I used Chapman’s for overall repair, painting, backsplash and replacement of my bathroom floor. I was pleased with all, except for the bathroom floor, which was a disaster. Chris Chapman replaced my bathroom floor LVP with ceramic tile. The same evening that Chris completed the floor, the tiles were moving, as the grouting was cracking up, immediately. I contacted Chris the evening they finished (when I heard sounds as I walked on the floor) and advised that the tiles were moving as I stepped on them, & were literally making crunching noises. He advised that he would repair, but I would have to pay him to redo it! Chris advised that he told me not to walk on it. He had told me not to walk on it the PREVIOUS two nights, but upon completion of the floor, his only instructions were not to wash it for a “couple of days”. Even if he had said not to walk on it the day of completion, it would not have mattered, b/c his crew of 4 were walking on it/painting in the bathroom ALL of the last day. I sent pics and video of the grout cracking to one of his crew, who responded advising that he would do the repair. I appreciated that, but I advised that the job needs to be done under the contract that I had with Chapman’s. I made the claim on Chris’ insurance, as a formality, as I know that most commercial policies cover damage to my property due to negligence, rather than outright shoddy work, and that the claim would be denied. However, I wanted this incident on the record with his insurance carrier. I have had the floor redone, & I now know that Chris placed ceramic tiles directly on top of my old vinyl flooring (which was underneath the LVP), without placing the perma back cement board UNDERNEATH the tiles. He also failed to use levelers. Due to this, the tiles were moving up and down, thereby cracking the grout. I have a video showing the moving tiles and crunching sounds, but am unable to upload along with the photos. Also, Chris increased the price by $800 in the middle of the job! I am taking Chris to court to recover my money that I spent having the floor redone.Services: Tile work installation, Drywall installation, Repair flooring, Drywall repair
