Such a great company! They did our patio cover and it is everything we wanted and more!! Ryan is such a great guy. He was easy to get a hold of all the time which is really important to us! I called tons of other patio companies before his and they either never called us back or were very rude. I will totally use them again to do our outdoor kitchen!!

Ryan and A Step Above Remodeling and Restoration did a great job on several projects on our new home. He did our sod, a dog run fence and replaced our sink. He did a full fireplace remodel in our living room which looks outstanding! He also completed a covered patio for us! All of his projects turned out better than I could have imagined! Every city inspector that came by the house for the patio also commented on how great the quality of the work was. Not only does he do quality work, Ryan was personable with us, our son, and our dogs! His work really is A Step Above the rest!

I have to say that this was the best contractor we have ever worked with. We had a horrible experience with the contractor that did our pool and Ryan came in and put in a beautiful outdoor kitchen and patio cover. It is nice to do business with a quality company that takes the time to do things right instead of rushing everything and missing the details. Ryan treats you like family and takes pride in his work. He completely transformed the front of our house and we will most definitely be using A Step Above for future projects.

I STRONGY advise you to NOT use Ryan Moffit & A Step Above.We contracted Ryan in May of 2020 to build us a patio cover. Since, we have had nothing but problems & have found Ryan to be difficult & argumentative. Our problems stem from Ryan's poor management skills & QA practices with his subs.Our patio was completed in August 2020. A few weeks later we had a major leak in our bedroom. Ryan's guys were out to address & told us directly that the issue was from the brick & poor quality of the brick install. Ryan immediately & w/o visiting the site, stated that the leak had to be from somewhere else. His crew tore out much of the sheet rock in the bedroom, & directly communicated to us what they thought the issue was. Ryan still insisted that he had seen the brick, & it was not from his patio & brick work. Please note he never came himself to inspect.After the sheet rock was tore out, we could see the structural Lentil had been removed from over a window & not replaced. First Ryan argued this item was not necessary, he later argued that the brick was built of the second floor deck. We were able to clearly capture a photo of the brick wall free floating with no support. We hired a 3rd part inspector to come in & they documented 1) the need for this component of the house, & 2) the damage to the wall the removal of that item caused. Upon further argument, Ryan agreed to repair the brick. Stating it was bad mortar & that the brick sub should have put the Lentil back in. A new brick sub was then hired.From Sept of 2020 to Nov of 2020, Ryan's foreman Luis & the new Brick Mason worked on replacing the damaged brick & mortar in this area. They patch worked the damaged brick as best they could. They conducted multiple water tests, & in Nov of 2020 advised it was not leaking. We requested Ryan, Luis & the brick layer to conduct a test together. They would never come together to conduct one final test. Ryan never came to the site at all. Finally the brick layer advised it was not leaking. We again asked Luis & Ryan to confirm their satisfaction with the repair & examine it. Neither came for a final inspection after the Brick Mason. To this day the bedroom is still incomplete.Jan 10th 21 the patio leaked again. We contact Ryan immediately & again he insisted it is not related to his patio & was coming from the house. We asked to bring in someone else & Ryan stated "that was not gonna happen". An argument ensued & the call was ended. Ryan nor his foreman showed up the next day so we contracted an inspector again to take thermal images to confirm the location of the leak. The entire house was inspected for leaks & the only source was at the patio. The inspector also collected photos of the repairs to the brick above the patio & we were shocked. They caulked over the mortar in the brick joints, as well as installed multiple layers of flashing on flashing. The work done to remedy the first leak was craft malpractice.
