Highly recommend Roan Mountain Riding Company for your riding adventure in the mountains. Loved that you actually get to ride nice quarter horses that are so well trained and not plug along draft crosses. The property and trails were beautiful! Dave and Gabe were the best hosts! His store has some nice western gear and lots of wonderful country Amish made furniture.

This place is Terrific and as Authentic as it gets. This business is were the real cowboys & cowgirls go. The store is truly an historic Appalachian landmark at the foot of Shell Creek in Roan Mountain TN. In addition to a vast array of trail riding supplies, they sell unique, high quality merchandise which is mostly hand made. David and his crew are highly hospitable and fun. If you enjoy authentic, one of a kind places, don't pass by this store without stopping. It's right on HWY 19E.

I have been coming to ride with David for years and love it every time. Every ride is unique and fun! This is not just a little pony ride around a rink- you go up and down hills, see beautiful views, and get to REALLY ride. I've been here plenty and will be back again!

Business is NOT a “horse” store. We stopped in last week on vacation to find a second hand store. This would not have been a problem except that I waited all week for them to be open so I could get cowboy boots.

Beware: charges your credit card BEFORE you ever show up. They cancelled our ride because the horses threw their shoes that morning, it happens. What I'm not ok with is the fact that it's September 6th and I'm still fighting with my bank to get a refund for a trail ride the stable cancelled for July 6. The owner promised to mail a check refunding the amount he charged my credit card (over $100 for two people). Surprise, no check ever arrived. He was argumentative until I informed him I'm signed up for the USPS daily emails that shows scans of what mail is arriving that day and can prove he never mailed the check. No response and I'm stuck while my bank "investigates" this charge.Update 9/23/2021: it only took almost 3 months, but my bank finally closed the disputed charge. So keep in mind this could happen to you, where you literally show up to the stables, just for them to cancel and then refuse to refund you.

The owner is rude and condescending. He cusses at customers and he sells inferior products. We payed for a product and when he loaded it in our truck it was not the product we payed for.
