We had an Allstate adjuster come out in 2011 for some tree damage to the roof, he saw we had damage from hurricane Ike. The adjuster started crunching numbers to see about getting us a new roof. He called Steve Hirsch from C&H Roofing. Between the two of them, they came up with whatever was mutually beneficial, which would have been fine if we got a good roof out of the deal. We went with C&H because we figured if the Allstate adjuster used them all the time, then they must be good.In 2015, only 4 years after the roof was installed, it leaked during the Memorial Day flood, in one place. By then, the 2 year labor warranty, was over. We weren't able to get it fixed at the time and the roof only seemed to leak when high winds accompany a storm.Then, last year during Hurricane Harvey, it leaked all over the place. The hvac system in the attic was covered with water. I called C&H Roofing but didn't get a call back. A couple weeks ago we had a storm and it leaked in one bedroom. This storm didn't have high winds. So now the roof is just leaking whenever it rains. Obviously it needs to be fixed and certainly before the next big storm.I called C&H, they did respond right away and someone came out to look at the roof to give us an estimate on fixing it. We haven't heard back from them.I filed a claim with Allstate. I didn't think Allstate would pay to repair the roof, but I needed an objective opinion about the condition of it.The Allstate adjuster said the shingles were in good shape but the installation was very poorly done. She pointed out several places where the construction was not correct and that many shingles were not tacked down properly. This is why when it's windy, the roof leaks. There are a lot of nails popping up. This is usual but the number of nail pops we have is beyond normal. She said there was a point where the apex of the roof running east/west doesn't connect properly to the apex of the roof running north/south, and this is probably were the major leaking on the hvac system happened.The roof isn't even 10 years old. The last roof we had made it through hurricane Ike and other storms without one drop coming in the house.I'm going to get several estimates on fixing the poor workmanship C&H left behind. Hopefully it won't be extensive or too expensive. I wouldn't use them again nor would I recommend them to anyone.
