We chose the Riata Inn based on reviews and price. It was clean, no frills, easy to find, tons of parking, etc ... It was perfect for what we needed. Everyone was friendly and helpful. This is not a fancy or high end place but we knew it wouldn't be. Bed was clean and comfy, bathroom was huge and bath towels were super white and fluffy. We planned on staying at Riata again to do more research on the Porvenir Massacre (which brutally took my husbands great great grandfather- if you don't know about this, look it up) but we decided to stay in another town just because. If you get a chance, drive over to Alpine. It's a pretty drive and then hit up Birria Kings food truck. Really, really good food and not weirdly bougie like some of the spots in Marfa seemed to be becoming. We actually chose to eat at DQ in Marfa instead of some of the other options which are being totally gentrified- was clean and good, locals work and eat there too! Don't forget to go to the viewing spot to see the Marfa Lights and DO go to the local Marfa museum and check out the USO hall/visitors center and walk to the top of city hall to get an awesome 360 degree view of Marfa!!

This was not the most expensive place in town nor the cheapest. I can tell you that the desk clerk was green, but kind. She did not seem trained well. You have to put your debit pin in at her computer. She did not know what the Marfa lights were. She was in charge of the place all night. The next morning we went to ask for a late check out in on of our rooms due to a business call that needed to be made. Check out at 11, if you are late 11:30 to 1 it is 40.00, after 1 it is a full night. I asked her to call her manager because it might be 12 no exceptions! So we were checking out of one of the rooms and at 6 till 11 someone pounded on our door to remind us that check out was at 11. We were out at 3 till. I let them know I did not appreciate it, I asked them not to disturb the other room, they looked at me like I was crazy.

I stay in a lot of hotels across the state for work and this one in particular is consistently clean, good beds, and good shower. I appreciate the gentle man at check in, very helpful and making sure i am settled in my room. I own a roofing company and work for a lot of the locals in town and they were the ones who originally referred me to stay here in town. For the best price in town you can not beat this hotel. Me and my guys will stay.D KelleyKELLEY R&R

Don't waste your bucks at a more $$ place. For a visit to the town of Marfa, this is perfect. Very clean, comfortable bed, hot shower, 2 person dining table, 3 person couch, comfortable enough temperature, parking right in front of the room. Very friendly host. Oh yes and a lounging mini swimming pool with a few seats around it. Plenty of space to walk the dog. Not a whole lot of space for a big rig though but yes for someone with an RV or boat. Located near the edge of town but the town is not that big so you'll still get to your dinner spot in 2 minutes. My only complaints are the very loud AC unit that needs to run the whole time you're sleeping (much white noise) and the towels that would never fit anyone larger than average size. Would recommend the place for anyone in town for the night. Does have wifi. You would prob drive to other nearby places rather than walk. Rooms do have mini frig. Pet fee only $20. Food truck is available in the am. Didn't eat there but menu looks great and it looked fairly busy?

The room we stayed in was recently refurbished with new flooring, new air conditioner, retitled shower stall. Plumbing had good pressure and all worked well. Sheets and one towel were a bit rough. Generous supplies: got 2 tubes of shampoo, 2 tubes of conditioner, 6 mini soap bars (which were kinda hard). The room seemed like it was missing an entertainment center with a chest of drawers. The microwave was super tiny, just enough for a small plate of food. The room was clean, but whoever turned the room musty have been in a rush as they missed the food in the microwave and a shirt in the wardrobe. It was a nice western shirt and although it was my size, I turned it into the office. 😄Also, they have glamping cabins that look new. I think I will try that next time.

The Riata Inn is a really nice place to stay while you're visiting Marfa, Balmorhea, Terlingua, Presidio, and the Big Bend area. The rooms are spacious, immaculately clean, and equipped with a large flat-screen TV and all the Direct TV channels. There's a large walk-in shower, microwave, and refrigerator in the room, and the air conditioning is excellent. You park your car right in front of your room, and downtown Marfa is just a minute away. You'll find all kinds of coffee, soft drinks, and treats in the office, and Gene, your host, will do everything possible to make your stay as memorable as it is enjoyable. All in all, the Riata Inn is a terrific, reasonably priced place to stay in Marfa. You'll be happy you chose to stay here!

Great hotel and excellent price. I really recommend Riata Inn Marfa, have big rooms, and they are pet friendly. Well, (I was driving to Mexico with my two dogs) , a good TV side, a great view of Marfa lights and walking distance to Marfa restaurants. Quiet rooms. Friendly staff. I mean, seriously, who is going to pay more than $200 per night in those hotels in Marfa where they are not pet friendly, small rooms, and some of them they have sharing bathrooms. Every time that I'm driving down to Mexico, I will stay in Riata Inn... plus a lot of pillows! No complaints at all! Thank you! 😊

The spacious room was reasonably clean and tidy. You don't have many choices in Marfa, so this one is a contender. I liked the view from the porch and the easy access to parking...right in front of the door. The pool was empty, though that didn't matter at all to us. The price for this hotel was higher than expected. For the same price in any other town you'd get so much more, but that's how it is in Marfa.

Had a fantastic experience here. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Due to inclement weather, we had to check in late (around midnight) and staff was incredibly helpful. Rooms are much bigger than anticipated and very clean. If you are staying in town look no further.Rooms: Spacious and clean.Nearby activities: Marfa lights viewing area about 5 miles away.

These beds were so comfortable. Not like name-brand hotels where you sink in and then you can't sleep at night and wake up with your body aching. Very clean room. Some places are still dusty because they aren't as booked, but we would stay again. Came down to see the Marfa Lights. They do however, only provide free coffee and ice. Still good place to stay. It was a little pricey. We paid close to 180 after taxes fo a King room. I expected at least some kind of snacks or donuts for breakfast for that price.Rooms: Very clean and very comfortable bedFood & drinks: Only offer coffee and ice

Stopped by here a few weeks ago as I was taking my senior pup on one last big road trip (hes alright! Just getting arthritis and would rather spend his evenings sleeping on a couch than hiking in the desert). The staff was great and so friendly. The room was clean and spacious. While its not the most walkable, you'd be hard pressed to find a better location to tour around Marfa. And the sun sets are one of a kind!I'm really grateful to the whole Riata crew, thanks from me and my old pup Red. (For dog owners! Call before you get there. They have some breed specific rules to take into consideration)

To be honest it was not a good experience. The guy who checked me in had a real attitude problem, which made me feel unwelcome. The room was the closest to the street, so it was very noisy. Plus the heater started making a real loud clacking noise in the middle of the night. So I got a horrible night's sleep. But the biggest problem was the motel making me feel as if my business was not wanted. I would not recommend this place. There are plenty of other options in Marfa. STAY AWAY!

The manager was very nice. The facility was very clean. The rooms are large. Pets are welcome. It is quiet. It is located 1 minute from downtown Marfa. I was going to stay 2 nights but ended up staying 9 nights. I stayed at the property in 2021 and will not stay anywhere else in Marfa in the future. The owner is a very nice man and I am happy to support a local instead of giving my money to hard-nosed out of towners who run the most of the local Airbnb's. If you're looking for budget friendly, quiet, clean, spacious where you can have your pet with you, Riata Inn is the place to stay!

Great space for kids and dogs! We enjoyed our sultry at the Riata. The service was great! They were kind and responsive to our requests. We had our kids and dogs with us and there was plenty of space in the room for all of us. Great outdoor area for taking the dogs out. We could not have asked for more. A quick drive into town and a very reasonable rate.

This place is awesome. The gentleman at the counter was so accommodating and nice, great customer service. Got me right in and let me go in early. Pet friendly with my service dog. Great parking for my truck and trailer. And wow is the room big and awesome. Bed is big and comfortable. Nice leather couch. Micro and fridge. A++++ Will definitely return if and when I’m driving through next time.

Amazing stay! We got in very late (2 a.m.) and the staff made our check-in no hassle. They were very kind and the rooms were HUGE!! They were clean, comfy and the area was so quiet. I was very impressed with the kindness of other guests as well. We will definitely stay again. The hotel is less than 5 minutes from downtown and around 10 from the marfa lights viewing area!

Brenda in the front desk was awesome but the owner needs to fix the motel rooms, like; the drawers, one of the drawers has no bottom and we couldnt use the drawers, no chair to the desk or a drawer. The housekeepers need to learn to clean better if the want tips. I got 2 rooms and trash was left in them dirt in the drawers. Floor was dirty, not been swept putting tissue box on top of wet counter. Good place too stay but the price for this was not worth it. Please fix your rooms then maybe the rooms would be worth $200. Lucky I stayed but I will not stay there again. Marfa, TX is a joke their stores and restaurants were way to high and nothing was open. The best place I saw in Marfa was the cleanest and organized Dollar General. 100% impressed with DG. and the employees. Marfa lights were not what we expected. My myth for the lights is headlights off of vehicles coming down the highway.
