Went camping for the first time ever, and had a great experience, the park rangers were very insightful, and nice. The evening sky was beautiful! Definitely sparked a new hobby... lol, if you enjoy the outdoors, you will love it! Just careful with the bears...

The spot itself is great but the road is in pretty bad shape. It's passable with a 2WD vehicle, but it'll be a slow and uncomfortable experience. It took us an hour with our trailer.Cell service was 5 bars of 3G with ATT and T-mobile with a roof mounted Pepwave antenna. Speeds were around 2mbps down and 0.5 up.

Stayed here for 2 nights in mid November. It’s a great spot 15 mins from the main road. Can easily see the Milky Way at night as well as a spectacular silhouette of the Chisos Mountains at dawn/dusk. We didn’t have any neighbors at GH-2, so we had the lot to ourselves.

Incredible sunsets here. The neighbors are a gamble, still worth reserving these spots.

Awesome sites. These were super easy to access. Many 2wd sedans drove by on the way to the trailhead. I would say park warnings about trail conditions were overly conservative, but they are short handed on rescue crews.

Nice place to stay. The gravel road is horrible. Some traffic but not the worst. No one camped in site 3 next to us, if there had been someone there it wouldn't have been a very private spot. Beautiful view of the stars and sunrise/sunset. Don't know if I would pick this spot again but I'm pleased with it.

This one of the dispersed camping sites available by permit/reservation in Big Bend. You will have no hookups or anything other than a bear box which could come in handy if you are tent camping. The site is about 4 miles North of the main park road near Panther Junction in Big Bend National Park. From a location perspective, you are very centrally located within Big Bend. The only (but big) negative to this site is that Grapevine Hills Rd. is fairly heavily trafficked with people going to the Balanced Rock Trailhead. During our stay there were probably 30 to 40 cars a day up-and-down the road. Those cars definitely took away from a feeling of seclusion which is what many of us who try to boondock are looking for. It also contributed a substantial amount of dust to the outside and inside of our trailer when we had the windows open! Even though we enjoyed our 4 nights here in April 2021, I do not plan to camp at this site again.

After the first half a mile ish, the road is very rocky, you can do it in a 2WD car, just - slowly. Don't believe the "well maintained gravel road" description in the rec . Gov need to know. It's about 4 miles in and will take about 20 - 30 mins to get to, and my 2wd car has off road tires, and a fearless driver lol. No shade to speak of, and is shared, which means 2 sites share one space. Bonus is it is only 3 miles from Panther Junction, which has internet if need be or desired and the road to Chisos is maybe .5 a mile up. *From where the unmaintained rocky road intersects with the main paved one.

This was a beautiful campsite. It was a perfect location for a morning hike up to Balanced Rock. The sunrise and sunset here were spectacular. The site had no shade in the middle of the day. I was at first worried about the proximity to the other campsite, but our camp neighbors ended up being good company.

Basically a parking area in the flat desert for 2 adjacent campers. Not private. Cars go by on the way to a trailhead regularly. Centrally located and not as hot as lower elevation sites.

Stayed here while hiking the Balanced Rock. Not much to do around the immediate campsite but amazing views of the stars!

Rough road. Great dry camping otherwise.
