I decided not to build with Brookside. I've seen their finished products up close and they look great! I have family that are very satisfied with their work. Unfortunately, I asked what their markup is. The markup is how they make their money. General Contractors MUST have a markup for it to make sense. But some have them as high as 40-50%. I have no idea what Brooksides is because they wouldn't tell me. But other builders in the area do disclose it so I can't buy the line that "nobody discloses that".If you're not interested in knowing what you pay for their service then Brookside seems like a great place to work together toward your dream home.3 Stars because everything else seems great. Just unfortunate because I was pretty set on working with them.

My husband and I had a great experience with Brookside. We had the pleasure of working one-on-one with Staci to create our dream house. When I retired in December 2021 and returned to my home state of Pennsylvania, I knew that it would be at least a year of renting and getting resettled before moving forward with my lifelong dream of finally becoming a homeowner.During those past months, I had ample time to speak with friends and family members including a few new homeowners who they considered to be the best home builders in the area.Brookside Homes was a name that I kept hearing over and over. The comments that seemed to echo the most were how friendly, professional, and helpful the Brookside team proved to be throughout the entire building process.As one lady mentioned to me, everyone expects to experience some turbulence throughout the home building process, but when this happened to her, the Brookside team was there to answer every question she had. They were simply marvelous to work with.In March 2023 I decided to move forward with my plan. I met with Brookside Homes at their Shamokin Dam, PA office.The gentleman I spoke to and met with several times thereafter was Josh H.What a truly great representative Josh is for Brookside Homes. He listened contently to what I had in mind and offered up some beautiful home plans that were well within my budget.I drew up a similar home plan to one that “somewhat matched” one of the Brookside plans.Josh was kind to listen to me on what I’d like in the home. He then took my “unprofessional” design plan and professionally reworked it incorporating design changes into the Brookside plan. As for speedy work, I was very impressed when Josh sent the revised plan to me the following day.The drawing turned out fantastic, just as I had envisioned and all that I would want in a future dream home!My experience with Brookside Home is nothing short of inspiring.I would recommend Brookside Homes to anyone who plans to build their dream home. To build a house during the middle of a pandemic is no small feat! We HIGHLY recommend Brookside homes if you are considering building a home. We built the Casale 1 home plan with some custom changes to the first floor layout. Austin was our sales consultant and he was spectacular every step of the way. Each and every individual we interacted with at Brookside Homes was caring, understanding, and motivated to see the completion of our project. Additionally, each and every crew that worked on our home was friendly and ready to answer any questions that we had. We are currently building with brook side homes. We picked out light gray cabinets. Brook side sent a light gray cabinet door to garveys so we could match the flooring and the backsplash to the light gray cabinets. After that we had a meeting at brook side and all our choices were laid out on a large table so we could confirm our choices. We were happy with our choices, they wrote our choices up and we signed the paper. Several months later we went up to see the cabinets, granite, and backsplash. The cabinets that were installed were a dark brown, not the ones we picked out. We contacted brook side to tell them they installed the wrong cabinets and their responses was, “you signed the contract to approve the choices”. We did not know we had to double check their order numbers. We thought the people working their, new how to do their job and order the stuff we picked out. Than they told us the light gray cabinets would cost us more money. That choice was ours, not theirs. Now I am stuck with dark cabinets, the wrong color floor and wrong cabinet handles because we chose colors to match a light gray cabinet. The handles blend in with the cabinets, not nice looking. Also the floors have bubbles in them. The bathroom cabinet is also dark brown instead of gray. Also they put large stones on our driveway and we have to put vehicles in 4 wheel drive to get up the driveway. Also they said the would make the bank in back of house and front of house nice. It looks horrible. We paid a lot of money for this house and are extremely unhappy. Do not build with brook side homes!!! You will not get the home that you paid for. What will they mess up in the next month?

I received a phone call from Staci asking if we are still considering building, and that we can place a $1000 deposit to lock in pricing. I honestly can not believe they have the nerve to call us, as we put a forfeited $1000 deposit down in November or October of 2019 to "lock in" pricing.I have considered writing a review multiple times, so if someone is having similar experiences as us, they can save some time and money. Around the time we made a deposit to build, we were having difficulties with communication. When we'd talk to Staci, there were times she was great and gave us confidence about our decision to build with Brookside. The times in between were unbelievably poor. We'd inquire about upgrades to our plan, and it would take 2-4 weeks to hear back. Every time I'd call to check in, I was told it would be ready by the end of the week, and two more weeks would pass without receiving information. Others who were in the process of building were having similar issues with communication and writing poor reviews on facebook about it. Brookside's solution to this was to take down the review section on their facebook page. I had waited a month for an updated plan that I was told would take a week. We had to travel from State College to Selinsgrove for an appointment to discuss our plan and review our information, and the updated plan needed to be ready for us to discuss it with Staci while there. I explained that I would need to request off work ahead of time to be there. Two days before the appointment, I checked in to make sure the plans were ready because I had not received them via email yet. I was told that they weren't, and was asked to reschedule the appointment for next week. My husband and I cannot get approved vacation time to take off work with that short of notice. It was a mess the whole way through. I complained about this specifically, I believe with Crystal and Staci. I was told, multiple times, that they were incredibly busy. Crystal told me she'd be nervous about building with someone who wasn't busy.When Covid hit, we stopped hearing from Brookside. Their base prices increased $15,000 and we were told that our plan needed the owner's approval to keep our original contract price. It was denied, but took a month to figure that out.So if you are wondering if we are still interested in building nearly 3 years later, we already built our home through someone else and are currently living in it. It never took more than a day to get pricing on an upgrade with our builder. We wasted $1000, plus two days of our time (traveling 1.5 hours each way for appointments), with our 2 year old in tow, by attempting to build with Brookside. I hope Steve reads this.

We shopped around before selecting Brookside. The price and quality are good.Any issues we had, they walked us through it...just ask them. After our home was finished, they still took care of any issues that arose. Other home builders might be less costly, but other builders use cheaper quality materials. And most builders don't care about you after the home is built. Brookside follows up with you afterwards. You get what you pay for... And we are glad we went with the signature series. (We build the Bassett Hall model and made modifications).We have been in our home for 2 years now and we are very pleased! :)

I grew up in a Brookside Homes house that was built in 1993 and it is still the place my parents call home. Brookside not only cares about every customer and their needs, they care about building the best home. It is not the cheapest builder up front, but it will save you money by going with them in the long run because everything is built with long-lasting quality in mind with the most energy efficient products on the market. Their service department checks in with you after 60 days and 1 year to make sure everything is going well and they have a 12 Year Structural warranty included on every house. My husband and I will only build with Brookside as we plan our forever dream home. If you are looking to build a forever home, Brookside is absolutely the best!

We are very pleased with our experience with Brookside Homes. I was impressed from the beginning when the owner met us at our building lot and staked out the site for our new home. Stacey then made the process very easy for us as it was our first time building. She was able to take us to see inside the home that we wanted to build. We knew the exact cost of building down to the penny prior to beginning. If we ever had a question while building, we received a prompt return call. The building site was always left very clean. The owner then met up with us again for the final walk through. At the one year call back, we only had a few minimal items that needed attention. We've now been in our home almost two years, and would be willing to show others our home.

Well below average communication from beginning to end of process. Novice errors made in planning during construction phases. I was warned from previous customers it would go like this. Highly recommend shopping around before committing to purchasing a home.

Had a consult, spent 2.5 hours there and then never heard back. Multiple emails sent, only thing I got was a generic email from someone saying happy holidays because I was on a mailing list. Apparently wanting to spend 250k doesn’t even get you an email back saying sorry, we aren’t interested.
