J Wilson was the most responsive and professional of several "slate roof specialists" I contacted. They were also the one I've seen servicing many of the homes in my neighborhood. They were on time for the initial inspection and the day of the repairs, which turned out to be several weeks earlier than quoted. The team that came out were very courteous and explained exactly what they would be doing. They even cleaned and straightened the gutters while they were up there. I should not have put off calling them earlier and will now be calling them annually to maintain our roof. We had mild leaks leading to interior ceiling damage; a friend recommended Wilson as experts in slate roof repair, and said that expertise matters. Multiple roofers have worked on our 110-year old slate roof in the past, but some trouble spots never seemed to clear up, or if they did, quickly returned. Rob from Wilson did a very professional free inspection and provided photos showing every slate that needed replacement. They were thorough and professional and all the leaks we were aware of have stopped. In addition, we no longer see small amounts of water in our basement when it rains, which we didn’t think was a roof issue, but apparently it was. J Wilson is a slate roof company - not an ordinary roofer. They started by inspecting and photographing my roof to identify slates requiring attention. That was followed by a written proposal which included the photos, marked to show key areas for attention, and a price/number of slates estimate. Slate roofs are complicated, living roofs, that can last for more than a century with regular maintenance. J Wilson sent competent, qualified personnel, who were very nice. I would very highly recommend Wilson Enterprises for any roofing work you are considering. I am very highly impressed with their quality work for the following reasons:Professionalism: all the roofers were outstanding professionals who were friendly and expert at what they were doing. I was amazed at the ease with which they scaled ladders to work on our roof which tops our multi-level Victorian home. All debris from the original roof were taken away each day. There was no scaffolding, just work from ladders, so our home did not look like it was being overwhelmed by scaffolding. They were not intimidated by the roof height at all but worked carefully and safely and with ease.Crafts persons: Rob and crew installed a flat copper roof on our front porch which is rather large as well as copper work on roof cresting and tower. They managed to keep our original Yankee gutters in the front of our home and redid the gutters. They checked our very large chimney which did not need to be repointed. We actually had another roofer, several months later who worked on our neighbor`s roof, tell us that our roof and the work done on it was outstanding. That`s a tribute coming from another roofer.Work Habits: the crew was always on time and cleaned up any debris thoroughly and quickly. They were always polite and friendly.And finally, they installed a custom-made roof finial 5 feet tall on our tower. This work was all done from ladders from the ground. I was so pleased when each of the roofers signed his name and the date on the inside of the finial prior to installation.Finally, you cannot go wrong with taking advantage of the expertise, experience and knowledge of the folks at this amazing company. I've been a satisfied customer of J Wilson Enterprises since 2016. It is incredibly hard to find a roofing company that will work on a slate roof and even harder to find a company that will do a good job. J Wilson has done repairs to a portion of a dormer that had developed a leak, they've replaced slate damaged in a storm, and they come by yearly to check on the roof and notify me if anything needs attention. They've also rebuilt a box gutter for me that had failed due to age. We have J Wilson come out once a year to inspect our 100 year old slate roof. I called mid year, because we noticed water pouring over one of our gutters during a heavy rain. They sent a technician out quickly, he inspected the situation and fixed it that day. The next day, he called me to thoroughly explain what was done to fix the situation. Best experience with someone coming to do work on our home that we have had! Jeff showed up quickly to do our estimate which included pictures and a breakdown of everything. About 3 weeks later, they scheduled our roof repair. The workers showed up on time, were very nice & respectful, and did a great job of cleaning up. They then went over everything they did. I think the price was great, especially for the quality of work that they did. I will definitely recommend them to others and if we need more repairs, they will be my first call!

We got an estimate and within 3 days we had a crew at my house starting the work. They were done in less than 2 full days and everything looked great. No mess outside or anything. Very clean. 3 days after they were done we had a very windy day. 40+ mph winds all day and they stopped at my house to check and make sure everything was still in good shape. I was very surprised to see them back after 3 days and making sure the slate roof was still in good condition after the wind storm. To me that is going above and beyond so I wanted to thank everyone for doing a wonderful job
