Paul at Anvil is direct, honest, and communicative. His employees and subcontractors are professional and friendly, and speak highly of him as a person. Our house was repaired in a timely fashion and done really well. There were a few small issues during the process, but that’s expected in large projects. Anytime I brought something to Paul‘s attention he addressed it immediately. I’ve worked with a lot of contractors and there is nothing more frustrating than feeling like you’re in the dark. That never happened with Paul and Anvil, we always knew where we stood.

Five stars for being a honest business owner. I briefly spoke with Paul about mold remediation for my house. A lot of other contractors would have been happy to take my money and sell me on additional services that I didn’t need, but Paul told me that I did *not* need his services for my basement situation. Instead, he suggested an easy DIY solution and even recommended another company that could explore another option with me. While I did not need Anvil this time, I will definitely call Paul in the future when I do eventually run into other problems with my old house.

Paul and his crew did an excellent job helping us with stucco and termite remediation in June of 2019.We were in a pinch due to improper stucco installation that created major water issues on our home and ultimately lead to termites. Paul and his crew were able to get onsite before any other contractors I contacted. They had the right equipment and people for the job. They completely stripped the house of the failing stucco, removed all trash, replaced all the sheathing and performed reframing where needed to sure up the exterior integrity. They then put up a layer of blue skin and some very nice water tight modern vinyl. They got all this done in under two weeks!Paul’s communication was frequent and excellent. He worked with me at every point and was very transparent on his pricing for both fixed and variable costs so that I could plan ahead for my finances and expectations of the job. His lead guy Victor did a great job addressing all my concerns while on the job site.Overall Paul and his crew turned what would be a devastating experience for any home owner into a quick resolution. Very satisfied customer.

He literally was the first and last call. While admittedly things went wrong, as can happen on a huge job, Paul was always there to make it right. We recently worked with Paul and his team at Anvil on a large project on the back of our house. They installed 2 new windows and 2 new sliding doors. They then rebuilt the soffit, and finally covered the entire wall in Dryvit. The team the Paul worked with were professional and very skilled. Everyday they made sure to clean up everything as they were coming through the house all day long with materials. Ultimately, the job was completed on time and was very high quality work. Along the way, they found some additional things that needed to be addressed such as some rotting frames, and Paul walked us through the need to replace them to do the job right.As part of this process, the window manufacturer made a substantial error, manufacturing one of the windows incorrectly. Paul and his team are working with us and the window manufacturer to get the replacement window installed. We very much appreciate working with someone like Paul that doesn't just leave you when the job is done, but is working with us to make right the issue that was caused by the window manufacturer.So - we would highly recommend working with Anvil Stucco. They are the best, and we are very happy with the work they have done and continue to do for us!

I wish I had called Paul years ago. I had seen leaks around the windows for years, which compounded the problem of decaying sheathing and gave me a lot of heartache in the back of my mind. I'm normally a DIY guy, but this is a lot of work and it is elevated. I saw Paul's work on a neighbors house and I was impressed by their speed and quality. So, I reached out to Paul for a quote.Paul was very responsive during the entire process. He showed up on time and gave me a quote on the spot after taking measurements. A few weeks later I finally pulled the trigger. His crew started 2 days later and was completely done in 4 days total. His guys are so fast you need to be ready to make quick decisions (i.e. what areas to do, what color/type siding, any need for a new window, door or storm door, etc.).The quote covered all the stucco demo and new siding, but the sheathing and framing condition was an unknown (i.e. adder). Also, he used a third party trash clean up crew that was billed at his cost. He gave me a rough idea of what that cost would be. He explained all these costs clearly. I had concerns about the cost creeping way over the quote, but we talked about likely outcomes and the worst case scenario. In the end, I was fortunate to not have framing issues, but the sheathing required some replacement. Those additional costs were about 10% over the original quote.If you have stucco and see water in your house, then call him today. We saw minimal moisture and the rotting sheathing in the pictures is prolific. He will respond quickly and you can get this issue resolved in a very timely fashion. Also, I live in South Philly and I think he does most of his work in that area. So, don't be confused by the Willow Grove address.Good luck AND CALL PAUL!

From start to finish, Paul and his team were extremely communicative, efficient, and guided us through a very difficult & stressful situation. When different challenges arose during construction, Paul was ready with a game plan to explain the process & various options on the table to choose from. He explained the pros and cons to each along with a professional recommendation.His team completely redid the 4-sides of the exterior of our 3-story townhome to repair water damage externally and internally, and to ensure the property was properly sealed from future water damage. Paul coordinated the appropriate personnel to make sure the specialists were on-site in a timely manner. When they weren’t, he made sure to communicate with them directly and resolve. His team was extremely mindful of the 4 tenants living in the home to ensure they had minimal disturbance during construction and also work around their schedules. Paul communicated with the neighbors to ensure they were aware and felt comfortable with the renovations and timeframe to completion. He even did the neighbor a favor and removed some of the trash from their backyard as a courtesy for the noise disturbance. 5 stars isn't enough to give Paul and his guys the review they deserve. I was initially planning for just replacing my stucco with siding, but it turned into a beast of a job with serious remediation extending all the way to my interior. The crew got to work just a couple days after I contacted Paul, and the entire job was completed in days (well ahead of schedule). The results look incredible, and the workers were clean and courteous all throughout. Paul is the MVP though - he was responsive, flexible, friendly, and honestly a pleasure to work with. If you're thinking of getting your stucco looked at/replaced, do it NOW, and Anvil is the only team you should be going with. I can't say enough about how Paul Friedman has come into mine and my family's life and saved us from a situation which has been a nightmare.I am an Army veteran and about a decade ago, I was victimized (while deployed) by the unlikeliest of people. This put me in a compromising position financially. Since then, after a series of bad circumstances, I found myself in trouble with money and with my home in Philadelphia. The whole story is farfetched, and I never could have imagined it.In the last year and a half, we became victims of consumer fraud and deceptive business' practices by a contractor who we paid to make repairs on our home. I highly recommend Anvil and Paul Friedman's team for stucco remediation. His crew is on time, professional, knowledgeable, and most importantly does precision work.If you're on the fence about who to choose for your stucco remediation, skip the estimate process and just pick Anvil. Estimates on this sort of work are almost completely useless because it's impossible to tell whether or not there will be structural damage (and associated reframing costs) until the stucco is off the house. What's more important than a low estimate is a team that completes the job right and with a continuous construction timeline. Many other companies will leave jobs "open" for weeks. This means your stucco will be off, but you won't have new cladding on the exterior of your home until they come back to your job. Aside from the eyesore, this is not ideal for your underlying sheathing (sheathing weakens every time it absorbs water and then dries when it is left out without cladding over it) or heating/cooling bill.Anyone in the grad hospital area is welcome to stop by to look at Anvil's handiwork at the corner of 24th and Madison Square. If I'm around I'm more than happy to talk you through the process and the ins and outs of stucco remediation. My personal recommendations are to ask for a rainscreen on the installation of any new cladding material after your stucco is removed and (of course) tell them that Andrew sent you!

I used Anvil (Paul) after we realized we had water behind the stucco on the back of our house. I called a bunch of siding / exterior wall "experts" which resulted in patched stucco "cracks" and continuous pointing at windows as potential moisture / water penetration sites.After wasting money on a couple of those people, I turned to Google to find a "Stucco Expert" and landed on Anvil.I called immediately and Paul answered. I explained to him the above to which he replied "this is how all of these conversations usually start." From the start, I realized I was talking to the right person.I got Paul to come out (almost immediately), consult and quote us on next steps. Watching Paul quickly diagnose the issue as he walked along all exterior walls was impressive. He suggested replacing our wall with vinyl siding.Ensue nightmare. We ultimately realized the exterior wall was not structurally sound and was previously completed in a "hodge podge" manner. The wall was very very bad, which is my self diagnosis) and Paul immediately suggested we get someone in (under his watch) to rebuild the external, structural wall, wrap it and get vinyl installed immediately. Paul, at this point, was also able to easily identify the source of the water penetration which was a corner of our roof (where it met our neighbor's).Paul started all of the work almost immediately and completed the entire project in less than a week! The job was done quickly to limit further damage to the interior of our house and done at an extremely high quality.Paul was incredibly responsive and was not finished communicating until the job was done 100% to my, and his, satisfaction. I cannot even count the amount of times Paul and I spoke on the phone, texted, communicated throughout about any concerns, questions, work, schedule, etc.I decided to use Paul and his team for the exterior work AND interior work because of his responsiveness and high expectation of quality work and finishes.Paul is the best GC I have worked with to date, hands down. He was quick to respond, attentive, always in high spirits, friendly and helped make payments creative as this was no small job/bill.I would highly, highly recommend Paul and his team at Anvil for all things stucco, siding, exterior wall, interior repairs (ask Paul for Kenny!). If you're reading this, I'm sorry. It means that your home probably has an issue with stucco and siding and caulking the windows is no longer cutting it, lol.I met with Paul during (what I am calling): The Great Siding Crisis of 2021.From the moment we elbow bumped, he was professional, kind and courteous. He essentially held my hand the entire process and was more than available for me when I had a silly question or concern. He was honestly so available that I'm not sure how he stays married, my partner yells at me if I'm on the phone with my mom too long.I did my due diligence looking into various siding companies and while Anvil may be a bit more than their competitors but I'm a firm believer in the old adage: you get what you pay for. Know that with Anvil, you are getting your moneys worth. Paul gave us realistic timelines and even finished sooner than expected which never happens! He even spoke to my neighbors to give them a heads up about the upcoming construction and to expect some noise for a few days.It's a relief knowing I am just working with just Anvil and no one else; I've had contractors flat out tell me that they don't do X Y or Z and leave it up to me to find someone that will. None of that with Anvil, Paul was communicative and transparent throughout this project and would cut costs where he could and would explain to me why certain things had to be done in order to maintain the integrity of the work he and his crew were doing. it's a huge relief knowing that their work comes with a 5 years warranty so it is in their best interest to ensure that the work is done properly.It's not easy working from home and having a crew of contractors in your home (I have a dog and a cat) but his crew were always mindful of my pets and my home. They left the house better than they found it and that speaks volumes.TL;DR: caulking windows isn't cutting it. go with anvil. cost may be a bit higher but worth every penny.ps: i can't wait for the next big rain storm! I will be siting on the window ledge watching the rain NOT seep into my house, lol.
