We went a little after 11:30am on a Saturday and it was the best time to go before the lunch rush. Service was a little slow but the food made up for it! Excellent gluten free roll with cheeseburger and the side salad was amazingly good! Crisp, fresh and homemade dressing made it spectacular! And my daughter loved her pizza! Definitely a must visit in Saluda!

I came in for a quick lunch after it was recommended by both the ziplining and white water rafting guides.The mushroom pizza was really good, and the sandwiches being brought out from the kitchen looked to be equally good.I would pass on dessert. The $9 bread pudding didn’t line up with a $19 specialty large pizza, in taste or value.

Stopped here while driving through, so glad I did. I was only planning to get an appetizer, but I heard that the special was Alaska Halibut, and I had to try. It was delicious. I've had freshly caught Halibut in Alaska. Purple Onions Halibut was tender, flaky, and juicy. The orzo/ goat cheese etc that out was sitting on? Sooo good. Will definitely stop by again if I'm in the area.

A good find, I feel there is plenty of variety for all.Food-wise, they very accommodating to Vegan and Gluten free options that are tasty. The flavor and taste of everything doesn’t have you desiring more of anything spice wise- superb job. I had a side salad (beet salad) and trout and was amazed at how each bite had a flavor adventure in and of itself.Staff is very kind and attentive.I look forward to when I’m passing through again- well done Purple onion!

I would give this restaurant 10 stars if I could. The atmosphere was amazing, staff was so friendly! But the steak…🤤🤤. Literally the best steak I have ever had. Everything was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend!

We stopped for a quick dinner after hiking and were pleasantly surprised. We had the wild mushroom pizza- we asked to add chicken but they forgot. No worries it was still wonderful! I’m a huge water snob and usually don’t like tap water but the water here was absolutely delicious! We would highly recommend this place and also come early to walk around this cute little town!

Amazing dining experience with outdoor seating available. The outdoor dining area is pet friendly. Food here is amazing and well worth the money spent. The staff are friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable, and helpful. This place is one of the nicer/fancier dining experiences in the Saluda area. It has a sophisticated atmosphere and awesome food to boot. The staff was very attentive, positive, and energetic. I definitely enjoyed my visit and will be returning for sure. I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area local or visitor!

Terrific lunch fare, prompt and relaxed service. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Very attractive atmosphere. Everyone cleared their plates and felt very satisfied. A few adults had cocktails and were really impressed with them.Vegetarian options: Cheese or veggie pizzas look delicious. Kid-friendliness: The food was accessible to children, though not specifically "kids menu" stuff.

Wow! Nice little place right on the street of a quaint town. Everything was very tasty.. Service was excellent. We ordered steak black and blue, trout dinner special, fig appetizer special, raspberry custard pie, and tiramisu. You won't be disappointed

Excellent food, dandy drink menu, and stellar service--plus live music. We loved the charcuterie board, the personal pizzas were tasty, and my mimosa sour beer was delicious.. I could not be more impressed with this place. Its only negative is it is located two hours from my house.Parking: Parking is easy to find on the street in front of the restaurant or nearby.

PURPLE POWER!We were blown away by the flavors. Each daily special dish had a great aioli or sauce to compliment it. The fish was crispy and stayed that way on top of the grits. Another dish, the turkey avocado melt was also outstanding. We were the last guests of the day this past Sunday and we had an excellent experience. Also, our server was awesome!Great Job Purple Onion!

This is an amazing delightful restaurant with plenty of great reviews and you will not be disappointed. Shout out to Joseph our waiter who made the whole experience even better.This charming establishment has local art hanging all around the restaurant, and also has a great courtyard with plenty of.outdoor seating.The food is amazing. The freshness and taste is amazing. We had the Mediterranean plate and shared a 10" pizza.and it was delicious. I can't do a good job describing the crust but it is different from any other I have tasted. Not too thin, cooked to perfection without burning the bottom.Like so many others here, I highly recommend the Purple Onion.

Great experience at The Purple Onion. The atmosphere was adorable and our wait staff couldn't be beat!! That's our Conner!! She was delightful!! The charcuterie appetizer was so-so but I am very critical when it comes to charcuterie boards. The pork tenderloin was by far the best of all the meals!! And that okra OH MY WORD!!! So good!! The ribeye was good. Could have had a little less red wine sauce but was still great. Definitely a delicious meal and good experience if you are in the area!!

Great little place with great food. We all loved our meals and desserts. The wait staff could have been slightly friendlier but otherwise no issues! If you do sit outside, you may experience some noises including fire trucks. They get loud due to the alleyway affect. Finally the honeyjars on the table are bit dirty, and due to their sticky nature, attract hairs, and other other fibers on the rims. The appetizers especially with the trout were a tiny bit on the small side. Otherwise a good experience.
