I work on the railroad and recently took a mobile position in North Dakota that has me passing through many small towns. My coworker told me that I have to try the homemade breakfast sandwiches at Anamoose Cafe. He wasn’t lying. Connie is a sweet lady who makes you feel like you just came home and mom/grandma is making supper. She’s always busy making homemade soups, sandwiches, pasties and more. You can’t beat her fresh baked breads and sweets, and her prices are almost too low. Make sure to bring enough cash to place your order and leave her a well deserved tip.

These are the nicest people you will ever meet. I was stationed there in the military and we would just do for each other.

Stopped in just before lunch and was surprised by the delicious aroma when we walked in! There was a nice buffet with ham, meatballs in gravy, bbqued ribs, scalloped potatoes, mashed potatoes, creamed peas, rice and chicken w/veggies. All homemade food and everything was delicious! The locals were very friendly and learned a little of the area's history from them. Kudo's to the cook! We will definitely stop again when we go through that way.

Let me tell you this place is a gem. We were out in the middle of nowhere. We put in a search for restaurant in Anamoose (population 230). We were traveling from Kentucky out west and we were on the way to Teddy Roosevelt National Park and just traveling through. We googled for something near me and The Anamoose Bakery and Cafe came up. It is a little hole in the wall place, (my favorite kind). We walked in and it smelled like your grandma’s house during a family reunion. The food was insanely good. All home made. Pork Chops and gravy, Broccoli casserole, Meatballs and gravy, creamed peas, mashed potato’s and gravy, toast points, a cheese sauce over them. Fried Chicken, Ribs, Rolls, Ice Cream for desert. It was a help yourself buffet set up, all you care for. I went back (which I rarely do these days) but it was too good to pass up. The proprietor asked if I wanted a sundae for desert and I declined and told her I had another meatball and some more broccoli casserole instead. I gave her 25 dollars for two of us and she said that is WAY too much! I made her keep it and it was worth every penny. It’s now 9:00 P.M. and I am still not hungry….

Definitely a wonderful experience...each and every time. I have never had anything to eat that wasn't the best ever; and, the desserts are to die for. Many wonderful bakery products to take home. And, without question, every item is healthy made with local berries and products. You won't be disappointed. Hrs are Tuesday - Friday noon to 6pm.

We’ve been there numerous times for lunch and we’ve never had a bad meal or experience. It’s a good thing we only get there when we’re working in the area or else I’d weigh 400 lbs ha ha. Great food, great service and a down home attitude that you can’t beat.

Like the photo says, not to be confused with the Farmtastic located right next door. Anamoose Cafe is also NOT your typical restaurant. Down home service and pay at the counter. NO CREDIT CARDS so make sure you bring cash. An ATM can be found at the bar on the next block down. Food portions are larger than expected. Get your own coffee and make sure to give them a hand and bus your own table when done. The wife and I love coming here. Missed breakfast the last time so had lunch. Buffet style. Cabbage rolls were exceptionally good. The wife is now going to make some for me. Definitely a locals hangout. I LOVE IT!!! UPDATE: No changes. Still great food. Don't be shy. If there is not an open table, which can happen during lunch hours, just ask if you can sit with someone else and share their table if there's room.

Amazing food! The proprietors are friendly, knowlegable, and hospitable. Not only is the food fresh and delicious, but the selection of homemade lotions, salves, and lip balms as well as baked goods for sale make this place extra special. Please try this place out! You will not be sorry.

This cafe changed names in March 2018 to Farmtastic Heritage Foods. The food is excellent, in both presentation and taste, and the owners are lovely people. Farm to fork, organic approach. Best small-town cafe experience ever!!

(Review left for next door)Edit: thanks for correcting this, one of these days I'll get to Anamoose early and try your great-sounding fare!Google Maps is to blame for any reviews that aren't yours. The addresses are so close together that one or the other of you don't show up. It would be wonderful if there were a solution that highlights both great businesses!
