We chose Build with MD to replace our deck and I cannot speak more highly of them!After getting estimates from other vendors, their pricing was on par the other estimates we received. We chose them based on: responsive and high quality communication, solid reputation with good reviews, and a highly knowledgeable crew.We love hiring businesses where we can directly with the business owners -- and in this case Shannon and Nelson did not disappoint!For the initial meeting and estimate, Shannon assessed our existing deck and spoke for us about what options we had for replacing the existing footprint. We discussed pricing and various material options. As a pro Trex installer he shared the magnitude of color options we had for the deck and railing, bringing by the sample materials for us to view in our home. Having young kids, we wanted to make sure the area was safe for them by adding a gate -- they found the closest match and ensured it secured the area.When it came to the build, they handled our deck permit with the borough and ensured all was set before getting started. Nelson and the crew promptly arrived early every day and if there were any changes we were informed ahead of time. The crew was super helpful in providing us with daily updates and communicated with us every step of the way -- which is not the case with all contractors! The team worked hard to wrap the posts and take the deck itself to the next level (instead of leaving the posts as treated wood). Steps can be tricky, but the crew built our new steps. Not only are they safe, but they are comfortably set so that anyone in my family from kids to older folks have no issues going up and down.We love our new deck and I hope you trust Build with MD for your next deck replacement! I hired Build With MD to build a Timbertech composite deck and teardown our previous deck. Shannon, who is one of the partners, was very responsive and communicative through the entire process. He was in contact with me daily, and even more frequent during the build process. Definitely the most communicative contractor I've ever hired.From the time of the initial estimate, to picking materials, and to building the deck took only a few weeks. The initial design went through a few revisions and material changes. Shannon was very helpful throughout this process and promptly provided revised quotes.Once the build started, Shannon and his partner Nelson were on-site every day directing and working alongside of their team. They answered all of my questions and addressed any concerns I had throughout the process. The actual build was completed in only four days. I’m very pleased with the finished product and would recommend Build with MD.

Shannon Dugan was recommended to us from a friend. After contacting him initially he promptly came out to look at the job site and go over what we wanted to have done. He then worked up a quote in with all materials and emailed us the scope of the work along with the price within a few days. We changed/added a few things as we went, all of which was well received and done on the job. We were set to break ground in the next week and then got 10+ inches of snow, followed by weeks of ice, and more snow. As soon as the weather broke in February, MD was out on the job working the first day in sunny, but cold and windy day. They worked a total of 5 days outside in the wind and cold temps averaging just above freezing and finished the job. Hands down, the best contractor that we have ever had any experience whether they were on the job or just coming out and following through with giving us a quote. He COMMUNICATED with us weekly about the weather and then daily once the job started letting us know when he would not be there (1 day because it poured all day, 2 days because they came to work, but there was too much ice on everything). The job site was kept nice and tidy with no trash on the ground. We love our new front porch that has a high gable that matches our dormers; the picture does not do it justice!Service: Roof installation

Co-owners Shannon and Nelson, along with a six-man crew, built a new 300 sf deck of Trex (long-lasting composite floor boards). From submitting a bid, to delivery of materials, to completion of the job took three weeks in mid-June 2023. We are very happy with the finished deck, built to last many decades with pressure-treated 2x6 and 6x6 inch lumber understructure. Nelson and his crew made it look easy, each member of the crew working with expertise and no wasted motions. This was their 17th deck of the summer, so far, and they are on track to beat last summer's record of 37 decks. Theirs was not the lowest bid, but the combination of stellar reviews and their clear competence sold us on the company. Finally, Nelson, something of a perfectionist, added extra 6x6 posts to ensure a rock-solid feel to the deck and stairs. A fine, fine job by men who know what they are doing. Description of Work:Removed four masonry chimneys, removed old shingles, installed underlayment on roof, installed metal roof, installed metal on five dormer sizes, installed rubber roof with vents on top.This big project on a high steep roof was finished in five days, with no cost increases, and we are thrilled with our new metal roof. We look forward to hiring Shannon and his team again soon. Shannon addressed all our concerns before beginning the project: he got us detailed information on the fasteners that would be used and their 50-year warranty, he discussed the ventilation options that made sense for our building, and he agreed to remove the existing old shingles to inspect the underlayment before adding the furring strips. During the work, Shannon checked in with us daily, giving us updates and sharing new information. For example, Shannon learned that the interior beneath the flat part of the roof was separate from the rest of the attic space, and he wanted us to know this as soon as he learned it. Shannon cares about the details. He installed commercial grade hip and ridge covers, and he was able to perfectly align the dormer sides with the original carpentry on the front of each dormer. We highly recommend MD Construction and will hire Shannon and his team again.Service: Roof installation

I urgently needed my awning removed after it was damaged by wind, I contacted Build with MD on a Sunday and someone came out within a few hours to remove it, however, they did not come with a ladder or necessary tools. I was concerned when they wouldn't give me a cost to remove the awning but I was in a desperate situation. I told them I would need my deck repaired and a new awning and they said that they could do that but when they came to give me a quote I was told they only do roofs, not awnings. A roof is not appropriate for one part of the house. They ended up charging me a staggering $1,268 to remove the awning. It took someone 2 more trips to fully remove the awning because once again they did not have the proper tools and there is still a small piece of the original railing attached the house. I cannot comment of the quality of their repair work but they were deceitful by omitting that they do not do awning work at the first conversation. Had I known that I may have used them to remove the awning and redo the porch and sought an awning company to replace the awning. I also felt that they were pushy, contacting multiple times from early morning to evening and then acted defensively when I mentioned I was waiting for another quote.

Shannon was recommended through a friend. I was very impressed with his honesty and no bull. He was straight with me and told me what needed done without pressuring me or trying to upsale me like other roofers had seeing a single woman. He explained everything to me several times when I didn't understand and was prompt getting back to me with questions. The crew got everything done in one day and Shannon gave me updates throughout the day with pics when it was done. This was my first major repair on my home and I was.very anxious. The evening I reached out to "Build with MD" I was dealing with leaking roof and alot of water in my house. They showed up the next day to get a plan in place. Even though we were dealing with the snow/ice storm at the time. They had a really short window before the rain came. But they did it! They replaced roof and fixed few other things in 2 days. They genuinely cared about my wellbeing in my situation, they worked hard, was dedicated to get my problem fixed. Also my yard was left clean.Though it was fast. The quality is definitely there. M&D is top notch…. They came out for the initial estimate, and got back to me with a final number a few hours later.They came back when they said they would, knocked out the whole project in 3 working days, did a thorough clean up, and stayed in contact the whole time.
