down the worst company I have ever dealt with. The prices for their fuel are outrageous. Customer service is terrible. I called for a tech to unlock my tank and they never showed up. Three days without heat and hot water.

I would like to start by saying that I am no longer a customer of Carpenter and Smith because I moved to a home that no longer requires their products and services, BUT, the AMAZING customer that I experienced while using then made me feel compelled to write a review. Through the initial set up of my account, to scheduled maintenance, hassle free repairs under their service agreement and the closing of my accounts, I never, not one single time, did not feel valued as a customer. In fact they make you feel like a family member. The deliveries were always on time. The communication received by the office and field personnel was always outstanding. I hope everyone who reads this who is looking for fuel oil or propane services gives them a shot. They are the best in the business!!!

The worst company ever I gave up on them and told them to send my account to collection I call so many times and my issue never gets resolve they have an attitude when you speak to them. there are crooks making my bill go up without no delivery don’t do no business there are funny

We would like to give and share our appreciation for technician Julian #696. He was really helpful and went out of his job to even help with something else. He was knowledgeable and we loved that every question asked was answered properly and in a proper manner. He gave us suggestions which we found helpful. We thought more money will be spent and it’s good when a person who knows gives you options and tell you what’s the best decision or most effective way. My wife thinks he was god sent and appreciated the cost effective advised he gave us.We would like also to give credits to Carrie Ann she always help us with the best deals. She always managed to solve all of our problems and concerns , she treat us as if we are family. We appreciate how she so sweet and communicative.

You have the most amazing team from KerriAnne whonis such a gem and always lifts my spirit in these hard times we are all facing. Paula is wonderful and everyone there from the very courteous drivers that deliver fuel etc. I come from a hospitality back ground and this is so important in any business. We ran out of oil today, day before the holidays and right before the temp drops. Carpenter and Smith were AMAZING! They had someone at my house within 2 hours of my call. They called me back many times to reassure me that we would have heat and hot water, highly recommend them!

We are very happy with Carpenter and Smith. We have been with them a few years now after a very bad experience with another vendor. I have to say the staff is super friendly and very responsive. Have had a few issues with our boiler over the years and the staff has always been great. Additionally whenever we request and additions such as a new heater they have been responsive. Have and will continue to recommended them.

I have been with carpenter and Smith for 16 yrs. Pay monthly for my oil and when I need oil they consistently give me a hard time. I owe money but pay 500 a monthWe had to pay 2 months in advance in order to get a delivery and we are senior citizens. Awful

Calling on all of my brother and sister first responders in the area: Never have I experienced such atrocious customer service. I called today to inquire why my oil delivery was $4.99 per gallon when local competitors are charging significantly less (up to $1.20 less per gallon). Carpenter & Smith offered to reduce my cost by $0.15 per gallon, still a huge disparity from other oil providers. When I asked how to go about canceling my oil contract with Carpenter & Smith, I was transferred to a disrespectful, condescending and overall volatile woman named Dorothy. She informed me that if I canceled my oil contract, I would also lose my service contract, which I have already paid for. She informed me that this information was "company policy" and that I could find it on the website. After scouring through the Carpenter & Smith webpage, this disclaimer is not there, so I called Dorothy back and told her and was informed that I would receive a pamphlet in the mail explaining this. The company's failure to post important disclaimers such as this on the website is poor business etiquette and leads me to believe that they are running a mismanaged organization that does not value their customers. Additionally, during the back and forth with Dorothy, she clearly demonstrated that my current business with Carpenter & Smith is undervalued, using a tone that was both rude and to say the least unprofessional. She even said something along the lines of "when I go to the grocery store, I don't want to pay those prices, but I have to." Yes, that might be the case when it comes to the supermarket, but what most intelligent individuals do it scout out other providers and compare prices...something I did. The fact that I will lose out on the approximate $479 service contract simply because I choose to receive my oil delivery from another company is ludicrous. I urge all current Carpenter & Smith customers in the area to reassess their business relationship with this unscrupulous company, and for anyone contemplating using them in the future, get your oil from somewhere else.

Made the mistake of being on auto-delivery. They charged $1.50 more than current market of oil. They justified it buy saying they offer 30 day payment terms (a high interest credit card would be significantly cheaper. That they guarantee I won't run out of oil (even if I did, it would be less than the $350 extra I paid). And third because I could be on a service plan - that I would have to pay extra. These reason do not justify it - they take advantage of loyal customers, hoping you are to dumb to understand or notice.

Price gouging at its’ finest. Every delivery is a battle to get a fair price. I always ask for the current price before accepting a will call delivery but this last one got passed me as I must have misheard the quote. $4.99 a gallon! That’s up over 30% from just a few weeks ago. I understand oil is up all over the country but it’s not that high (yet)They agreed to knock off 15 cents a gallon. Not good enough. I called a competitor for my next delivery, more than $1.50 cheaper per gallon. Easy decision.We stayed with them for too long and won’t be back.

Great company for Oil and Gas ( yes i use them for both). Prices are much much better than other companies that service orange county, NY. The techs are extremely knowledgable and go out of their way to make sure the job is done right the first time. Billing is super simple through their online web portal.

Worst company ever! I paid for maintenance close to $500 my boiler needed a relay to be replaced. They replaced it with a refurbished they buy wholesale at $15 or less the piece and charged me $250.00 for it. The relay broke the week after, I called them again because I am paying the yearly maintenance. It was replaced by another cheap relay, this time I was charged 250$ I said why? Because we replaced it they said. Home Depot sells Honeywell brand new for less than 80$.. why are you overcharging? They did not replace their burned unit and charged me hundreds more. Refused to give me a copy of my bills on file. Don’t do business with them, I wish I could give them 0 stars... disgusting company!

We are a local Pre-school/Daycare center, and we contacted Carpenter & Smith's AC service department for an emergency repair. Carpenter & Smith Upon arrival the next day, the tec had no proper equipment to fix the AC unit and misdiagnosed the problem. We requested for the Tec to add refrigerant to our second unit to keep our classroom cool and the Tec stated,"He did not have any refrigerant in his truck" and couldn't help us. After a second call was placed to Carpenter & Smith about the first Tec, they stated they will send a second tec the following day. On the second day, the second tec arrived and he too was unable to fix or look at the AC units because "he did not bring a ladder". He too was not prepared and was not able to fix our AC units and left without performing any service to the ACs.On Monday, we placed a call to another local AC company, and they were able to arrive the same day and it took them one hour to not only fix the first AC unit but the second AC unit as well. The respond I received from the service office was not sensitive to this matter to say the lease. The office manager at carpenter & smith needs some sensitivity training.Hopefully they won't do this to other customers.

They've be coming to my house on a frequent basis and charging a TON, and I'm very suspicious about whether they're putting in what they say they are. The sheer amount that they put in a very short period of time makes me and my wife wonder.I'm not there when they refuel, so I have no idea whether the amount they're putting in is accurate or not. On one occasion they did come when I was there, and they finished within a minute or two, and it was a massive amount of fuel invoice had. I was stunned at how much oil that had been added in such a rapid amount of time, especially given that they're refueled my home just a two o three weeks earlier. It makes me uncomfortable with the whole process. Unless I'm there and I can actually watch them add oil, I'm not comfortable. It cost me a fortune this winter in oil costs with them and I had the thermostat down really low. How did all this oil get used so quickly? Unless they're going to let me watch them refuel in the future, I think I'm going to move on. As Reagan once said, "Trust but verify." If I cant verify how much oil is being put in each time they fill it up, I'm not comfortable with this process. If you were refueling your car at a gas station, wouldn't you want to be able to verify what's being put in by the person that's pumping the gas?

They are liars, scammers and forgeries. They charged for services that they never did. Im fighting with these crooks now. Got oil all over my wood floors and not even I'm sorry from they. They are truly as nasty as they come. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. They are disgusting. Dorothy called from Carpenter & Smith on 2/6 to advise us they reviewed our account and they were going to send out a letter stating we had a 0 balance. Today is 2/14 and we have not yet received the letter promised. I am calling Dorothy on 2/17 to follow up and to also request a reimbursement of $175 on account payments. The conversation had with Dorothy on 2/6 when she advised us on the phone we had a 0 balance, was recorded. Apparently they also lied about the letter. It just continues. Terrible. Just a terrible company. The absolute most dishonest company. They are the worst

3rd time with an empty tank in the last 12 months - while on auto renewCall emergency service on a sunday and had to wait 5 hours only to have a grill canister worth of propane delivered. Propane promptly ran out at 7 pm the same day. Who sticks a grill canister full of propane in a 500 gallon tank - unbelievable.Therefore I have to start all over. Nobody called back - cold house all evening.The absolute worst company - totally incompetent

As of today I paid my last balance off and will be looking for a new oil company. Even during this pandemic did they not offer any kind of help what so ever, Shameful!

I signed for an oil discount last and it went out with the person who sold it to me (signed agreements and all). The office Manager, Britney who unfortunately has no customer service aptitude. Said, they couldn't get into Marys file (Hogwash). She also fails to realize the average educated customer understand how companies buy oil (cheap & tons of gallons in advance) as she claimed they might not have enough to give me a discount (lol) and the discounts start in September/Oct. I purchased oil heat all my adult life at homes I've owned. If they want to give you a discount, they do. Period. So stay far away!! CS went out with their previous staff and the current are "too smart" (giggling) for their own good. There are too many oil vendor to be bothered by this one. Especially, if they want price gauge their loyal customers.

Mike came to do maintenance on our A/C. He told us exactly what he was going to do. We are extremely happy with what he did and requested that he does the yearly maintenance in the future. No other A/C technician has ever asked for a hose to clean the grass that was built up in the unit outside.
