These guys are awesome! I had an ongoing leak on my patio for several months. Other contractors failed to properly diagnose and repair the leak. Some recommended I replace the entire roof. Dr. Leaks were able to properly diagnose and repair the damage. They were very professional and informative. Do not waste your time and money with other contractors. If you want peace of mind and the job done right, these guys are the real deal.

My wife and I had a rear entry door installed on 5/25 by Detect & Repair Leak Services and there are several concerns we noticed with the job. The job is so unprofessionally done we are having other companies give us estimates to fix what was done incorrectly.1. Door threshold is now 4” high when it was originally at 2”. It’s a trip hazard. This rise in height was not discussed with us in the scope of work.2. We had a 80” door and the door replacement bought was a 78” door. Not the same height as the original door.3. The aluminum flashing, finish work and caulking surrounding the door is below subpar. Gobs of clear silicone used to finish 1”+ gaps.4. Aluminum cuts were all made uneven.5. Visible light coming in from gaps at the doors seal. We now have water intrusion at the doors sill after the each rain storm.6. Strike plates were installed so tight that the wood frame on the brand new door was cracked from over tightening the screws.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS, THIS IS A SCAM COMPANY. This is one of the most egregious services I've received. I called them telling them I had a leak, and sent them pictures and full details about the leak. They came out after a delay and said "yes, you have a leak" and gave me more pictures. Then they charged me $1,000.... to tell me I have a leak after I called them because I had a leak. I called and left a voicemail that I was not going to pay that, it was a ridiculous charge for giving me no value whatsoever and providing a bad service to me. They then sent it to collections and dinged my otherwise perfect credit for it. I'm furious. AVOID AT ALL COSTS, THIS IS A SCAM COMPANY.I have a full email thread saved in my history of my communications with them where I asked for service, explained I had a leak, included pictures and details of the leak. They then charged me $1,000 after coming by the house and then letting me know "yes you have a leak". Zero fixes or repair service of any kind was done. The $1,000 was just to say "yes you have a leak" (when water was already clearly coming in and I knew extremely clearly I had one, that's why I contacted them for help/service).The house in question was a 2-story south philadelphia typical row home with a flat roof, very quick and easy for roofers to get to and work on. This is the most preposterous charge and bad service I've ever had.In scanning these reviews I can see I'm not alone, there are at least 8 other such 1-star reviews alerting to this being a scam company. Run away from them as fast as possible. I'm as unhappy with the post-service resolution and credit dispute as the service itself, both telltale signs of poorly managed company with bad ethics.

Avoid at all costs.Charge by the hour and could do the job in half the time. They spent some time trying to pet the cat, and then open up a grate outside my house that had nothing to do with my leaks.Let a hole in my ceiling that is now leaking into a plastic cover they taped over.Walked through the house with salty/muddy shoes and left the floors a mess.Still have not received a leak report after two weeks of their service and have not received a call back after several attempts and emails.

Awful experience. They weren't able to find the source of all my leaks. The leak they did find they did subpar work on and charged exorbitant prices as if it were some specialty work which it wasn't. I ended up having to get the work redone by someone else because I no longer trusted this company to do the work. They did a bunch of work and charged a lot for the other leaks but no success. Regret my decision to hire them.

“Dr Leak” is top notch — responsive, effective process, careful, thoughtful and they were successful with a very tricky complicated leak situation. They diagnosed and fixed. One of the best home repair experiences I have had. I just called them for another one, unfortunately !

If you’re looking for a timely and affordable repair to your roof or leak, run fast and far away from this company. They charge by the hour ($185/hr) and provide vague and ambiguous estimates for the amount of time required for the job. For example, they originally estimated that our leak repair would require 16-24 hours ($3,000 - $4500) to merely seal an inactive chimney and faulty skylight. They also require a “leak detection” service at the $185/hr. rate before the repairs even begin. They cut two squares out of my dry-wall ceiling and used my garden hose to spray water on my roof to determine the problem areas (this was a 4-hour/$800 charge). They offered to repair my dry-wall at the $185/hr. rate for another 4 hours (would be another $800).In short, to address the leaks coming from the chimney and skylight, they wrapped the entire chimney in a black membrane substance and used the same black membrane substance to reinforce the border of the skylight. They also decided to apply this black membrane, without our consent, on visible areas at the back of the house. Attached are pictures of their work.Best of all, the repairs didn’t work. We were getting water only a couple of weeks later. We emailed them pictures of the water accumulating in the same areas. They replied that the company could come out for a complimentary “leak detection” service but that any more repairs would be at cost to us. So, they would spray water on our roof again for free but any more needed repairs would be at another $185/hr. charge. We hired another roofer who came out, immediately identified the core issue with the skylight, and built a sophisticated, professional-looking apparatus for a fraction of the cost and time that has thus far kept the water out. The owner of the company, aka “Dr. Leaks” has never stepped foot on our property or talked to us directly throughout our entire experience with them (i.e., since October 2020). We learned the hard way that not all roofing/leak companies are the same. Find a local roofer where you can talk directly to the owner and invest back into your community. Don’t be fooled by their tasteful website and professional marketing like we were, this company will let you downServices: Skylight repair, Roof inspection, Roof repair

We used this company to try to detect a persistent leak into our basement storage area. After spending 8+ hours at our home (they charge hourly for this service) they sent us a confusing and unclear document detailing our “leak.” Basically…they also had no idea where the leak was coming from. Instead of offering us a refund or even discount since they weren’t able to figure out where the water was getting into our home, they wanted to “continue” testing. My husband and I said absolutely not, since we were already out $1000 with no clear answers. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. We had an absolutely awful experience.

It took about 2 weeks to get someone just to do the testing and then another 4 weeks to get the report with estimates. They tell you that they have a 15 business day window, which equates to 4 calendar weeks -- a long time to wait if you have an active leak. By the time I got the estimate, I already had a general contractor with 40 years experience come out and give me a diagnosis and quote -- which was far different than what their report suggested I do.The report was difficult to follow and the quote reflected a very high hourly rate ($240/hr). They offer to walk you through the details, but I don’t think a report should be that hard to read. Especially because during the sales process they pitch you on being able to “shop the report around” if you don’t want to use their contractor services. The staff were all very friendly and professional, but by the end I felt like I wasted $1200 for some pictures.Find a local contractor who knows your area and the specific issues that come up, and you’ll likely get a more timely, more accurate quote that will have your problem fixed the first time.If you’re in the Fishtown/Kensington area, I recommend Mr. Contractor.

We were plagued with leaks in a roof deck area for years. We tried roofers, masons, and contractors without success. Alex and the Dr Leaks team were able to approach the problem holistically and completely solved the problem. I’ve recommended them to others and would 100% call them again.

My husband I reached out to Dr. Leaks to try to fix a leaky window in our second story living room. The initial crew that came out to do their diagnostic testing sprayed water with a hose from the most obscure places when the source of the leak was fairly obvious (likely flashing issue where the window meets the siding with no obvious plumbing overhead). They racked up thousands of dollars only to be unable to simulate the leak and come up with “inconclusive” results. Alex, the owner who we insisted on talking to several times, promised he’d be on-site at the next scheduled appointment and ultimately never showed. Upon finally getting them back out for scheduled repairs, they screwed up scheduling a potentially unnecessary lift to complete the job therefore we had to take an unnecessary day off of work. Furthermore, when they ultimately showed up the day of the fix date (after insisting upon more hours of “diagnostics”), they “forgot” the safety harnesses needed to operate said lift all while charging their hourly rate to go get everything they needed. They will also charge for a very costly lunch break. Be warned! They played around with the flashing under our siding panels, all while damaging the siding in the process. That day, they swore up and down the problem was fixed and they’d pay for the damaged siding in the process. A few days later we receive another massive bill for thousands and refusal to pay for our damaged siding. Now we are stuck with a leak that is MUCH worse from all their hole poking from the inside and outside. We’re in the process of working with an actual window and siding contractor that has been much more knowledgeable and responsive. Run fast from this company- they talk a big game but are not actually equipped to make necessary repairs and their business model is not ethical.

Easily 5 stars. Rob, Steve, Luis, and Hanlon are all excellent.I was worried about the company's hourly rate until I realized that it includes 3-4 people working at the same time on the problem, testing and measuring every possible source of your leak. The amount of workers more than justifies the rate. In fact, it saves money in the end. They even did a free consultation. When my leak came back with a vengeance, the team returned to make tweaks and adjustments to their previous repairs. They did this at no charge. They explain what's going on, show you what they're doing, and treat you warmly. That goes a long way.

I have used Dr. Leaks for several years for a persistent leak that could not be fixed by multiple other services. The test, repair and confirm strategy worked wonderfully to confirm that a leak had been fixed. They even found another leak point that would have been a problem in the next few years with their leak test. The whole team especially Alex and Pablo was very professional and explained/answered all the questions I had. Highly recommend (as I've done for neighbors already) their services.Services: Roof repair, Roof damage repair

Our row home has been having leaks for a couple of years, largely due to faulty work by the original builder. Alex and his team are responsive, punctual, communicative, and responsible for their work. They charge by the hour, can be on the pricey end depending on the type of job but they itemize cost, return calls, and when lingering issues arise, they come back and address them. We've dealt with contractors who never returned calls, who gave a quote but refused to work us thru what the repair entails, and the ones whose repair failed but refused to come back and address. It's been a great experience working with Alex and his team to make sure our leak problem can be finally addressed, and we are now aware of where the vulnerable parts are so we can get the needed maintenance.Service: Roof repair

We had a mysterious leak, under a 2nd floor deck into a corner of the kitchen, that has been unsolved for years, even with several attempts by others to repair it. We reached out to the Leak Doctors, and although initially it seemed to be solved, the leak continued, even as a small drip, but the team never gave up and in fact came to our house several times, a couple of times complementary, until it was resolved. Everyone we worked with (Hanlon, Steve, Luis, Robert, Rob, John, Israel) was very professional and great to work with.Service: Roof repair

Dr. Leaks is a lifesaver. We had been dealing with several water-related issues for years and had spent thousands of dollars with multiple contractors trying to figure out and fix the problem, all to no avail. Along came Dr. Leaks, which figured it out and implemented a effective and durable solution - and no water intrusion since! They are professional, responsive, and most importantly, good. I can't recommend them highly enough.Service: Roof damage repair

Alex and his team were extremely diligent from start to finish in fixing a leak from my roof deck going into my third floor bathroom. To begin, he was very clear on how his team will conduct their process, laying out the exact steps they will take to remedy the leak. Once it was time to do the actual work, his team worked efficiently to fix my leak. Afterwards, when they were sure the leak was fixed, the team came in and made the bathroom look like new. Through multiple phone calls, in person meetings, and texts Alex was always clear about what task the team was performing, which was very helpful. Would highly recommend!Service: Roof repair

We purchased a completely renovated house in 2018, and within a few months we had a terrible leak causing extensive damage, kitchen ceiling falling down because it was rotting. We had contractors trying to fix it for over a year causing the worst stress on us as a family. We researched and put out a call out on Nextdoor app for a specialist and Alex’s name kept coming up. Alex was able to systematically find where the leaks were coming from through diligent investigations and test, after doing repairs he would check in when we had bad rain to make sure it was fixed. We are still leak free to date and really appreciate how transparent Alex was thought the entire process

Alex and his team were one of the more professional teams of contractors I've had the pleasure of working with. I've had 2 other contractors in to assess a leak in my house and wasted thousands of dollars. The most impressive thing about Dr. Leaks is the thorough process they use to identify/test the leak before just slapping up new drywall. I would highly recommend using Dr. Leaks for any leak issues.Services: Gutter repairs, Skylight repair, Roof inspection, Roof repair

We had a mystery leak in the corner of our front bedroom, near our chimney. We had four or five contractors look at it, but no one seemed to know the source. We ended up replacing our chimney liner for our furnace and repairing the water-damaged wall, but then more water damage appeared. I finally called Dr. Leaks. Alex did a very thorough investigation, including opening up the wall and the ceiling, and advised me that we had likely repaired the wall before it was fully dried out. He advised a wait and see approach. Alex was very responsive as I sent him pictures of the area, and he came out several times to check on the drying process. When he was confident the wall was sufficiently dried out and no leaks were coming from the ceiling, his team closed it up. It looks like the leak never happened! His team also did some roof and chimney maintenance to ensure that no water came in that way. Alex is very good at explaining the investigation. I have a lot of peace of mind knowing that his investigation was so thorough.

Dr. Leaks is a top notch business. They described the entire process before beginning work and everything went as planned. We had a vent stack replaced, which went from the basement to the roof. Dr. Leaks did the repairs with minimal damage to repair in the end, which the business also completed. I would highly recommend them!

Professional and honest. They helped diagnose a slow leak scenario where it was completely unclear if the issue was with the roof, or with some plumbing (it was the plumbing). Their business model of working backwards from the leak works really well for this type of problem, as if we had simply hired a roofer it wouldn't have fixed what was the actual cause of the problem, and if we had just hired a plumber they may have missed other issues, and the fix for the plumbing issue falls more under carpentry than plumbing overall. The team diagnosed and repaired the issue promptly and restored the area of the ceiling that had to be disturbed in order to fix the leak, all in a single day. Would use again, would recommend.

Alex and his team are great! First, the come inspect the situation, take pictures of damage and then provide estimate. They also let you know their schedules up front and try their best to work around your schedule. The whole is professional and respectful of your property. They cleaned up after every visit. We used Dr. Leaks after a good friend of ours used Alex's team for an emergency. It was actually we called Alex as well. He was at our house within a day and within a couple days had everything fixed. Most importantly they took before and after pictures. They took our siding off and took pictures to show us exactly where the leak was coming from. Turns out the builders of our house did a bad job. The team repaired everything and took pictures at each step. I thought this was the best part since as Alex was explaining everything he had it all in picture. He wanted to prove to me how he fixed the leak and what he did to make sure we were happy with everything. Only after all of this did we receive the bill. I gladly paid. We will be using the team again in a few months to reseal our roof.Thank you guys for helping so quickly!!

In fall 2018, we woke up to a leak in our kitchen. We had just purchased the house, and knew the likely cause was the roof, so we called the roofers. After many attempts to patch various areas of the roof, they were unsuccessful and out of ideas. All the while, the leak was getting larger and more destructive with each rainstorm. It got to a point where, if it was pouring outside, it was pouring in our kitchen. We called roofers, handymen, stucco experts, and general contractors. Some were going to charge us hundreds of dollars for a diagnostic that could yield inconclusive results; Others looked around, said “I have no idea,” and left. Then we found Dr. Leaks.Alex took a wholistic approach to the leak, showing his deep knowledge for how water can infiltrate a house. He looked at the stucco, roof, windows, plumbing, etc., and provided a step-by-step plan as to how he would fix it. We tried fixing small things, to see if that worked, before moving on to larger things. He noticed the true issues (stucco and plumbing) that caused the leak that other “experts” had missed. His crew was always on time, courteous, and respected our house. Alex helped us resolve a nightmare situation that seemed like it had no solution. I would recommend him and his team to anyone who is suffering from a hard-to-detect leak. Since fixing the leak in early 2019, we have had no issues. Now when it rains, I look at my ceiling with a slight panic, but can always breathe a sigh of relief.

Dr. Leaks just completed a detection and repair on a leaking HVAC exhaust pipe in my Philadelphia row home master closet. I am very happy with the experience I had with Dr. Leaks overall because they solved my problem when other professionals did not. I greatly appreciate the diagnostic framework they use in their work. I observed that they put the leak at the center of their inquiry and used a differential diagnostic approach to figure out the root cause of the leak through careful inspection and testing. My home was newly renovated when I moved in and the leak started within a year whenever there was heavy rain. We brought in a roofer who replaced our whole roof (probably unnecessarily), and brought them in again when the leak came back. They determined it was an issue with the HVAC exhaust pipe which they did not want to touch. So, we brought in an HVAC company, whose techs came out multiple times and could only offer additional caulk to the outside of the exhaust pipe, which ultimately failed. At this point I was very frustrated because it felt as if the professionals I had consulted either a) didn't see the cause of the leak in-scope of their work or b) wouldn't think outside of the box about how to solve the leak. I suppose I could have kept calling HVAC professionals, but that felt like a waste of time and money.I emailed Dr. Leaks in October 2020 and had one of the team members come out and thoroughly learn about the leak, but only from the inside of the house (no charge for this visit). Then, I had a second visit from multiple Dr. Leaks team members in January 2021 to formally diagnose the leak which involved going onto the roof and using water to simulate rain and figure out what was going on ($250 charge for this visit). They sent me a leak report diagnosing the problem and suggesting repairs. Then, I had a third visit in February 2021 where the owner and his team came out and fixed the leak, which involved a creative solution to stabilize the exhaust pipe from the inside and outside, shorten it and replace the cap ($200/hr for labor + materials). After seeing whether or not the leak was fixed over a few weeks and rains, we had a final visit from the team at the end of March 2021 to repair the ceiling - which involved drywall, a new access panel, replacement of some trim and painting ($200/hr for labor + materials).Communication with office staff was good, scheduling was easy and payment was online. They provided photos and documentation of everything they did on buildersite. Everyone who came into my home was polite, professional and took COVID-19 precautions. The only two cons to the experience were 1) they did not have a ladder they could go 3 stories to my roof, so they had to access my roof with a ladder on my neighbor's roof and 2) the quality of the repair to the ceiling was just ok - not as nicely finished as I expected for the many hours of work put in, but it is functional and in a master closet so I'm satisfied enough. The primary reason I am giving Dr. Leaks 5 stars is that they fixed my problem. I no longer have to check and see if my closet leak bucket is in place every time it rains! This was not an inexpensive repair, but I feel that the money I spent was worth it for my peace of mind. I think you have to evaluate your leak situation and see if your issue is best suited for a specialized company like this. If you have a garden-variety issue then you may be better off starting with a first-line professional, but if you (like me) want someone that will focus on your leak and think outside of the box, I'd strongly recommend this company.Service: Roof repair

They took max amount of quoted time (including the 10% extra) to detect the leak. Then went over the quote by thousands of dollars and only one person did the job. Dr. Leaks Philly found and fixed a leak in my roof that was causing moisture/mold in one of my closets. Alex was quick to respond via email and continued being communicative via text throughout the project. Alex and Pablo were always on time and professional. This work took place during COVID, and they were very good about social distancing and wearing masks, even when doing work inside. You can tell that Alex really cares about his clients and continues to check in to make sure everything continues to be in working order. Would recommend.

After a big storm, we found two leaks in our home. Alex was able to come out quickly and walk us through what it could be and what their process is. They were also very accommodating with our schedule. They showed us before and after pictures and the difference really is night and day.
