Donald Shunk from DJS Home Remodeling should never again be aloud to operate any type of construction or home remodeling business.Donald Shunk completed a structural and roofing project at my house in 2018. Even before the project was completed there were issues leading Donald Shunk to file a claim with his insurance company due to significant damages to my property.The roof was improperly installed from the rafters, plywood, and shingles. I hired an independent roofing consultant to provide this information. I filed a lawsuit against Donald Shunk and DJS Home Remodeling. Donald Shunk failed to show up to a deposition. I was awarded a sum of money only to find out a short time later that Donald Shunk filed for bankruptcy. Donald Shunk was also sued by other clients of his all not to be paid back a single penny.Stay away from Donald Shunk and DJS Home Remodeling, or whatever fictitious name he tries to reopen under in the future.

We spent $3500 to have our tub replaced and the walls around it tiled. The caulking and grouting look like a 5 year old did it. Nothing was wiped down. There was dried grout on everything. Don came in and it took two tries (a month apart) to get the shower so it didn’t leak. He promised to come back and fix up the rest. We’ve haven’t heard from him (since May). I just spent $600 for real professionals to do the recalling and some other things. I still have to get the grout fixed. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.The photos show examples of his work.

BEWARE. I signed a contract with Don for work to start in March 2022. The basement refinishing was to be completed in less than 2 weeks per Don. Fast forward to June 2022 and months of my patience, and my basement is 1/4 finished. Don has not completed the work OR communicated with me in almost 6 weeks. Unprofessional, unresponsive and unreliable are 3 words that come to mind to describe DJS Home Remodeling, LLC. Excuse after excuse is unprofessional and unacceptable.

Not sure how my previous review was removed (weird...), but here it is again. Don, the D of DJS, was supposed to start my project in August of 2020. Came in an provided estimate and timeline of the project. He asked for 2/3’s of the money upfront, which I ignorantly paid... and had literally nothing but delays and problems ever since. It’s actually pretty embarrassing telling people about my experience with DJS Home Remodeling, because I was completely taken advantage of. I eventually had to terminate the contract because he left us without a kitchen for 9 Months, in addition to leaving my 5 year-olds room without heat during the winter.I hope this doesn’t happen to others, unless you feel like being manipulated, conned, and losing a lot of money.

Local contractor here, I got called in to fix/ finish a kitchen renovation Don took on. The craftsmanship is terrible, we had to completely reassemble the kitchen island today because it was so poorly thrown together. . I'm tired of seeing people getting taken advantage of by bad contractors. Check out the owners review (William K) on Home Advisor to verify.Don, look into another career, you aren't any good at this one. I'm thinking something along the lines of burger flipping are more in your wheelhouse.

Don is methodical about his work and did an outstanding job replacing our deck. Unlike many contractors, he promptly got back to me after my initial request, met with me soon thereafter and wrote up a detailed estimate on the spot. He did the work in the timeframe we agreed upon, and like I said before - his craftsmanship is evident. I have no reservations recommending him to anyone looking for remodeling work.

I have had a leak that was growing bigger and bigger. This happened after I had another company put a new roof on my home. I called them out twice after the roof was put on and they made a fool of me so I gave up for a long time. I did have one person try to resolve the problem, but it did not last. I finally found DJS home remodeling and Don came out and in no time he figured out what the problem was. The water was coming in because of the way the flashing was done at my bedroom windows. Instead of the roofer taking all the old flashing off they put more on top and that is where it was coming in. I have heard that it can be difficult to find a leak, but Don found it quickly and fixed the problem. I would recommend him highly. He worked quickly to resolve the problem and I will have him come out and do other work for me.
