We stopped here for the showers after hiking Big Bend and heading up to Guadalupe Mtns! We paid $30 and we were able to car camp, shower, sit and charge up in the comfy common area, as well as star gaze in hammocks! Such a fun place to stay— I wish we could afford to stay in the actual accommodations that they have… and use the Dutch tubs. They looked amazing, but very much out of our price range.Safety: Car camped here and there weren’t any disturbances.Food & drinks: Ate at Angel’s Mexican restaurant and had coffee and brunch at Sentinel.Noteworthy details: Would consider to be an expensive option, but an amazing experience with amazing staff.

i have stayed here multiple times and recently stayed again. i love my stays here i feel safe and comfortable. i love that it’s a nice mix of indoor-outdoor. on my recent stay, i emailed to let them know i would be getting in late and they heated up my camper so it was nice and toasty when i got there in the freezing temps late at night! it was such a warm welcome! the bed was so comfortable in my camper. i was only passing through and was sad to leave the following morning, i look forwards to my next stay at El Cosmico :)

$30 was literally the biggest rip off I've ever paid for RV parking. You're in a gravel lot with no hookups, no dump, no shade, just park wherever, there is no campsite, not even so much as a table. The only offering was free coffee and access to a communal kitchen (but we have our our.... it's an RV I've been more comfortable in a Walmart parking lot. The tent camping looks really cute as do the cabins/ their RVs for rent.Do not stay here with an RV unless it's free.Walkability: Very close to things. Only thing it has going for it for an RV. It's NOT and RV campsite. It's a gravel lot.

I loved this place! It's sort of like camping, with tents and everything you need. I found it very charming. We visited in winter, and they provided us with a heating blanket to stay warm at night, which worked perfectly. You can see the stars at night, it's very close to Marfa's center, and the staff is very kind. They also have a wonderful lounge room with a fireplace where you can enjoy your evening. Plus, you can buy good beers or wine at a reasonable price. Absolutely recommended!

Thoroughly enjoyed the experience staying here! It was our first time staying in a teepee, in December no less! The propane firepit and heating pads on the beds kept it warm enough for us (we also slept in sleeping bags on top of the beds for extra heat). The shop is adorable, the staff are friendly, and the grounds are whimsical. It's located just off a busy street, so if you're a light sleeper like me, the constant sound of cars throughout the night made it challenging to sleep. I think next time, we'll stay in something that will buffer the sound of traffic!

Funky little place with a bunch of fun and nice people.I can only vouch for the parking lot, showers and main areas. We slept overnight in our van in the lot. It was quiet and parking was plentiful. You can do this and access El Cosmico’s hot showers and free coffee, which was awesome. Price seemed steep to park on a gravel lot on a weekend ($50) so we took extra long showers. Costs less during the week.Grounds were nice and rooms/cabin/trailers looked cool.

I did not actually stay here because came from Houston to Marfa on an RV road trip. We did stop by to check out the place for future knowledge and the staff was super friendly and helpful. The place is so cool looking with all of the different lodging options. You can stay in a huge teepee, an old school RV, cabin or your own tent. Was told at night it is very sociable. If I ever make that 10 hour drive again, I will absolutely be staying here.

Dust and pieces of hair on bed. Freezing day/night, wish they did more to prepare us or accommodate us.Safari tent was good at blocking the wind. Bed was warm and comfy.Overall did not enjoy my stay, was so exhausted all we had energy to do was sleep and leave.Definitely would love some type of partial refund, it was supposed to be a romantic wedding anniversary.Pictures hard to see hair but it was definitely not ours as mine is long and my husband is black, therefore would have been curly hair (not straight and short).Had an offensive picture of Jesus in the lobby, that was not appreciated.Noteworthy details: Mac gave me a full refund and offered to call and personally apologize, much appreciated!

Had a great time. I chose TeePee in December. The heated mattress was plenty good, and the pillows were soft. Had a twin bed to the side, queen bed, and a leather couch, 2 lamps and a propane fire pit which was really cool for the vibe. Just a little chilly getting up in the morning. Pro tip, put your clothes under the heated bedding with you night before. The grounds were very well kept and maintained. Just be aware going in, it is a *little* "roughing it", the outdoor plumbing freezes in winter (they have indoor facilities available), you have to wagon your stuff a bit in the high altitude, but the experience was well worth it. The stars were amazing. The staff was also amazing, very helpful with questions and nice, laid back. I was prepared to be a little let down by the coffee after seeing some of the glowing reviews, but it was all real talk. The cell service is good there. They have wifi, but I did not try it out. I plan to bring someone special back.

We stayed in one of their teepees and it has a propane burning fire pit and heated blankets. They were really needed because the temperature got down to 32F. Very cute property with a mixture of teepees, yurts and travel trailers. You can also pitch your own tent in the grassy open area. The restrooms are semi-enclosed. They're okay during the warmer months but not so desirable when it's cold.Highly recommended during the spring and fall since there's no air conditioning.

I wanted to like this place more. We stayed in our van but we had to keep it in the parking lot, which is on the other side of a fence, so you really don’t get the full experience of the place. There was a good deal of noise from people coming and going to their cars, and our curtains weren’t enough to block out the light of El Cosmico’s flashing sign. Just didn’t feel at all like camping, which is what we paid for. We hung out in our friends’ teepee for a bit which was pretty cool but the gas fire pit stinks like gas.

Stayed in a Safari Tent. Really appreciated the heating pad.Otherwise the experience was just alright, nothing magical as others have noted. I’ve camped in some beautiful remote spots so this spot, which is along a major road (bring ear plugs! They don’t have any to provide) wasn’t that impressive in regards to sights. That said, the location is ideal for sightseeing through the town of Marfa. We walked throughout the li’l town from El Cosmico ~ which was very welcome given our very long road trip to get here.Very family friendly, I woke up to kids loudly playing.Unsure of the reason for the additional fee for a dog given the awful goat head issue-my poor dog left limping, w/sore paws.I’m happy to have checked out this place that’s been on my Marfa To See list. That said, for the price I paid to stay in a tent, on a next visit I’ll be sure to stay at one of the cute accommodations in town instead.

I just went through some of the reviews and was confused as to why some guests experiences at El Cosmico were not great. Maybe they had unrelistically idealised the place? Perhaps some of them are city dwellers used to staying in 5 star hotels? Others might have thought they'd get a luxurious getaway for the price of an RV in the desert. But whatever their reasons, me and the wifey, who love the outdoors, will take an RV over a 5 star hotel, and much more enjoy the outdoors than the glamor of Vegas or New York, this little oasis in the desert was badass! Can't wait to attend one of the festivals they host there. Much love.

The magic of Marfa is felt most here in this remote but center spot. Perfect for disconnecting from reality. From the retro RVs to the teepee, tents and yurts, I can’t wait to share the magic of Marfa and the Cosmico with my family. Alfredo is one of the nicest men I have encountered here.

Definitely more run down than the last times I've stayed here and prices are outrageous! Accidentally broke the pour over coffee pot, told them, and still got charged 50$! Never again.

We stayed in a small trailer for 3 nights and overall enjoyed our stay. Staff were low-key and lovely, especially our check-in with the wise, accommodating Angie. The main building enhanced our stay: well-curated gifts, bathrooms, industrial sink, fireplace, cozy couches and EV chargers out front. The trailer itself was homey, albeit in need of some light maintenance. The same can be said for our outdoor bathroom, which had a non-functional light (that was eventually fixed) and some broken metalwork in the shower. Our shower is in need of a shelf to store toiletries, including the local shampoo and hair rinse they provide. (Tip: Bring a hanging caddy.) The grounds are cute but the path lighting at night is very hard to follow. We booked pricey Dutch hot tubs but they were canceled and refunded due to wind and chance of rain. They didn’t look very private anyway.El Cosmico is walking distance from most things in town, so if you’re looking for a very remote desert experience, perhaps wait for the new (and controversial) planned location. But if you’ve been hearing about this storied place for decades and you want to check it off your list, come and chill!

If there is a hell, the owners of this establishment will be forced to stay here forever. It was incredibly expensive for what was essentially a gravel lot with some UN tents and falling apart trailers. We got a trailer with heat since it was going to be a cold night but the heat barely worked and every window leaked cold air. This was just a massive con unfortunately.

We stayed here in March 2023 and were super impressed. They’ve managed to perfectly integrate an artsy retro vibe with outdoor adventure. Absolutely enjoyed the grounds and the commons space. The marfa community map they give you with local attractions was immensely helpful especially in letting us know which spots were dog friendly. We left here feeling quite inspired and would enjoy going back!

Our stay at El Cosmico was very good. The location is very cool. Night time is nice and quiet. The trailer we stayed in is a little run down. Windows don't open, light switches don't work, bulbs were burnt out, and the shower didn't work until I got out some tools and fixed up the diverted. It this didn't make the stay bad and was part of the charm, but it's something to keep in mind. The staff were all awesome.

We have a roof top tent and set up in the parking lot. The showers have great pressure and hot water and we enjoyed a wood fire hot tub at night (would recommend a reservation for the hot tubs. Each bathroom/sink area has Dr Bronner's peppermint soap.

I loved this place! My husband and I stayed in a safari tent in October and I will warn you, it gets SO COLD at night. The beds have a heated mattress pad on them and that helps but it’s still pretty chilly. I would totally do it again though! I loved the atmosphere of the entire grounds. It was truly magical! The food truck vendor was also really good, I had burger. They also had a little happy hour with good margaritas.
