Five Star has done two projects for me. First was a demolition of a porch/Storage room off the back of my house. The did excellent work on not only taking the area down, did it without damaging the original house structure. Cleaned up the area to the point it was hard to tell that they hade done any work there.Second project was to repair an outside entrance to the basement where the walls were starting to collapse and put in a 10 X 20 concrete patio. They did awesome work on tearing out the old walls to the basement entrance, built the new walls and concrete floor, replaced the entry door with a new steel door. For the patio, the area was cleared, they ran into there being an old cistern that that backfilled, poured a beautiful patio, and again cleaned up the area leaving it look perfect. Past summer have enjoyed several cook outs on the new patio.Any future projects on this house, they will be the first ones I go to for getting the work done, properly and at a reasonable price.

I had Five Star Maintenance & Construction install new gutters on my house along with a couple of other items and they did a fantastic job. They were there when they said they would be and were very courteous through the whole process from beginning to end. Everything was cleaned up outside and you would have never have known they were even there. Five star maintenance did my counter tops and flooring in our new kitchen a couple months ago. All I can say is WOW. They did a fantastic job! They were clean, fast, and everything you could ask for. I'll be looking for a new roof soon and I know who I'll be calling. Not sure what that lady is talking about with the bad review? I first hired Five Star Maintenance to paint the exterior of my house. It’s been neglected for 10+ years and I knew there was some damage to some old wood along the porch roof. Charlie and his team got to work on schedule, pro-actively dealt with the difficulties of accessing the top of three stories and creatively resolved the woodwork problems. They had to hire equipment for this job, cut back some overgrown shrubs and balance the workload around unpredictable weather. The house looks spectacular, I get regular compliments on the historic preservation and it was all done on time and within budget.As a result of the fantastic exterior painting work that Five Star Maintenance completed, I hired them again for major interior renovation and painting. What impressed me the most was Charlie’s professionalism, accuracy and deep understanding of what to expect renovating an historic house. This property is over 120 years old. Charlie walked through the entire house making notes rather quickly and was able to fully assess the wide range of tasks – fixing holes, replacing drywall, repairing ceiling damage and woodwork damage, renovating a bathroom, replacing carpeting and tiles, overcoming some electrical problems, refinishing wood floors and then painting the entire place. It was a huge job and his team came through with excellence, on time and within budget.

For the past few years, I called many local companies, trying to have some small jobs done at my 120+ year old home. I would never hear back from them.Then a friend recommended Five Star, so I contacted them about installing new columns on my front porch, which I had previously purchased for another contractor who had to cancel out. Within a week, they had installed the columns, although it was late fall, and too cold to paint them. Once spring came, a call to them resulted in painted columns, and new handrails on my back porch steps, which far exceeded my expectations.From now on, they will be my first call for help. They were very professional, reasonably priced, and did quality work.

5-Star Maintenance did an outstanding job of clearing out a relative's home. It was a big clean-up job but everything went so smoothly with Charlie and his crew in place. His workers are very respectful, take direction well, and show up when scheduled. A big shout-out to 5-Star employee, Andrew, whom was awesome thru out the entire cleaning process. Will not call me back to schedule the work for simple door installations (4), even after they came to provide an estimate.Even called the office left a voicemail for Charlie and another folow call days later with the office secretary.Didn't even send out their other partner to conduct the other estimate for the siding project.Must be nice to be able to cherry pick your work!

I have a modest home in downtown Tiffin, older, with updates. The back has a bump-out/addition as many homes in town do. There's a crawl space, plumbing, wiring, insulation, roofing, windows and ventilation: the addition is up to code and functional. It currently has a sink and toilet, and I requested bids for installing a shower pan, shower doors, plumbing, all standard stock.Unfortunately there's a saying with construction teams: If they don't want the job they'll high-ball you and if you accept it, then they'll do it. That's what happened: Charlie and a guy came and measured, discussed it with me, and told a story about having to extend the roof line, walls, foundation. A 3k-job would be 20k. That's one way to tell someone that you don't really want to take on their little project, but it's a *bad* way to tell them.The construction team I hired was able to (miraculously!) fit a standard shower pan and doors in with room to spare. There's now a completed, full size, 60" shower that is perfectly fine for the space, with no need to (lol) extend the roofline. This was one year ago now, no problems whatsoever.I don't feel great about leaving this review seeing how many compliments 5-Star gets. Maybe, if you have a bigger job (residential kitchen, entire master bathroom) you'll get quality work for a much higher than competitive price, and maybe that's perfectly fine with you. Just be aware of the price gauging strategy of this company, maybe because Tiffin is a small town and there's not enough choices. Just be prepared.
