(edited to fit Google's requirements) Two stars because they sorta completed the work and are good at working with USAA. I’ve been considering this review for a few weeks now as the 2-4 day job proposed in September 2023, started in December and only just finished in February 2024. Those three calendar months encompassed about 28 work days, give or take. First and foremost- do NOT grant permission to their very efficient collections department to cash checks before the work is done. Most insurance companies will issue the check in their and the homeowner name. This is your only leverage over these irresponsible people and seemingly the only motivation for them to complete your work. The BM estimators are good at working with USAA (and I presume other companies) to get a fair, not over the top estimate. We combined that with a good chunk of our own cash to have our old, water-damaged, customized kitchen modernized and re-done. At no time during any of the days of work did a Blackmon Mooring project manager (we had three, plus a “construction manager” who followed one another) appear to supervise or communicate with the workers or sub-contractor project manager, who became the default boss. This leaves the home owner in the position of being a supervisor and each day becomes a “can we leave now - fix this first - can we leave now?” Game.No information on preparation, what would occur (I see now because there wasn’t much of a plan to start with), or how to maintain or use the final products were offered. Since they apparently used the least kitchen-friendly paint available a handout or advice on how to clean would be helpful. Several times I asked the sub-contract project manager - what if I was 80 or more disabled and couldn’t - buy and install our own hardware, buy and cut concrete bricks to lift the oven since the cabinets weren’t built to standards, have tools the workers could use since they didn’t always have the right ones… - few answers were available. We know now (from the 3d BM project manager after the fact) that several estimated tasks weren’t completed and working to recover the funds for that to us or USAA.I am attaching 3 photos to this review to highlight some of the problems we had with this work. All three are from one corner of the small kitchen two opposing counters in a galley style kitchen. The flooring was already installed. The first, at the top, shows the mess they left after improperly designing the upper cabinets and destroying the hand installed crown molding they promised to leave up. They didn’t even bother to sand off the glue left in the ceiling board after we grudgingly allowed them to keep working after the destruction (we thought it would speed up completion - oops). Also, note the white edge next to wall. That is supposed to black but since the cabinet makers didn’t prime at least that part properly, it was was easier to blend the chipping edge with the wall than the cabinet. Next is the edge where the counter top hits the wall and backsplash. I’ll fix this in the future - one among many of - I see it but get out of the house and let us back in. Lastly is where the cabinet meets the floor. I had to buy and install the molding since they ripped the old one off and left the unpainted wall behind it. Rather than schedule yet another day for a different crew to return when we realized this, I just fixed it. But It’s indicative of the cavalier way they approach their work. So, to summarize, Blackmon Mooring completely abdicated their responsibly for this revovation. If you use them, be deeply involved in the design process and expect them to take the worst shortcuts and do the absolute minimum to finish the job. Don’t give permission to cash joint checks until you are satisfied with the work. Better yet, find an honest, competent crew with a designer and trained project managers who you can work with.

Avoid if at all possible.Initially, we were matched with Daniel Lopez as our project manager in January. We were told this was a 2 month job max. Things started out well, we explained what we wanted done to our home (replace cabinets, floors, countertops and repaint), picked out all the materials and then after a few weeks, our project manager refused to take our calls and always had an excuse for why he could not come out to our home to make the repairs we had agreed upon.Eventually, we were passed off to another project manager who had no handoff of knowledge from Daniel. We had to start the entire process over again. Daniel Lopez personally wasted 2 months of our time. After signing paperwork in January and picking everything out by early February, we were unable to begin work until mid March. The scheduling and coordination of work done at our house was extremely poor. There were multiple weeks where no work was being done at our house, multiple days wasted redoing work due to improper sequencing, and an overall poor quality of work. The wrong kitchen island was ordered which caused a 2 week delay for them to submit an order for the proper island that we had agreed upon. Finally, at the end of April, the house was in a state that we could at least move back in. The quality of work done by BMS was laughably poor, but we needed to move back into the house to welcome our first child.BMS tried to force us to accept the house in it's incomplete and shoddy state. They even went so far as to file a lien against our property when we refused to remit final payment for an incomplete job. We had to get the General Manager out to our house to see for himself how incomplete the house was. He agreed the job was incomplete and we were able to finally get the crew back out to our house to complete the remaining items.Shane Walls almost blew up our house because he tried to reinstall the gas stove himself instead of having a professional reinstall it.The refrigerator was improperly reinstalled causing a water leak that ruined a portion of our new floors. We were matched with BMS through insurance and had no choice but to go with them. If you have a choice, steer clear. If also you're forced to go with BMS, avoid any interaction with Daniel Lopez or Shane Walls. Unprofessional doesn't begin to describe the ordeal we went through. The GM, Chuck, was courteous and helped to right the ship, but a 2 month job took more than 9 months start to finish.Save yourself the hassle.

Everyone that I came in contact with from right after the accident happened until wrapping up my repairs was great. Professional, positive and kept me informed through the whole process. No one wants to deal with home repairs after an accident or emergency but we got through it and I'm very happy with our results. Thank you!

Blackmon Mooring really hung in there with us over a tough period. We had significant damage after the hailstorm in September including our entire roof, an outbuilding, awning, and large deck cover. We are very pleased with the work done. I especially appreciated the communication from Shane Walls. After I let him know this was important to me, he made a point to text and email with progress and schedules.

This company finally completed our home. It appears the company lacks organization and continuity. On several occasions during this project, we had three and four contractors who came out to do the same job but finally the work was done. After the work was completed our house looks professionally done. Finally, It is imperative that when an appointment is made with the homeowner, that appointment is honored and you keep the homeowner informed.

Experienced water damage that led to replacing flooring, Sheetrock and water heater closet repairs. This company was dispatched by my insurance company, and from day one they have been communicative, helpful, and patient with me. The subcontractor they used - 123 Flooring - was amazing. Excellent quality work and very much have the customer’s satisfaction in mind. They really made this very stressful experience easy and I couldn’t be more pleased.

We deeply regret using this company for our remodel after the March 2022 Round Rock, TX Tornados . The remodel quality was subpar on numerous items throughout the exterior and interior and we are basically left feeling cornered into accepting what they could do or tack on extended time to an already 7 month process. The fence work was poorly done, we know because we saw them man onsite not digging 18 in holes for the posts, some are less than 12 inches deep. We were told this was due to there being rock in the ground (well yes.. this is texas) and we assumed how they got to the 18 inches was their problem to solve not ours. We arrived one day to see a newly installed floor, but no idea who picked the color, as we were never involved in that selection process. The kitchen cabinets are already peeling and one of the doors was not a match to the rest and the excuse we got there was they were discontinued (again how is this the clients problem to solve). They have at week 3 started peeling as well. The paint and patch work in the interior was ghastly... several spots not even finished. The windows were replaced but guess cleaning out the broken shards between the panes was too much to ask on a 100K estimate for work because those are still there. We still have pending items that we are told will be resolved but we haven't seen anyone onsite (we were given green light to move back in so we did) in the almost 3 weeks we've been home. I requested meeting with general manager but that also hasn't been scheduled, they just keep sending the same project manager to assist us, and frankly we don't feel like its our job to tell them what's un finished... its very clear and we have provided photos and done 2 walk through's. DO NOT use Blackmon Mooring if you need extensive work done. At this juncture about the only thing we are grateful to them for, was the tarp they threw on the roof the day after the storms... may be about the only thing that didn't require rework on their part (not even kidding). We cancelled the remaining work on the exterior and have asked for a final punch list... thats also taken about 3-4 weeks and counting...Services: Remodeling, Roofing, Flooring, Water damage-related cleanup & repair, Painting

Don’t give your business to these intrusive ambulance chasers. The night we had a house fire, they were there by midnight trying to sell us their services. The fire fighters had just left. The next morning, before we even woke up, they were knocking on our door, waking us up and our animals. Two flyers and two visits later, I finally caught them pulling up today and told them to stop coming. This practice is scummy. Firstly, folks aren’t ready that early - in the moment - to field this. Follow up in the mail if you must. You have my address because you’re clearly listening to the fire scanner to chase these houses. It’s harassment. Stay away from this business and tell them to bugger off if they tornado chase their way to your unfortunate disaster.

We recently had BMA do repairs on our house after a fire. Jackson was assigned as our project manager, and he was very professional and prompt in communication the entire time. Overall took longer than expected, but that was no fault to BMA. The repair itself looked really nice and the entire process was very smooth Thanks to Jackson and his team.

We were very pleased with the restoration from water damage that Blackmon Mooring provided. They were professional, timely and the work done was seamless. You can’t tell they were here! Our home is over 30 years old so old ceilings and walls can be a challenge. Our contractor; Elias Valerio, was courteous and informative. He coordinated all reconstruction work to be done and kept us informed. We are very pleased with the finished job. I highly recommend Blackmon Mooring.Thank you,Mary HallServices: Water damage-related cleanup & repair, Painting

I wish there was a way to give them a minus star rating! We had a pipe break at our home on Christmas day that flooded our home making it unlivable. Our insurance company hired Blackmon Mooring to handle the “Pack out/Pack in”. They took nearly 3 weeks to pack all of the stuff out our 1300 sq. ft house! Those are 3 very long weeks when you are living in a hotel with a very disabled 90-year-old who is in great pain because she doesn’t have access to her adjustable bed. Not to mention that NO work can begin until everything is out of the house. When they were done I found that they had punched a large tear in my screen door with what looked like a box that fell or maybe a piece of furniture. They also couldn’t figure out the concept of undoing a necklace clasp I guess so they pulled my necklace organizer out of the wall leaving a giant hole in the wall in my closet.Once all of the work was complete and they were to start the “Pack in” process, the truth of their ineptitude was made clear. Piece by piece and box by box the damage to our belongings is shocking! It is like they have absolutely no concept of what or how to pack items or if they do they simply don’t care. For instance, it looked as if they had taken and simply held a box at one end of a table and took their arm and swept everything from the surface into the box. Then went to another area and did the same thing into the same box, and for good measure found another area and threw that in there too. I have broken bottles of paint and liquid gold leaf spilled all over broken & crushed artist brushes, scissors punching holes in lotion bottles, etc.But that is just how they pack boxes. My precious antique furniture had absolutely NO protection, and heavy items stacked on top of them. My painted furniture is scratched, chipped, dented and in one case so badly scrapped up that I am going to have to completely repaint the entire bed. My sofa has grease marks on it from who knows what. But by far their worst offense has to be what they did to my extremely expensive mattress that I had specifically asked them about and said how concerned I was about what and how it was going to be stored and treated/packed due to my severe allergies. When it came back to the house it looked as if it had been kept behind the dumpsters and the homeless were allowed to sleep on it. There are deep dark footprints all over it. The back looks as if it had been scrapped across a rough wooden surface, and there is BLOOD on it! As if someone had slept on it and had a bloody nose! The box spring also has tears, footprints and dirt.My 3-yr-old mattress was in pristine condition and cost $8000! They feel like they only owe me to replace the cover and nothing else. They sent out one of their upper management personal, Mike Diaz (sp?) I’m not sure how to spell his name because he refused to give me a card when he was running away like a little girl when the conversation got a little difficult, not heated, just difficult. He refused to answer any questions saying that “he wasn’t prepared to have that conversation”. That was his answer to my question of if this was his mattress what would he expect, and would he want to be sleeping on it in the condition it was returned to me in? He proceeded to tell me that he wasn’t prepared to have that kind of conversation and that I was unreasonable. He was running away so fast to his car that he couldn’t get away fast enough. This is how they provide customer service! This company took an already stressful situation and made it so much worse. With about 80% of the boxes unpacked and all of the furniture (with the exception of my Grandfather clock that is still at their warehouse) back in the house, I would estimate that they have caused around $11,000 in damage to my property (and counting).Do you want to know the best part? They actually charged my insurance company $34,000.00 to do this job! You read that right $34k for a 1300 square foot house! Unbelievable!

If I could give them zero stars I would. They did a great job of doing nothing. There employees are worthless and management is even worse. Stay away. They did even more damage to my house during remediation and wrecked my furniture.

Blackmon Mooring replaced my roof for an insurance claim. I worked with Dylan and Pete, both of whom were helpful with getting me through the process of replacing my roof. They got my roof replaced quickly and professionally. Watch out for added payment at the end that they tell you the insurance will cover, but then is not covered.Updating this back to 5 stars. Blackmon Mooring's work on the roof was fantastic. What everyone needs to know is that they may add a line item to their estimate that is used for additional costs that are not part of the initial estimate. This was not made clear to me until I received the paperwork to signoff on the cost for the repair, which was more than the estimate. I was told that this was part of the estimate and approved by the insurance adjuster and not to worry. I was only given the initial estimate amount from the insurance company and paid Blackmon Mooring that amount. After some back and forth, I was informed that the insurance company will not pay the extra amount and that I am responsible for paying that off. I made the payment to Blackmon Mooring and contacted my insurance company to find out why this happened. After a few days of calls and emails with my insurance, I was able to get an answer that the adjuster made a mistake.TLDR - If the cost of the roof after repair is more than the estimate, double check with both Blackmon Mooring and your insurance company to make sure the cost is covered.Service: Roofing

Dealing with the aftermath of a bad storm can leave you feeling lost. That's when the service from folks like Pete A. and his team at Blackmon Mooring really stands out. From the get-go, Pete showed a clear understanding of what needed to be done. He thourghally checked out the storm damage and took his time to explain what repairs were needed. His calm approach was a comfort during a pretty messy situation, and made the whole recovery process seem doable. What really set Pete apart, though, was the amazing work his team did. They got to the repairs with a level of dedication and skill that was just top-notch. The end result was fantastic. They didn't just fix my place up, they also gave me a sense of relief. In a line of work where you need to be able to rely on people, Pete and his team at Blackmon Mooring really set a high standard. They're all about good service, paying attention to the small stuff, and always being professional. I wouldn't think twice about recommending them. If you need help with storm damage, definitely check out Blackmon Mooring. I promise you won't be let down!Services: Flood restoration, Water damage-related cleanup & repair

October 30, 2022 we experienced an electrical fire in the attic and a few days later a hailstorm ruined our roof. We expected frogs to start falling from the sky! To tackle this restoration we selected Blackmon Mooring, Round Rock in cooperation with our insurance company USAA. Coordination between Blackmon Mooring and us was excellent. The project lasted five months. A bit long for us. Fortunately, we were able to remain in the house during the project. The most impressive crew cleaned and removed the smoke smell from the vents and house. Our most disappointing aspect of the project was the removal of all items in the garage and their placement into a portable container without access for five months. A special recognition for Pete our coordinator at Blackmon Moorin for doing a five-star job working with the subcontractors on the project.Service: Fire damage cleanup & repair

We used Blackmon Mooring for hail damage roof and privacy fence repair. I appreciate the professionalism of Pete as the Project Manager. Pete kept us informed, actively listened to our requirements and maintained a high level of quality control. My wife and I were very pleased with the result and the service provided. If the circumstances happened again, we would definitely use Blackmon Mooring and by name request Pete.Service: Roofing

I worked with these guys for an insurance claim. My entire 2 story house had flooded due to a plumbing issue. There are a few issues I had with working with Blackmon Mooring listed below. The people under this project that I worked with were Shane Walls, Dylan Broido under the "supervision" of Daniel Lopez.1. They don't know how to manage a project. Items to be fixed where scheduled very slowly and passively and it was very hard to get concrete dates from these folks. Items very grossly serialized in terms of scheduling when multiple things could have gone in parallel. For example I had two restrooms that needed to be fixed, the items for the second bathroom were not even ordered until the first restroom was fully finished. This shows clear lack of planning and project management.2. Even when work to be done was completed the quality of the work done by the sub-contractors under Blackmon Mooring was terrible. I have many examples of this but ones that come to mind:- The tiling work done on my bathrooms looked like it was done by a 2 year old, thick grout lines everywhere that didn't match previously existing tiling work. I also had a circular drain in the master shower and the way the tiles were cut to fit that shape gave me nightmares.- In the guest bathroom the window in the bathroom was ceiled shut by grout.- There was a light that needed to be fixed in my kitchen. This took months to get fixed because the sub-contractors who did the drywall work has created a hole for the wrong kind of light (a puck light) in the ceiling. It took months for them to schedule this to get fixed and even when the hole was finally patched up there were cracks in the paint everywhere. Then when the light was installed the sub-contractor that installed the light created a hole in the kitchen ceiling next to where the light was supposed to be installed.- During the drywall work the sub-contractors decided to mess with my front door lock. They took apart the front door lock and lost the latch to open and close the dead bolt. When I told the contractor about this Shane just shrugged and told me the fix was not in the "scope" of work" even though this damage was clearly done by the sub-contractors he hired.- I had a faucet in the master bathroom that needed fixing and it took forever to schedule to fix this. The issue was that when the water was turned off it look a few seconds of delay for the water to completely come to a stop. When I brought this up to Shane I was gas lighted many times and told "it's just air". Shane himself couldn't fix it and finally scheduled the plumber. Once finally scheduled the issue was not fixed at all and I was told that the sink was filled up twice to prove that it was working. How does filling up the sink show that the faucet is working as expected. These are just some items, I am sure if I had the time I could probably list out 100 more.3. Putting aside the quality issues with the items in #2, the issue was that since the work wasn't getting done right the first time they would have to try to re-schedule the same sub-contractors multiple times to come back and do things the right way. The amount of time between scheduling things was anywhere from weeks to months.4. Many times there was an excuse of "item is not in the scope of work" for clear damages that were caused by the work the sub-contractors had done. The door issue mentioned in #2 is one example of this. Another example is that I had a hole in the ceiling of my garage where a light needed to go. The ceiling was put in new by the drywall folks and they had got a hole for where the light was supposed to go. Shane refused to fix this.5. My front yard and backyard were destroyed by the drywall and tiling sub-contractors hired. They would poor leftover grout and cement all over my front lawn and backyard. This is just unacceptable.

After some water damage in the kitchen, our insurance had BM come in for water and mold remediation. They did a great job that we decided to go with them for the kitchen damage restoration as well. Very unpleased with Blackman Mooring service. Our house had a fire 9 months ago today. I have no idea of a completion date and I've been asking for months. Last I heard from them 10 days ago they were going to do w a walk thru and if it was 50 % done then they wanted a payment. After 9 months and not 50% done??? I highly recommend to NOT use Blackman Mooring!!!

This company is the worst! I see now why they have a 3.5-star rating. They have been dragging their feet for four months (May 2022) on my girlfriend's bathroom repair. Probably going to keep the insurance money and hire someone else. They have a new service manager named Shane. This guy hardly responds to her messages. When he does, it is a week or two later. He has no idea what he's doing. I get it if you are busy, but communicate! I'm sorry, but this job should've been completed within two months. I'm in the service industry and know that communicating is so important. If you hire these people, be prepared for it to take 4-6 months, if not longer, with no communication. You've been warned!

These guys are working on a house next to mine and they kept blocking my driveway. I took this picture after the 2nd time it happened . I can't speak to their quality of work but they were rude when I asked them to move both times! Furthermore, if they treat other people this way then I'm sure you can infer how they treat their customers.
