We have followed Livingstone Design and Build for several years, so it was an easy decision to have them build our home. The quality of workmanship has been superior and surpassed our expectations. Livingston listened and understood what we wanted in an aging in place home, everything from curbless showers, lighting, electrical outlets, and lever door handles to minimal exterior maintenance.The entire process was seamless from start to finish.The design team took our wish-list and turned it into a reality, they were easy to communicate with and understood what we were looking for in regards to space and living flow within a new home.Livingstone personnel were available for all onsite meetings, flexible for adjustment, and provided invaluable guidance throughout the building process. Co-construct software was an added benefit and a great way to keep track of the process with photos added almost daily, keeping track of the budget inspections, etc. plus a permanent way to keep track of warranty and records.The quality of the products used was very important to us and we were not disappointed, all the individuals that worked on our home were top-quality craftsmen.We wanted an environmentally green and energy efficient home and we received that.We Love our home and would do it all over again with Livingstone, no regrets whatsoever!Services: Custom home design, Home building, Interior design

Extremely DisappointedMy wife and I engaged Living Stone to build our dream house in Asheville. We made this decision based on positive PR and their excellent sales presentation. Unfortunately, we did not do our homework. We did not seek out references or even visit one of their completed homes. We didn't even check the dates or sources of their raving reviews.The most recent positive review of Livingstone by an actual homeowner (excluding subcontractors, business partners, and family members) appears to have been posted quite some time ago. Although their hype may have been justified in years past, it is no longer warranted, in my opinion.We credit them with introducing us to a wonderful architect and a top-notch designer, yet we were frustrated and disappointed with the extent to which they wasted our time and money. We spent about six months paying for their "professional advice and guidance" during the pre-build planning process. They were very attentive to their billing process but unengaged with the design and layout of the home.They seemed bothered when we asked questions. They were constantly unclear or vague about our next steps. We were charged for a meet-n-greet with their team and told that we needed things of questionable necessity. They sent us to our HOA's approval board ill-prepared even though they had first-hand experience buiding in this community. When a colossal error occurred resulting from their failure to look at our plans, they blamed us for having attended a meeting without them. That's when we finally cut ties.My wife and I made it abundantly clear to Livingstone that neither of us had experience in the home construction industry. We depended on them to guide us through the home-building process. We looked to them for expert input, yet the people on their team with building expertise swooped in only two or three times to clarify billing-related miscommunications. Those experts did not participate in planning or review meetings, except for one 30-minute call at our request. We had more meaningful communication and saw more progress with our new builder in the first week than with Livingstone in nine months.What a painful experience! We fell for Livingstone's marketing and sales pitch. We believed they were all about transparency and attention to customer satisfaction. That could not have been further from the truth. In the end, they were only attentive to one thing: their billing process.Happy to have cut ties.Service: Home blueprint design creation

I do work for hundred if not thousands of contractors and I can honestly say that Livingstone lives up to their reputation!! From the initial estimating process to the final punch list they are organized all the way thru. I am not a customer but a sub and they make sure to keep the schedule moving along so the subs can do their jobs effectively and efficiently. This makes the process for the homeowners a much smoother job and allows the subs to do their work easily. This is rare to find in a contractor and you should know you will be in good hands with these guys. Great group of people that build wonderful homes!!

We haven't had them build our home yet, but meeting with them was excellent. We love the idea of full transparency (cost plus) so you don't have to worry about all jobs being subbed to the lowest bidder. Their full in house design and build program sounds fantastic, as well as their commitment to building a energy efficient and high air quality home.
