Carl, the owner of OBJ Construction, agreed to some contract work on our property and then never showed up to do the work. He also did not respond to texts or other means of communication. This appears to be consistent with other reviewers. Many of my neighbors have had essentially the same experience. He might be Owned By Jesus, but I doubt Jesus himself could get him to show up and do the job.

UPDATE: Since posting this review I have spoken with Carl after he came to my house and asked me to take down the review. He apologized for the timeline and seemed sincere. He explained that there were a lot of other things going on at the time and it was abnormally busy. So if you are looking for a family owned local construction business, these guys are good. Changing the my review stars from one to three because one bad job shouldnt stop a business from making money.Back in September we got an estimate for a new metal roof. We agreed to the price and Carl told us he'd order the materials and write us up a contract. Weeks passed and we hadn't heard from him. Finally at the end of October, he gave us the contract, and told us that he wouldn't be able to start until the end of the week because there was a lot of hurricane damage that he was helping out with. He said once he started, the roof would be up in a few days. He did not start later that week, and he did not even bring the materials to our house until mid November. When they started on the roof they were here for a couple hours and left. I figured they'd be back the next day, but nope. It was at least a week before they came back. 2-3 weeks from the first day they started, they had only come 3 times and then we were told that they had run out of supplies. All materials should have been ordered, but now they didn't have enough. It is now almost Christmas, and our roof is still not finished. Every time I call to see if they're coming, its a new excuse. He keeps telling me that they're coming the next day, and he promises to call me if anything changes, but he does not show up, and I dont get a call. Very unhappy with the service. We paid most of it up front which was apparently a big mistake. If you are using OBJ Construction for anything, make sure you dont pay up front because it will never get done. Also, if you need something to be done quickly, good luck because this company is not going to do it. We are sick of being told one thing and them not going through with it. These people need to learn how to keep their word.

Carl promised me for 4 years off and on after finishing my roof that he would come fix the problem. I texted him and talked to him at least 20 times. I've got text messages from him where he told me he was coming to my house and he never showed up. I had to pay Chavis Roofing $200 to fix the problem. He even acknowledged where and what the problem was. Carl should have came and fixed it. That 5-year warranty doesn't mean anything. My daughter had problems with her roof as well and Pittman construction had to come fix hers and hers was quite a bit of work. It was leaking down her walls. I was warned by a workmate before I got my roof done and I should have listened to her. I believe she had to take him to court. I also forgot to add that the man I originally got the metal for my roof from GAVE Carl some metal to match my roof he kept the metal and never brought it by my house even after I called and requested he bring the metal by my house so someone else could fix it. Carl told me that he bought the metal and that I would have to PAY him for the metal but I called the man he got the metal from and the man said Carl DID NOT pay for the metal. He gave the metal to Carl. Before I started having problems I referred 2 family members. I regretted that and hoped they would not have issues as I did. One did have to have him come back for something but it was fixed

Called and scheduled an appointment. Said he would be out Wednesday. Well, it’s Wednesday, he missed the appointment, I cannot get ahold of him, and we will have birds in our dryer again by tomorrow. DO NOT USE THEM.
