From my experience as a sub this GC cannot be trusted during the bidding process. I was told on multiple occasions that we were the low number and the number that they plugged in and used for their bid. I called to check up on the status of the project and was told again that we were the low number in the estimators system. The estimator called in the Project Manager and put it on speaker phone at which point the PM stated that we were 3rd with our price. I am guessing the PM had different quotes than the Estimator? I simply asked how this is possible when I have been told repeatedly that we were the low number and this was just a minute earlier. Even though this method of selecting their preferred sub is not illegal in private projects, it is still frowned upon and we will not be sending this company anymore bids in the future.
