We purchased a new home from Cuevas in 2020 and had several issues which he would not correct. During pre-closing inspection, moisture was noted on one of the crawlspace foundation walls and on the ground. Cuevas then installed a french drain before closing. Two months later, mold was noted in one of the closets on the main level. My husband went into the crawlspace and saw there was still water on the back wall and ground. Builder was notified but was slow to respond and insisted that blocked gutters/downspouts were the cause. We then noticed a white substance growing on the floor joists in the crawlspace and contacted him again. He showed up at our house without notice when we weren’t there and claimed to have re-routed the downspout but didn’t address the mold issue. We then had three mold remediation companies assess the crawl space situation and all said we had a mold problem due to high humidity in the crawlspace. All said the crawlspace should have been encapsulated and had a dehumidifier installed. We contacted builder AGAIN about the moisture issue that was noted during pre-closing inspection and the resultant mold. He paid for treatment of the existing mold but refused to do the right thing and take care of the root problem which was to eliminate the crawlspace moisture noted during the inspection by encapsulating and installing dehumidifier.Additionally, much of the finishing work was sloppy and incomplete. We spent hours on hands and knees scrubbing excessive grout that was left on all tile floors and the shower stall. Tile work in the shower and tub area was so sloppy that my husband finished the shower himself and completely ripped out the tile around the tub. Much construction debris was swept/left in the ductwork, in drawers, on top of and even under/behind kitchen cabinets. Other contractors couldn’t believe it when they saw it.There were additional issues we brought to his attention that he would not fix. For example, the tub was not supported properly on the floor, causing it to shift up and down under weight. Cuevas came in, looked at it, shrugged his shoulders and said there was nothing he could do. My husband took a day off to fix it himself and, yes, it was fixable.
