My Husband and I began our dream in building our forever home the spring of 2023. It being our first time we were unsure about the process. Red Door sat us down with their very friendly staff and explained everything and walk us through it every step of the way. We were able to follow along each day of progress with their builder trend site. I loved working with their interior designer with picking out colors, materials, fixtures, and design. Their Project Manager Ed Revera went above and beyond with his team to add all the extras we requested. There was a few personal items we wanted to entwine into our home. And he made sure that’s what they did. Even though we were not in so Santa could come down our beautiful wood burning fireplace. We have been able to celebrate this new year in it. Thank each and every one of you to make our forever home beautiful and a reality.Jennifer & Darrell2024

My wife Jennifer and I began looking for someone to build a home on our property in 2023 and we were fortunate to find a great team at Red Door Homes. Zach Taylor and Ty Holden did a super job of explaining all of our option and Jennifer loved working with Erica Smith to find our brick, flooring colors and cabinets. I would like to give a special thanks to our project manager Ed Rivera for keeping us informed about scheduling and adding a few special touches and building us a beautiful home. Besides a few minor set backs and terrible weather at the end I could not have been more pleased with how things went. Thanks again Ed and the whole Red Door team.

My wife and I are very pleased with our new home by Red Door. We broke ground in Summer of 2023 and was able to move in early 2024. The process was about as smooth as you could expect. I don't know what we would have done without our project manager, Ed Rivera. He went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with everything throughout the entire process. I couldn't recommend Red Door enough for people wanting to build. They have a great team and deliver a quality build.

The office personnel was very helpful and allowed my wife and I to bring ideas of what we wanted in our home to the planning table. We also really enjoyed working with our project manager Bryan Davis. With having a construction background myself it was nice to have a project manager that didn't give me the run around on things and get me informed on the project. I appreciate that they take pride in their workmanship and even during COVID-19 Era they didn't sacrifice quality for quantity.

Me and my wife have had a terrible experience with Red door homes of East TN and it’s still not over. We started talking with red door in March of 2021 and signed paperwork in April of 2021 and over a year later our house still is unfinished. Our salesmen Thomas told us our contract stated the house will be done within 8 months but they typically get everything done within 5-7 months, but that timeline has more than doubled. No we did not make any change orders to make the house take longer in fact red door told us about several items that they couldn’t get in time and I went out and purchased the items myself including lighting, door hardware, locks, etc. And also some items we wanted done like a driveway, sidewalk and kitchen backsplash that we told them just forget it we will get it done ourselves just get the house done. The communication has been terrible we had a whole selections meeting where we spent about two hours at the beginning of the process going over colors and flooring and such and then when it came down to start building they had lost the paperwork from our selections meeting, so we had to do another selections meeting and they still got selections wrong. The only person that seemed to care was our project coordinator Jeremy and he has since quit Red door homes. Me and my wife are now left with an unfinished home and have yet to be contacted on when the house will be finished. We have tried being understanding of the times and know that some items have been taking longer to get and what not but at this point Red door homes has takin advantage of our patients. Buyer beware the sales staff will just tell you whatever you want to hear the selections staff have no idea what is going on and the project coordinator has so many houses to deal with at once they can’t focus on your house and issues will arise. I’ve attached some pictures of the house and some pictures of cracks in the drywall and paint bubbling and flacking off.Service: Home building

We started our process of building a home with Red Door Homes in the spring of 2022. We were looking to move to East Tennessee and found them on Google, we were particularly interested in their Davenport home design. We started working with Zach Taylor upon our first conversation with Red Door. I want to start by saying that Zach is great to work with, he knows all about the different options and furnishings when it comes to selecting fixtures for the home. He was a pleasure and courteous of us both during the entire process. The problems arose with the Red Door building team and their lack of communication through the process. We stated from the beginning we wanted the Davenport model prior to purchasing our land. We asked Red Door to survey the land prior to purchase to ensure it was buildable to what we were looking for, and we were told they could build that model on it. We purchased the land and started the fixture selection process. We spent a few hours with Zach designing our options within our budget. Once we got through the selection meeting, Zach indicated that they needed more information on the lot and requested we sign up for a development contract so they could do more analysis of our property prior to starting a build at a cost of $4,500. After close to six months of lack of response and delays, the development team came back and stated they could not build the Davenport model on our land due to the steepness of the slope, and due to that it was recommended we would need a walk out basement, which was not what we wanted. On top of that, the foundation costs with the lot made building a house that would suit our needs next to impossible within anywhere close to our budget. Zach was in between a rock and a hard place because he knew we would not want to, or be able to, proceed with the house build under those circumstances. My wife and I both believe that all of this could have been avoided if they spent more time reviewing our land before we made the land purchase. We were up front about our budget and expectations and wish Red Door would have been a better partner for us with helping us achieve that goal. Under these conditions, we would not recommend working with Red Door Homes. They were not helpful during our land selection, leading us to purchase a lot that was not suitable for our desired house plan. The development contract was a waste of $4,500, and we were left with a lot that we hope to sell in the future.

We built our home through Red Door Homes of East Tennessee this past year and could not be happier. They had great selections/options, and also worked with us for changes in the floorplan template to customize things the way we wanted them.Bryon was our PM, and did an outstanding job not only with building what we wanted but was also super thoughtful about how things were done, and thinking about the future for us as well. We even finished well before the original anticipated project completion date and were able to move in. Many thanks to Bryon for not only being a great guy, but also being an expert in construction and thinking ahead for his customers.Post-build and move-in, the warranty team has been excellent on taking care of minor post-build items that needed to be addressed (you run into this no matter where and who the builder is). Super timely, efficient and ensuring that things are right. Many thanks to Dakota for being so thoughtful and ensuring that things are right. We have been so pleased with the build process and our finished home that my brother-in-law is retiring to the Knoxville area, and building his home with Red Door as well.Services: Design, Predesigned floor plans for homes, Home blueprint design creation, Country home building

We are more than happy with our new build. We had so many people warn us about the head-ache of building a home and our experience was great, and I believe that was because we chose Red Door . The entire process was almost perfect. Bryon was our project manager and we give major props to him for so many things! Always keeping the work space clean, keeping us in the loop every day, making sure we got everything we wanted, always being prompt and being so organized. Our home is everything we dreamed of and we couldn't be happier!! Thank you Red Door and Bryon for being so awesome!Service: Custom home design

We were initially going to build the 1382 sq foot Norfolk, and went by the office November 2021 and began to deal with Thomas. Covid was still an issue, and housing prices were inflated. Even so, the base model, with a few upgrades, seemed doable. However, by January 2022, the price of the base went up 7k. We got a 20k quote just for adding a crawl space (base model is a slab in an area where most people have a crawl space or basement.) We had been quoted 5k for a small front porch, but the pricing sheet ranged from 5k to 12k. That's not small change! And although we had cleared property with electric access and driveway, the land prep was still considerable. So, essentially, base model price plus additional 40k to 70k (range!) if we didn't get the crawl space. That's before we even chose a door knob or considered one upgrade. After discussing, we decided we could swing the base price, land prep, and just get the slab as long as things stayed on the low range of pricing. During this short period, the base price went up again. We complained to Thomas and he tried to show pricing models where materials were going higher, but it wasn't accurate. "Most" materials were going down across the board, but since housing prices were nearly doubling in the area, Red Door was just trying to get their cut (The same house was cheaper at some of their other locations, like in North Carolina. As they are a business, that's expected but it's hard to swallow.)Still leery of traditional/independent contractors, we wanted to try to make things work with Red Door. We asked about the cost of roofline changes in the craftsman style, among other things, and for some reason, Thomas went silent. I reached out again, and he said much of their staff had covid, that he'd get me the numbers soon. He never did.By that time, a local contractor came into our lives, making it very clear that he could suit our needs and budget with clear cut pricing. Our home was finished March of 2023. It is has more square footage than Norfolk, granite countertops, two porches, a larger two car garage, crawl space, brick trim, custom tiled shower with bench, and cost in the range of Norfolk's CURRENT base price of $264,274 (Norfolk went up 57k from November 2021.)If you have money to burn and want the speed of spec building but with quality, I think Red Door Homes is fine. Building our way may have had more delays and stresses, more decisions to make. For example, we had an allowance for tile and selected/purchased it on our own. But, in the long run, we're happy Red Door dropped the communication ball.Thomas was a nice man. I think he was at the mercy of Red Door's corporate decisions.

We signed a contract for a house with Red Door August 20, 2021. It's been over 19 months and we don't even have a move in date much less a house. The main reason is that most days nothing happens. I'd estimate that as many as 2 out of 3 work days saw zero progress made because zero workers were there. Very frustrating.I would add that they will scam you on materials through the "allowance" process. Essentially they claimed our allowances for cabinets, flooring, lighting, and anything else would be enough for at least mid grade. However once we signed and it came time to make selections all the allowances covered was the absolute bottom of the barrel choices. Even framing went $20k over. This dirty trick will cost many tens of thousands of dollars extra in "upgrades". To add insult to injury the upgrades get marked up an additional 20% so they have zero incentives to keep costs down.Once things start being built you'll see lots of low end work. Be sure to look frequently because if you don't catch mistakes they won't get corrected. My Home Depot countertops look better as an example.I absolutely would avoid Red Door as they go way over budget in terms of both time and money.

My husband and I are using Red Door to build our first home. So far, this has been an awesome experience. They're quick to get us answers to our questions, and have really listened to what we want to be able to guide us in the right direction on building our dream home within our budget. Becca, Brad, and Spencer have been rock stars through all of this, and we are so excited to get construction rolling. Can't wait to update this review with pictures of our first home!Service: Design

I do interior trim and many other carpentry related things for Red Door Homes of East Tennessee from the day they started. I also work for other contractors and red door is the best by far they care about what they are doing. They have great project managers that oversee the job and they care about what they're doing too!!! they always go the extra mile. I would recommend them to anybody looking for a house. I have known these guys for a long time. We have a good relationship and I know how they treat their customers. They are awesome Definitely 5 stars

We are enjoying our Red Door built home. After choosing a floor plan in craftsman style, the project progressed smoothly and efficiently. Workmen were polite and skilled. The house was completed in a timely manner. We receive many compliments: 'You live in that craftsman? Its the prettiest house in the neighborhood!' We made a good decision to work with Red Door.

Our house was one of the first homes Red Door Homes East TN built. They were wonderful to work with and building our house was a very positive experience. We wouldn't hesitate to build with them again and would highly recommend. After six years, we still love our solid, well-built Red Door home!

We had a Red Door home built here in the Knoxville area. We moved in about a week ago. When I look around this house all I see is quality. We lived in Orlando and also a suburb of Minneapolis and other areas as well. The quality of those homes could never match Red Door. This is the smallest home we have had but we love this one the best. Detail is very important to the builder and I can see it.I give Red Door a 10 (We love our home)

Red Door Homes was an outstanding company to work with. Should I ever build another house, it would be with them. We chose a floor plan (the Clarian), customized it to our needs (9 foot ceilings, a vaulted ceiling in the living/dining rooms, a Trey ceiling in the master bedroom, added four feet to the garage and four feet split between the other two bedrooms). We added many other options, wood flooring and ceramic tiles throughout, and more. The craftsmanship was superb, the fit and finish excellent, and their price came in thousands of dollars less than all the other bids we received. The appraisal was $90,000 more than the home actually cost - Instant Equity!! Very easy to work with from the planning, throughout the construction, I recommend them whole heartedly!

Ok. I love what I have made our home. The other positive reviews make me sad because we had the exact opposite experience. They messed up our foundation and after 3 times had them call in Master dry. Doors... note door is in the company name... are not plumb even after they fixed it. The project managers were rude and uncaring. There are too many bad experiences that outweigh the few good ones that the local franchise owner tried to work out... hence 2 stars and not one.UPDATE: I saw the post the owner made. I gave him credit for it. So now we have been here a bit longer here are a few other tid bits. Doors still not right - which we will need to fix at some point. Also, our toilet kept leaking and we finally called a plumber (after fixed 2 x's by RD's) only to find out the flange was installed incorrectly.

I've been in touch with red door homes for about seven months, talking to them off and on about building a home. When I purchased an existing home instead they were nothing but kind in wishing me the best! I can't speak to their building skills since I didn't use them but I CAN say they have top notch customer service!
