Building a home with JAG gave me something I never expected, an extended family. Our project manager Nate listened and provided solutions throughout the entire process. Each and every member of the family, whether they were employees (like Noi, Kyle, Levy, Mike, Pete, and many more) or subcontractors, they treated our home as if it were theirs - with great care, attention to detail, and pride in their craft. When building a home, it's about the people who want to do a fantastic job, not just getting the job done. I am truly thankful for selecting JAG to fulfill our dream. We could not have had a better experience with JAG. Every single step of the process with every member of the JAG team was thoughtful and intentional. At the start of our project, John (the head of the renovation team at JAG) took 3+ hours to walk us through every single element of the cost projection prior to beginning work.Every hurdle that we encountered was clearly communicated to us, and the transparency was greatly appreciated. We love JAG! We feel fortunate to be able to work with JAG for our addition/renovation. John worked with us closely around budget, schedules, plans and all the details. Since we were not able to move out during the construction, John worked out a schedule to ensure we could stay in our home while the work progressed. From the very beginning it was obvious we were working with experienced, skilled professionals. They were very respectful of our property, us, and our very anxious dog. As with any renovation project there were a few challenges but John and the JAG team are problem solvers. They quickly resolved the few issues that cropped up with an appreciated focus on solving the issue quickly and the best way possible.All the JAG employees and sub-contractors were absolutely terrific. Every one was friendly and skilled at the work they were performing. The office staff was friendly and responsive. The pace of work was impressive. From the time work started to the final day of finish work there was someone working at our house every week. With a small lot and little space to store material it was amazing to see things appear then only a few days later the crew showed up to work with the material.If we are ever in need of renovation work or an addition we will wait for JAG. These guys are great!Following a bad experience with contractors during our home renovation, my wife and I decided to get bids for a room addition from several full service remodeling companies.During the bid process J.A.G. was the best at providing a comprehensive detailed quote. Project Manager John Humbert was attentive to our concerns and very easy to work with. He followed up with an accurate schedule and provided advice and recommendations. We approached John about several deviations from the plans and he provided recommendations and had his crew handle the changes. The room addition was completed on time and on budget. JAG Construction has been instrumental in assisting us with several projects at our home and business. The staff is always very courteous and helpful and the Office Manager was especially helpful in pairing us with the right sub-contractors that we needed for our projects. All of the Project Managers are highly knowledgeable about all arenas of home building and construction, from the slab to the roof and they are particularly good when it comes to steep-slope engineering and site design, dealing with HOA's and running interference between the client and the lenders. The JAG team helped me build my dream home, and they did a fantastic job of it. My house is sturdy, energy efficient, low maintenance, and beautiful. We broke ground just before COVID hit, and my construction manager scrambled to make sure we would have all the materials we needed before manufacturing was disrupted. Thus, even though my home was built mostly during lockdown, it was finished on time and only slightly above budget. This still feels like a miracle.Everyone who works for JAG is respectful and kind. As a single woman, I'm often condescended to by people working in the trades (okay, men), but that never happened with anyone who works for JAG. My construction manager understood my aesthetics and goals, and we worked together seamlessly. We moved into our custom JAG home in September 2018 and could not be happier. After meeting Jody Guokas nine years prior and watching his company develop into one of the leading green builders in the Asheville area, we knew we wanted to work with him when were finally ready to build. His passion for sustainability combined with his relaxed demeanor made that decision easy.After hearing many horror stories over the years about building, we consider ourselves lucky as we found the whole undertaking to be exciting, interesting and pleasant. JAG has a terrific crew - office and otherwise - that is available for questions and assistance throughout the process, and we felt like we gained a good friend in our project manager, Kevin. The whole team is professional and courteous, yet easy going.During the budgeting process we never discussed a desired Energy Star rating despite our wish to be as sustainable as possible. I highly recommend JAG for renovations. They offer high quality work at a fair price. Their estimates are the most detailed and accurate estimates you will find anywhere. Probably the most important reason to choose JAG though is their communication. They are very responsive (always getting back to me on issues within hours -even on weekends) and I never felt like I was hearing a sales pitch. We have some experience with remodeling, but we never built from scratch. We researched local builders, and were quickly hooked on JAG. The collaboration throughout the organization is impressive. Rob Johnson was our direct contact. Communications were always open and timely. Suggestions from Rob were excellent (e.g. screened back porch was the pinnacle). Loved the limited standard options for finishes, and the willingness Rob & JAG provided when we went "off-menu".On the occasions when Rob didn't have a specific answer, Jody or Gary or Noi or Donna were in the know. JAG Construction did an amazing job with my new custom green home in West Asheville. Not only was the home finished on time and within budget, but the crew was great to work with throughout the process. I especially appreciate their friendliness and them accommodating my visits to the site during construction. They took time to answer my questions throughout the build, even when it was clear that my questions were not that intelligent. Jody Guokas helped with decision making with materials and products during the design, and his suggestions were spot on. My energy bills have been extremely low and my HERS score was 46, which means that my home uses only 46% of the energy compared to a similar home built to building code standards. There have not been many call backs on warranty items, but JAG has been responsive and timely to fix things. Can't say enough good things about my experience with JAG Construction.

“Dream house” turns into a money pit with repairs for poor work, corners cut and lack of response from builders. Leaking ceiling, MOLD growing in two bathrooms from vents placed incorrectly and without a close option (which confused the home inspector we hired as they are supposed to be flaps that open when the fan is engaged). Exterior paint cracking. Missing caulking. We have to empty a dehumidifier twice a day with the amount of moisture coming in and we don’t open windows. We called about the leaking ceiling and the individual who came out was irritated we were bothering him. Paid for all repairs ourselves and still ongoing with an independent contractor. Truly shocked. You would think a new home would have zero issues and yet I’ve never encountered this many in my entire life. the financial drain for repairs makes us wish we found other builders or bought an existing home.Services: Tile work installation, Fan installation, Repair water fixtures, Project management, Custom home design

I have lived in woodfin and paid taxes for over 20 years I’m a Asheville native my wife’s family has lived on Chestnut Ridge for over 100 years. life has been great until jag moved in with their building projects and ruined our home,broke our mailbox! And has stated they we’re going to replace it and so far no mailbox! I know big surprise! I don’t know what I would do if someone actually done what they said they would do. they make noise all day till dark I work third shift I can’t sleep I don’t know what to do I feel as if us as home owners have no rights and they have all rights to terrorize us we don’t know what to do but my mental health and my wife’s mental health is suffering for it and now they are blocking my driveway
