During a storm with high winds, half of a large tree fell on the front of our house. Dealing with the aftermath was a stressful experience. We had to work with our insurance company, have an inspection, and worry about the results. However, I'm grateful for Robert, the owner of A Cut Above, who helped us through the process. He patiently answered all our questions and responded to my numerous questions and concerns. He helped me understand the language of both the roofing industry and insurance in relation to the roof. Thanks to him, I felt like I had been equipped with straightforward information and reliable options, which was very empowering in an otherwise stressful situation. The end result was a good quality roof delivered promptly. Additionally, they had 1-2 people present throughout the entire process, who walked around the house and cleaned up any debris. I've had bad experiences with construction companies leaving nails in our driveway, which led to flat tires. Fortunately, that was not the case with A Cut Above.

This is perhaps lengthy, but the phenomenal job A Cut Above Roofing did on my home warrants it.I purchased a historic home in Gainesboro (circa 1900) a few months ago knowing that I would need a complete roof replacement. There were 4 - 5 layers of shingles on top of the original metal roof, so the job was no small undertaking.This was the first actual roof replacement in 120+ years. This roof had seen A LOT over the decades and had been put through the ringer with basic patchwork by what appeared to be a series of unskilled roofers. From the moment I contacted A Cut Above Roofing, I knew they were the company for the job. Robert came out, saw the scope of the project and got to work quickly, undeterred.Robert was an absolute pleasure to work with throughout the project. He was on time, dependable, and always quick with a return call. I cannot stress how uncommon this is, especially in our current economy. He gave me an excellent price for what turned out to be a MASSIVE job (even bigger than we initially thought). Robert's team undid decades of poor workmanship and neglect with aplomb. The new roof on this historic home makes it (and the entire street) look like a million bucks. Most importantly, it's as functional as it is beautiful.Important to note here as well: for my particular project and current financial situation (again, this project was MASSIVE), I had to secure financing. Robert also had that available. He walked me through options and helped get me a great deal for the project.Robert is great dude. I feel like it could trust him and depend on the A Cut Above Roofing team. I hope to have another home in the area I can hire him to roof one day, because he definitely will not need to replace this one any time soon. Their contract states: "We guarantee our workmanship for 10 full years".At year 8, when the roof leaked, I called and was told if the roof leaked due to a workmanship issue, it would have failed in the first year. Therefore, the leak must be due to lack of maintenance or storm damage. He refused to come out to inspect or repair the roof. He stated he was busy installing new roofs and does not do repair work.I found a different licensed roofing company willing to come out. The repair of exposed nails and a leaking pipe boot were required. Whether that's considered warranty work or not, A Cut Above Roofing refused help.Bottom-line, drop a zero on A Cut Above Roofing's 10 Year Warranty!

We called numerous roofing companies for a quote and A Cut Above Roofing answered in a timely manner, came to our home, walked the roof which needed to be replaced as well as replace plywood in some areas. They matched the color we were looking for, and their quote was very fair. Robert Smith was very professional and called us numerous times regarding installation dates (due to weather and safety of the crew). The crew showed up on the appointed date, removed the old roof, replaced plywood, removed the old dish from the roof and laid the new roof in one day. Initially I had a great experience corresponding with Robert. He was clear as to when he would call me to schedule an estimate, updated me when there was a change in his plans, and was cordial and professional. After he provided the estimate, I asked him to provide a written quote which I could review, as well as my insurance company, given the estimate from A Cut Above was higher than the estimated replacement cost provided by my insurance company. I specifically asked if he could provide an itemized estimate which broke down the cost of each part of the job as well as the measurements for comparison purposes. He refused and became aggressive and defensive. His change in tone was shocking to me as this is pretty routine request. Up until that point, I was planning to hire A Cut Above, but did not feel comfortable moving forward with the change in his tune and lack of transparency. I was able to find another reputable roofer who accepted the estimate from my insurer and itemized all the work to be done. Win-win for me as I do not have any out-of-pocket expense aside from my deductible and I am working with transparent professionals.

Robert was a joy to work with on our parents' home roof. We had storm damage and he made an assessment and gave us a quote in a short period of time. Still had a warranty on my roof installation. Had a water stain on my ceiling and called for service to find the problem. I talked to the owner and he said he would be out in a day or so. Very responsive. Estimate matched what insurance adjuster had allowed. Five person crew completed the job in two days. Phased the tear off of the old roof to match the replacement so the roof was always covered. Excellent cleanup. Biggest selling point for us was they use GAF materials exclusively. Not my real name of course but whatever. Anyhow, contractor came out and gave us an estimate that was the same as the low cost no-name contractor that was doing my neighbor's roof. Used quality materials, explained the whole process, and were there when they said they would be there. Now six months later the roof has been flawless through several storms. The install crew really hustled and they were done in two days and as other reviewers mentions, they did a very good job of cleaning up after the project. If I needed a roof again I would call "A Cut Above" first.

When I called Robert I was not expecting to be able to afford his services. We needed to have 3 layers of shingles ripped off and replaced. I had heard great reviews on his company and hoped we could have him do this job. I figured with his experience, quality of products and warranty that the price would be way above what our adjuster had quoted. He even told us that he wasn't the cheapest in town. Robert took the time to explain about the quality of the shingles and provided literature and addresses of houses to view color / style as part of the initial consultation. They were responsive to calls and provided excellent estimates on when work would be done.The install crew showed up on time and let us know they were starting. There was some confusion about repairing the underlying OSB in a couple of spots. One spot with minor damage was not repaired. A corner of the roof was repaired, but the roof edge (where gutters attach) was not reattached to the roof. I'm not sure if that is normally the type of thing they repair.The install crew finished in one day and were careful to clean up around the house for nails, etc.The finished roof looks good and we are pleased with the installation.
