If I were to review Marine Black alone - this would be 5-star. She's done and continues to do everything in her power to make my first home perfect and it is very appreciated. She has been contactable and eager to assist. I do acknowledge that Horizons East has begun moving on from some subpar contractors, which is great, but the issues faced should have been noted during installation by the HVAC company and they chose not to. With this issue known, HE should have proactively assessed all homes with installations in that period.

Unfortunately have to agree with all the one star reviews as well. We bought in 2021, from out of state and in a rush after selling our previous home. We have had so many problems from HVAC, plumbing, windows, electrical, flooring, drywall… sadly we thought we were buying a well built brand new house, unfortunately there is little accountability of the subcontractors that horizons east uses and it has lead to many problems and tons of issues. I wish I had looked at reviews and had the luxury of time to find a trust worthy builder. 2 years after warranty claims we are still having issues. You knows it’s bad when the contractors they are sending to fix problems are bad mouthing the work previously done. Leaves a sickening feeling in your stomach about your home

Do not, I repeat do not but a horizons east home. Moved from another state during the height of the market so bought the house virtually thinking it's a brand new home, shouldn't be too many issues.Had I seen it in person would never had bought it. Too many issues for a new home this expensive.Whether it's horizons east or their contractors it's inexcusable. Lights weren't hung, where they should have been, ceiling fan switches wired backwards, HVAC doesn't work properly, takes 5 minutes to get hot water to master bathroom, backyard wasn't leveled properly so standing water on side of my yard, poor painting, the list goes on and on. In Missouri a bunch of their stuff wouldn't even pass code, let alone be acceptable for a brand new home.Even when I made warranty claims they didn't make anything better. Forgot to put our mud bench in, guy comes out and does it in under 2 hours. It's too tall and too shallow for any adult to sit on and dimensions are unusable for any non custom storage bins or baskets. HVAC guy came out, told me he fixed the "issue" but literally couldn't tell me what the "issue" was. Long story short, he didn't fix the "issue".To make matters worse, for the price, they skimp on a lot. No gutters, no garbage disposal, fireplace doesn't actually emit heat, windows are low grade, paint is somehow worse than builders grade.Talked to other neighbors in our neighboord with HE homes, and they'll echo the same sentiments.As soon as we can afford to move again, we will. That should day something about how poor this company is considering how expensive moving is.

Marine Black was very helpful and provided a new homeowners orientation for us after we purchased the home. This provided a lot of information in terms of the warranties to be on the lookout for over the next few months. I did let Marine know that having the Warranty booklet in a digital format and emailed out to the buyers prior to closing would have been extremely helpful. That way new homeowners can be aware of these things prior to the blue tape walkthrough.

Thank You Horizons East,We moved into our Beautiful home yesterday. We had our walk through and had some blue tape items, but when we did our walk through yesterday 95% of everything that needed done was finished. I cannot say enough amazing things about Marine, she is very efficient at her job. We asked her many questions, she was very patient and polite and told us in extent what we needed to know. In my opinion she is a great asset to Horizons East and knows her job!!!!! Marine saw items in our home that we did not see and had them taken care of. I love our Floorplan! The extra touches that are added to the home mean so much...shower curtain rod, rounded doorways, having all of the downstairs done in LVP flooring. We have a few items left on our punch list but I trust that it will be done. Spencer was at our first walk through and he did a great job also, he helped us put blue tape where it needed to be and also explained everything well to us. I feel like Horizons East did a good job on our home, it is man made, no one is perfect! They certainly are not trying to hide anything!!!Even as close to the holiday as it is they worked hard to get what needed to be done fixed ! Even through the “Housing Boom”, the “COVID Supply Chain Problems” and extremely busy sub-contractors, Horizons East was able to build us our forever dream home! The Builder was able to give us exactly what we wanted and helped us with many issues by giving us suggestions and to help resolve them. Even after the one year warranty they made good on any problems that had arisen. Most all of this was done with their knowledgeable “Warranty Department”. Marine was fantastic! She was there for us anytime we needed help and couldn’t have been better at her job. The Builder should be very proud to have such a loyal, intelligent and friendly person to handle that HUGE job. Also a Special thanks to Brandon as well. He helped us from the beginning. He, Marine and the builder went out of their way to make sure all our problems were resolved and we are forever grateful! Sadly, these homes were not built with quality. The entire neighborhood received an AC unit too small for the homes. This, along with poor instillation, caused many homes AC units to stop working right after the homes were built. When I spoke to the builder, they explained that “it’s an NC environmental thing. When it gets too hot, your house won’t cool down as much.” I knew I had been lied to, so when the AC repairman checked, he noticed that the unit was the wrong size and there was a frayed cable. There are also many electrical issues such as light circuits not receiving enough power to fully light. My sinks were installed crooked, and the bathroom sink was installed attached to the wall but not on the studs. The warranty fixes… good luck getting people to come fix things. I was a one of the lucky ones that at least had the AC repairman and carpet cleaners fix my issues, but my neighbors weren’t so lucky with their issues.The builders also refused to provide touch up paint at closing or even providing the color shade so that I can purchase my own. The builders also neglected to give screen doors that should have been included with the houses. After speaking with and visiting many of my neighbors homes, we’ve noticed huge inconsistencies with our homes. My closing process was also a nightmare with the builders due to a lack of communication, and the builder eventually getting an attitude with my realtor.Overall, I believed these houses were rushed and many corners were cut. When expressing our grievances and concerns, the builders would become dismissive and defensive. I do not wish for this review to be seen as negative complaining, but as constructive criticism for future business improvements. Unfortunately, this was an extremely stressful first home buying experience.

We haven't even made our 2nd mortgage payment and we've already lost use of the master bath shower. It was installed without a support structure and developed a crack in the bottom. They refuse to fix it because "it was not listed on the blue tape walk through". How could it have been? Did they have a representative take a shower for the walk through? Doubtful, so logically it wouldn't have manifested until actual use. Definitely not the quality one would expect for $322,000.

We think Horizons East has good housing plans and value, but some of the implementation was sloppy. They had to fix our drywall three times and that led to a lot of dust in the ducts. We ask to meet with the Builder- Jennifer and she refused. Plus some of the houses color were similar, which makes it look cookie cutter.They need improvement in Customer Service and Professionalism.

We bought from Horizons East in Feb ‘21. The house has been great, some minor issues were addressed by Horizons East. We did run into issues with our HVAC system. Horizons East took responsibility and helped address issues, outside their year warranty. Through high volume construction and COVID supply issues, HE was able to make sure our new home perfect for us. Special thanks to the warranty staff for all their help.

5 Stars for the warranty department under Sara Lushinski at Horizon's East. We bought our home a year ago and Sara has a 100% track record when it comes to communicating effectively and getting the warranty items handled. She takes time out of her busy schedule to follow up by email and giving the owner a great sense of handling the items as they should be handled. We feel that Sara is the best fit for the go between the company and the owners. We truly enjoyed meeting with her and even more so, knowing that our claims are being handled effectively. Thank you!

Horizons East did a solid job of building a new home for our family. We went with the Dallas floor plan, which has an awesome layout and a ton of space upstairs and down. Our construction spanned about 9 months, during which the gas shortage, covid resurgence, labor shortage, lumber shortage, and supply chain issues came up. Mariah at their office did a pretty good job of responding to emails we had asking for information, although sometimes it felt like we had to be the ones to reach out. But I understand this given all of the things that came up outside of their control during construction. Drew, the super, and Matt, the warranty guy, were great to work with and helped us feel great about the state of the house moving in. All in all a good experience and the end product is exactly what we wanted.

I wanted to wait until they finished my punch list to post the most accurate review, but after a month I've given up. I’m sure they will use the “COVID or material shortage excuse” which is HILARIOUS as the other builders in the neighborhood (Peletier Shores) seem to have no issues building quality homes, with shutters and properly advertised windows.If this company ever built anything quality, it must have been under past management. I would say, “It is my opinion that Horizon East/Jennifer Morton…” but it no longer is an opinion when every person I’ve had the pleasure to speak with repeats the same issues.So.Horizon East is a mismanaged company that builds low quality homes.If you go into the buying process knowing this, Horizon East is a mismanaged company that builds low quality homes, you will be satisfied with what they build for you.They obviously don’t physically build or sell their homes, but they do hire the individuals that do or oversee the process.ISSUESI was led to believe my contract was going to be canceled if I didn't play nice and remove my previous reviews. But now we have closed… *Disclaimer. Yes they gave me an “out”, to give back all my money. BUT where could I have gone? My family spent 39 days in a hotel and we had been waiting since October for them to build this home. Closed June 23rd 2021.Not sure which side lied through their teeth or if they are equally complicit. House was not built as advertised, and I was told the render was old. However, 2 other homes in my neighborhood are being built the way I was told they do not build it, the way I wanted.The siding, which was on the punch out list has not been corrected, nor have my shutters been installed.I have many additional complaints ranging from the terrible QC, them building a nearly identical house across the street (after I was denied a build because a similar house was too close), to our backyard not being seeded properly. The cost to fix the backyard will exceed $10,000. This will be necessary to prevent any further erosion over the leach field and exposing any more of that plumbing. Oh this one is good, “We don’t determine the placement of the leach field”.“Oh hey neighbor, why isn't your leach field on top of your backdoor?” Neighbor, “We paid to have them move it back”.Now this wouldn't necessarily be a big deal, but my disappointing (in my opinion, however shared by many in the neighborhood. Welcome to the neighborhood Andrew.) Realtor, Andrew from 360 Realty, KNEW I cared more about my backyard than any other detail in my home.The stress and anger building this house with these companies has given me many sleepless nights with unnecessary stress as I prepare for a deployment.After speaking to multiple people, in the Peletier Shores Neighborhood and other neighborhoods Horizon East is involved in, I have found only 1 person that has a different or improved opinion, my Realtor.This review is to only warn you. I wish I had been in the position to have seen Horizon Easts work in person before buying, but COVID restrictions prevented me from leaving my previous state.

Okay, I’m not really sure where to begin with this review.. my husband and I closed on our home with them back in January 2021- it has been one headache after another!! The whole closing process was a nightmare, the amount of miscommunication and not caring was horrifying. If you buy from out of state BE WARNED, they will play you like no one else and use any excuse possible for their behavior. We have had part of our flooring ripped up in our house since the first month we moved in (water damage),weeks of trying to get a reimbursement for an insanely expensive water bill due to a water leak that happened before we even closed, dead bushes in the front yard, and no door will completely latch unless it’s dead bolted so we’re often finding our front door blown open. Also I hope you’re ready to pick up cigarettes and old rusty nails for months to come. Honestly I feel like this company has great potential to be an amazing company, but they aren’t overseeing everything going on with the contractors, listing agent, and everyone else involved.We LOVE the location of our home, we just wish we could have had different builders.

Always a front runner, Jennifer and her crew continue to meet the challenge of delivering a quality home with the latest finishes while keeping family friendly budgets from the mid 100's to the custom needs of the client seeking to build a true custom home with much larger budgets. Jennifer is one of the only builders I know who meets one on one with prospective buyers and their agent and takes them from drawing a plan through every step of the build. There are only 5 stars on the review, but she deserves more.
