Bill, his son and the rest of the crew at New England Roofing are not just roofers; they are craftsman who install roofs. Our situation was complex; we needed a new roof and wanted edge and ridge vents installed to help keep the home cooler in the Summer months and to combat ice dams in the Winter.Every other company we had out to quote the job was selling us half baked solutions or simply wanted to shingle the house and be done with it. Bill arrived on time, and went out of his way to help me, fully knowing we could not strike a deal for his company to replace my roof (no fault of Bill’s- I have a “special needs” kind of roof). New England Roofing did stunning work on our house and barn. We liked Bill Cahill the minute we met him and felt very comfortable entrusting our 300-year-old house to him and his team. He dealt very honestly with us, quoted us a fair price, and helped steer us towards the right color selection for the roof. This was a big job and as always with old houses there were surprises along the way, but Bill took care of them all and even fixed the chimney for us and helped roof and side an old shed on the property (which is now a chicken coop). We couldn’t be more thrilled with how everything turned out – the whole team’s attention to detail created an end result that has transformed the house and barn but is totally consistent with the history of the property. Bill and his son did a great job reroofing my home a few years ago. Reasonable price and quality work from two great guys. Bill is an extremely helpful and personable guy who also helped me with a yard project when on break from my roof.Recently I noticed moss on my roof and both guys came by to take a look a few days after I sent them a message via their website. They suggested a roofing spray connected to my hose would take care of the problem. This would also be an inexpensive fix that I could easily do myself. He and his son sealed a crack in the flashing, water sealed my chimney and also generally gave me a quick roof inspection. If all businesses would deliver their products and services like New England Roofing of Chepachet, RI the world would be a much better place! We felt like we were given solid guidance and advice and a VERY FAIR price!Even more important than the personable, respectful treatment and fair price, these guys are not average construction workers, but artisans. They use high quality materials and, rather than carelessly (or even carefully!) pounding a nail gun like a machine gun through the high quality shingles and into our roof, they meticulously use their hands and their hammers to carefully place each nail where it should go. As the owner, Bill Cahill, told us, the alternative of using a nail gun (which most companies use and which would allow them to complete the job twice as fast!) often damages the shingles as well as the roof and risks almost certain future issues resulting from a leaky roof.As other reviewers have noted, they were careful with our property and, when they were finished, they carefully rounded up loose debris, leaving the property the way they found it.At the beginning, Mr. Cahill told us that he stands by their work. An architect referred me to Bill Cahill to replace my roof with this advice: you may have to wait, but the job will be done right, the price will be fair and reasonable, and you’ll have a quality roof for 50 years. Well, everything he said was true with the exception that his crew came within the week and not only did we not have to wait, but the large, highly organized crew literally worked from sun up to sun down. They even repaired my chimney and gutters! I had a beautiful new roof to sleep under THAT NIGHT! Everything was cleaned up when they left. It was like magic.
