In June of 2018 my husband and I were looking at a house and had Guardian come out to inspect a chimney that obviously needed some repair before making an offer on the house.Brian came out, was very professional and promptly provided an estimate. We did end up purchasing the house.We called Guardian to come and do the repairs we talked about when the inspection was done.Brian arrived on time, was very personable and proceeded to complete the repairs. They took several days and included tearing down, and rebuilding the firebox, replacing the old cast iron damper, building a new chimney cap and, relining the chimney. Each day the mess was cleaned up and work seemed to be going well.There was a small delay aquiring firebricks but in the end they were procured and the fire box was completed. The liner was put in next and that seemed to go well.The next thing to happen was the installation of the top of the firebox. A flat stainless steel plate was installed. At the time I didn't think this would be a problem although my husband was concerned that the smoke would not be properly funneled out of the room.All of that was completed and all that was left was the custom chimney cap my husband and Brian had agreed on. We we're told this would be fabricated at the shop and would be installed later. I didn't realize that meant 8 weeks later. The job was paid for even though it wasn't complete and after several ignored phone calls it took posting about the delay on Facebook to get an answer from anyone.They ended up not being able to make the cap at all but did remedy the situation by having another company fabricate the cap and install it.Everything was great.... Until a few days ago when we tried to burn our first fire.The entire house filled with smoke, just like my husband thought it would due to the flat stainless steel plate on the top of the firebox.I called on Tuesday, no answer. Left a message. Haven't heard back yet, today is Friday. Left a message on Facebook messenger, got a reply that someone would get back to me....no one has.Called again today because now there is water leaking into the fireplace and got an answering service, left a message...no one has called me back.So here I sit. Listening to water dripping into my fireplace that we spent $6000 to repair that we can't burn anything in without our house filling with smoke.To say I am dissatisfied is an understatement.I'll update this review if I hear from anyone hopefully it's resolved.**Update**3/15/19Our fireplace is still not in working order after spending another $550 on waterproofing, that hasn't even waterproofed. We still cannot light a fire without smoke and embers floating into the house. Several failed attempts have been made at fixing it to no avail.I've now been trying to get a hold of someone for 5 weeks with no answer. This is the most frustrating part, I keep reaching out to them but no one will call me back.We've been so patient with this situation but honestly I'm just ready to give up and have to spend a ton of money to get this problem fixed.Unfortunately we've spent $6500 with Guardian and have no working fireplace in our den.
