I must say that Southern Home Remodeling is a great company. My bathroom remodel came out beautiful! The workers are polite and did such a great job. Any mishaps were quickly fixed. Communication with Chris was good. Texts and phone calls were answered in a timely matter. I would recommend this company for any kind of remodeling or just something to fix. They do it all and at a fair price. Give them a call!!

note: this is a RARE-for-me one star review. this contractor has tried repeatedly to get me to remove poor reviews to the point of bullying. our intent here isn't to harm their business, as they claim, but to inform others of our experience so they can make their own decisions. 09/23___________________they made so many mistakes. careless crew's messes damaged so much of our house. paint SPLATTER on soapstone counters, hardwood floors, tile & exposed brick feature wall. they don't clean up after themselves at all, relying on "maid service" at nearly $300 to clean-up ONE TIME, when the jobs completed. we declined this "service", and as we cleaned up, we found so many issues.rust bleed through on metal corner bead; cracks & dings on cabinet & drawer faces; gaps, popping & excessive play in engineered hardwood flooring; kitchen circuit breakers popping; paint bleed through in every room they painted (didn't prime but charged us for it!)...... and DIDN'T OIL HW FLOORING AFTER INSTALL, VOIDING WARRANTY ON NEARLY $20K OF FLOORING! they've offered to do it now, 4-5 MONTHS LATER, as long as WE move all the furniture! we're a disabled old lady, a senior guy & our kid (who lives with us) is having a baby in a few weeks.they've threatened to place a lien on our home multiple times. they've demanded FINAL payment (appx $5k on a $200k remodel) BEFORE they complete their work. their emails go from reasonable to ridiculous to rude and back again. they made ridiculous demands after we found our home on their Facebook page and demanded all images of our home be removed.we're so tired of this drama & honestly just want them gone, but we refuse to pay someone else to fix & finish the job. they've asked us to release them from liability (warranty on their work) a few times, after we pay them over $4k.it seems they don't work with quality materials much TBH they should stick with builder grade renos, LVP & laminates their tile work isn't bad but we found a lot of grout on top ih-read the 1⭐ reviews here. there is a common thread among them all.oh...they demanded I take down my reviews on SM & threatened to sue me over them. they claim I'm creating a hostile workplace.so... inferior workmanship. carelessness damaged nearby fittings & surfaces with paint, drywall inc permanent damage to interior brick feature wall (accepted offer of $800 credit for wall damage). didn't follow engineered hardwood flooring installation instructions (given to them before they started and in every package of flooring), voiding 30-year warranty. refuse to accept responsibility for poor paint job, stating they'll "touch it up" instead of adding another coat. claiming glass patio doors they installed aren't their responsibility, they stick, sometimes I cannot close & lock without help (I'm disabled).the situation is fluid so reviews will be edited as situation changes. photos of white brick wall shows limewash treatment to hide damage while preserving brick integrity.6 months later... STILL trying to get SHR to finish what they started and fix what's broke. after my last edit, our two exterior light fixtures fell out of the wall... LITERALLY. one was hanging on by the wires and they refused to fix it. even now, their electrician removed the fixtures and capped the opening, so we have no patio lighting (we put up temporary string lights so the dogs can see at night).they are attempting to blame us for their failure to oil our floors after installation. we've been told our warranty was void before the furniture ever went in, as they were supposed to take RH readings before installing for warranty to be valid.I hate leaving bad reviews but these guys are impossible to deal with. the voice of reason within the company, founder Jake MacDonald, actually left the company for a sales job. that says something...01/24: retained an attorney. we're dealing with them now claiming to not have the resources to do needed repairs or refund our money. they've demanded reviews come down.

We reached out to SHR when the bathtub in our secondary bathroom sprang a leak. We had always imagined that eventually we would convert the tub to a walk-in shower as my mother lives with us. The leak just sped up our timeline :) Luckily, SHR was able to schedule the project to start within a week of the initial consultation and estimate. They let us know where to pick out the tile and fixtures, which made the process super easy. The tiler did absolutely gorgeous work and their cleaners post-project went above and beyond putting our bathroom back in usable working order. I now have a beautifully, remodeled master bath, specifically designed for 'aging in place'. We changed the foot print of our master by getting rid of the old tub and replacing it with this 6ft. by 4 ft. walk in shower. We got rid of the large window and replaced it with the privacy window. You can't see it in these pictures, but we had Southern Home Remodeling make us an additional linen closet in the spot where we had a 3 ft. by 3 ft shower. We are thrilled with the results. SHR kept to their time line and they were always professional.

SHR met with me to discuss scope of job. SHR Listened carefully, provided timely and detailed estimate before start date. Crew arrived on time and worked steadily on a daily basis for 2 weeks. All requested work was completed. Questions I had were addressed promptly. Gutters were removed, rotted wood repaired, total house paint, gutters reattached, new entry treads at 3 points and new light fixtures installed. I will definitely call this company for future projects.

This is the second time we have used Southern Home Remodeling and again very pleased with the outcome. Last year we had a complete new walk in shower install. After a year we are still impressed with the quality. This year we called them to install an outside vent for our new over the range microwave, again excellent work. I’ve worked with Southern Home Remodeling twice for bathroom renovations. Both times, I’ve been impressed with their project management and quality of work. Before they start, a project manager will visit and send an itemized quotes for the work you describe along with budgets for things like tile selection and hardware. Communication is great with SHR. I’ve always known when their crews were scheduled to arrive and if there would be any schedule changes in advance. They use plastic coverings and paper to help keep things clean and even send cleaners afterwards to ensure you’re getting a ready to use remodel the day they finish. Both bathroom projects took a couple weeks to complete with crews coming in nearly daily. The demo team in both projects have gotten a bit overzealous and damaged nearby cabinets or dry wall. In both cases, SHR made the repairs covered under the original quote. Working with Southern Home Remodeling is all around an excellent experience, so what are you waiting for?

Jake was extremely responsive and I was able to send him pictures of my issue over text. But we discovered my problem exceeded our current budget since we moved into our house recently. However, Jake did not end the call there like most people would when they heard they would not be getting paid. He talked to me and my wife for nearly half an hour on the phone and gave us so many great tips on how we could get the job done ourselves... along with the products we needed and where to get them. We were not actual clients of Southern Home Remodeling but they treated us like family anyways and we are extremely grateful.

After we purchased a home the shower leaked and destroyed our bathroom and adjacent bedroom. Southern Home Remodeling not only repaired the damage, they helped us redesign our bathroom and we now have our dream shower. They explained the process throughly, included pricing that included all the materials and shower fixtures, and since they were so through we did not have any change orders. I rarely provide personal recommendations however I highly recommend using Southern Home Remodeling.

My shower and bathroom were destroyed by a plumbing leak from another contractor. Southern Home Remodeling took time to listen to the whole situation and address all my questions as I didn't want to go through something like this again. They took me shopping for tile selection, were courteous of my awful work schedule, and sent me updated pictures by text. I'm so happy with my bathroom it makes me tear up when I walk in. Ugh, I wouldn't do it! Great talk up front and everything sounds good until you sign the contract and then "change order" become their favorite words. At the end it didn't work as they weren't able to fix the issues we found. It was a shame as it translated in additional headaches and costs to us. Also be prepared to do intensive cleaning afterwards. Adjacent rooms were a mess and we can still find fine dust to this day. I recommend going somewhere else!
