Two roofs done twelve years ago leaked. Identified poor "current" quality when I went on our recent roof installation and found incomplete tar paper placement as shingles were being nailed. Starr project lead/sales person told me not to be concerned about gaps in tar paper as purpose of tar paper is to prevent roofers from slipping. ***Until I started complaining their customer service was excellent, now they have stopped responding after written quality feedback about leaks. *** Wish them luck with regaining control over quality ethics and skills provided by their subcontractors.General Suggestion:Based on my recent experience, my suggestion for dealing with any roofing company is to NOT share the insurance estimate as roofer will estimate right up to that insurance company estimate.First get a bid from at least two roofers, then see how that lines up with the insurance estimate and perhaps get some upgrades within the insurance estimate. Also, confirm quality of material being placed on roof by the company as defined in the roofer estimate and compare between estimates. Roofers may be below the insurance estimate if they don't see the estimate. Probably no savings to you, but to "your" insurance company. So save money for your insurance company, or make the roofer happy.Last, but not least, if you are able, get up on the roof to see what is happening. Very professional! Jay showed up when he said he would to do the estimate. He told us we were two weeks out for his scheduling. When he had a brief window open up in his schedule he fit us in early. The crew showed up on time, were very professional, courteous while they were here, they wore masks the entire time (Covid-19 precautions), finished the job quickly and cleaned up after completion. Supposed to have replaced screws and repair leaks. Roof leaked again in same area and they looked at it and said screws need to be replaced again even on the roof cap that was removed and reinstalled. Did not use larger screws as indicated and the roof cap screws have already loosened up less than a year after repairs. Would not warranty work or fix what was supposed to have been done the first time. Would not recommend or even use again. They also repaired neighbors shingles at the same time and they have also blown off again. 0 for 2. Shoddy work and doesn’t back it up.Service: Roof repair
