It's hard to believe that it took me a year to write this review. I apologize to anyone who used this shoddy contractor for any work around your homes.We hired this company to take an enclosed porch and turn it into a four season room. Everything was fine when we agreed on the terms, price, and scope of the project. Mike was very responsive and accommodating at the onset so we felt comfortable with our decision. Little did we know that this minor renovation would turn into the nightmare it has become.On the first work day a "carpenter" showed up at our home with no idea of what he was supposed to do or how he was to do it. I should have called off the project then but we had given Mike a deposit so we let it go.The project did get finished after three attempts and, on the surface at least, it looked decent. That is until it rained! Water leaked in through the windows and damaged the new drywall. We called Mike and he sent his "carpenter" to re-caulk the windows and the new siding that was installed. For awhile this worked but it was obviously doomed to fail.We have now had to hire another contracting firm to actually redo this job correctly as the leaking has continued to worsen and do more damage to the room.If you're looking for a competent contractor please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere!Services: General construction, Installation, Paint indoors, Remodeling, Drywall installation

We hired Mike to re-do our basement after it flooded. Mike and his guys were always on time and Mike was a great communicator through the whole process. They were able to start pretty quickly and they got the job done in a reasonable amount of time for a great price. We will definitely hire Mike again and his team again.Service: Remodeling

The owner Mike was very pleasant when he came out to give me an estimate for adding a covered deck to my home. He was referred to us by a friend who used him for a few projects. After reviewing the proposal we gave him a deposit that equaled a third of the project cost. Once the project started I had a sinking feeling. 1 issue after another that was only addressed after I brought it to his attention, he always assured me that it would be handled and promised I would be very happy with the final project. From what I can tell he sub the job out since he was never actually on-site. He would text me updates on progress, but when I would get home from work they weren’t accurate. He was just forwarding messages from whomever he sent to do the actual work. I paid most of the final payment with only 1 issue to fix. I just wanted him out of my life at this point. 8 weeks to build a deck is absurd and I actually didn't expect to see him after I paid him, which I would be fine with if it was for the safety issues that I found in the week after I paid him. The electrician he used left live wires in my basement ceiling when he was looking to tie in the lighting. I contacted him immediately 6 days ago, but he still hasn’t sent someone to repair. I’m now forced to hire an electrician to fix and inspect his work for safety reasons and the concrete steps he poured are already falling apart and will need to be replaced.Service: General construction

We hired MCG Contracting for our kitchen remodel project in a home we had recently purchased. This was my first experience hiring someone to do a remodel as I have always preferred to “do it myself”. The first eye popping experience was contacting kitchen companies and being overwhelmed by the price tag - talk about sticker shock. When Mike came to our home, he walked us through everything and went over options, but he also helped us to understand where not to cut corners and why it made sense to go for the finished product we wanted. He knew this would be our kitchen for decades to come and the important role it plays in the home. We are thrilled with the finished product and everyone who walks into our kitchen is wowed with the results. I deeply appreciate a company that stays true to their mission. They delivered on everything they said they would and their quality was top notch. Thank you to the entire team for holding true to your values and making my kitchen dreams a reality!! I cannot tell you how often I catch myself at night staring into our kitchen from the family room and just absolutely loving everything about it!

Awful experience. Took our money and abandoned the job leaving us with a mess. Lied repeatedly. Only started the job but did it wrong both structurally and not according to the plans. We have had to incur more expense and aggravation to correct what he did and to finish the job. He will never work in Chester County again bc his reputation now is ruined at township offices bc he writes bad checks for permits (even though we paid him 2/3). He also doesnt pay his subs or suppliers. . Perhaps our money paid for his benz and watch. Run from Mike Gillam and MCG. You have been warned.

What we love most, however, is that they genuinely care about the work they do and it shows in the design and craftsmanship. We always recommend them to our clients that have remodeling projects or even new home builds.

Unfortunately what was an on going relationship with several successful projects has turned south. MCG CANNOT be trusted. His work, reliability, trust, and ethics are nonexistent. He over promises and under delivers. I've spent a lot of money repairing his mistakes and a lot of time dealing with township code officers for his lack of professionalism and use of permits.Services: General construction, Installation, Remodeling, Flooring
