HandyMensch redid the supports for our overhead screened-in porch (over concrete patio from walk out basement). They handled all the aspects of the job: the engineering design for new supports, going thru the permitting process and doing the actual project. In beginning, I met with Lenny’s team, including an engineer to discuss what we were hoping to have done on the project. The team listened to us on how we wanted to keep the concrete patio space open as possible - the engineering design met our goals. Communications were suburb - the team provided weekly status updates of accomplishments for that week and what was expected for following week as they constructed the new foundations and supports for the overhead screened-in porch. We liked how the team, when pouring the concrete for the foundation, got it flushed with the existing concrete patio. With supports along edge of the patio, we retain the open space of the concrete patio under the porch for enjoyment of backyard activities. We recommend HandyMensch for anyone doing patio/decking work.

I had a dream for the last few years of having a bar in my basement. I spent a significant amount of time struggling to find companies with experience building bars. While I found companies that did renovations and a few of them had experience building bars, most preferred to take on larger projects than mine and also gave unbelievably expensive quotes. Fortunately Handy Mensch, led by Lenny Berger was recommended to me. I met with Lenny, and he had some great ideas and recommendations and was willing to take on a smaller project like mine. Lenny and his team guided me through the project, connected me with a designer and together we planned a bar layout with cabinetry that resulted in a design that matched what I was looking for and also provided me with a 3D rendering of what the finished bar would look like. Once I greenlighted the project, Handy Mensch took over and assigned a project manager, Sean to oversee the construction. They built the bar from scratch in our basement and used an incredible carpenter along with tile and counter artisans. Sean was always available and there most of the days which gave me a great conduit for questions and concerns. The bar came out better than I could have imagined and became not only a great entertainment hangout but also an oasis during the pandemic as I could hang out at my bar, pouring a draft of a great beer and enjoying life. They saved us 25% by retaining and refacing many of the existing cabinets but you would never know it by the kitchen now. Lenny and his team did a fabulous job with our Master Suite remodel, despite uncovering some challenges from when the space was originally constructed that needed rectified and which prolonged the project a few weeks. Malisa and the design team helped us create a beautiful space and assisted substantially in our choices of materials, which were all top-notch. The demolition crew was quick, hard working, and efficient. Geoff, Tom, Antonio, and numerous other tradesman were exceptional in the quality of their work - and beyond that, were always kind, courteous, and helpful - Tom and Geoff especially were wonderful men. Sean and Brette were helpful in coordinating change orders and resolving punch list items after the majority of the project was completed. We utilized HandyMensch for a full remodel of two small-ish bathrooms. This included moving of walls and plumbing. HM was very knowledgeable and transparent about the process, what would work or wouldn't work, and generally just helpful in working through what was a substantial remodel (at least for us). The quality of work was great, and any minor changes that we identified / wanted they were very responsive on and quick to update. For example, there was an instance where we wanted a change to the direction of tile relative to how the tilers had put up a portion of tile in one bathroom. We were able to work with the project manager who worked with the tilers to make the change quickly and efficiently. Our project manager was just incredibly nice and helpful throughout the process, and was quick to respond and help us with anything along the way. HM was also very transparent with respect to anticipated timing, and were able to complete the work in accordance with that outlined timing. Overall we were very happy with our experience with HM and would definitely use them again in the future.Service: Remodeling

We needed a master bathroom remodel, so we solicited a few bids. HandyMensch was not the cheapest bid, but we knew that we should go with Lenny because he carefully thought through our unique situation (a very narrow bathroom from the 90s) and clearly articulated our options. We made the right choice. Lenny and his team carefully managed the entire project from start to finish. The entire project ran like clockwork, no significant glitches or delays. We've seen our friends deal with absolutely disastrous renovations, so we are very happy that we didn't have to deal with any of that. And we are thrilled with the final outcome. HandyMensch recently completed a remodel of our master bathroom, and it looks fantastic. The quality of work is outstanding. The employees were a pleasure to have around. Very trustworthy. Many times we left them in our house unattended and felt safe doing so. We've had countless contractors in our house over the past decade and this is the first time my wife has said that she did not mind having contractors around! We interviewed and received quotes from two competing companies. Lenny's was a little higher than the others. The reason we went with Lenny is that he was the most thoughtful when it came to making really good recommendations for our renovation. He was also the most detailed oriented when it came to his proposal. My wife and felt like his company would do the best job and they certainly exceeded our expectations.

I had some concerns because of water damage that happened (the reason for the remodel) and Lenny, Rob and his team were very attentive to my concerns and provided some great customer service. I hired HandyMensch Remodeling to replace three 6x6 supporting posts under my deck and house expansion. The job was done fast. After finishing, they left everything clean, and the workers were friendly. Lenny Berger was very nice to talk to and work with as he explained the process and what the job entailed. There were no unexpected problems, or even expected problems. Everything, and every detail, was put back in place as it was originally found, except for the abandoned birds nest. Lenny also explained things to do to prevent future problems. He visited the site to make sure the workers were doing the work properly and to assess if there were any problems. There were none. Handy Mensch Home Remodeling completed a new deck for us in January 2021. Our original deck was built without flashing between the house and deck, which caused a leak in our ground floor basement. After searching unsuccessfully for solutions and contractors for months, we found Handy Mensch and had to look no further. Lenny visited our home and explained in detail why the solution to our problem would be to build a new deck, install flashing and correct any areas of water damage. He was very patient and informative, and explained each step of the process in detail. The timeline for the project was clearly defined, and an introduction to Sean, the project manager, was made. Scheduling, start dates, milestones, and estimated completion dates were explained. We were impressed with the knowledge, timeliness, professionalism and communication of both Lenny and Sean, as well as the skills and workmanship of rest of the team. Sean was available for questions throughout the process and gave us updates on the team’s progress.Lenny wrote very detailed work orders, that included all the information that we spoke of during his initial visit and other conversations. The workers were very respectful of limiting access to areas of the house during COVID, as we requested, which was very reassuring. They worked efficiently and thoroughly without delays. Sean was at the site each day to give direction, communicate progress to us and make sure that everything went smoothly. He also gave us updates during each step of the county permit approval and inspection process, as well as the final inspection by the county of the completed deck.The workmanship and final deck are a very high-quality build and the problem of the water leak into our basement was resolved. We are very happy with the design of our new deck and we look forward to using it. Handy Mensch also repaired the damage to our basement drywall, and they painted the ceiling and walls of the family room and hallway so that the repairs are seamless and not visible.Once the work was completed, all debris from construction and demolition was removed promptly from our property, and Sean walked us through a final inspection. Since we were very happy with the work and smooth process of our deck project, we have decided to have Handy Mensch do two additional improvement projects in our home, and others in the future. Took over 8 contractors who would not take the job due to it's complexity to find Lenny. This is his niche- he comes in and fixes issues too complex for the average company which also means he can create amazing spaces with what you currently have.

I highly recommend HandMensch Remodeling! From our first meeting, Lenny impressed me with his knowledge and attention to detail. My project was to remove a wet bar in the family room, and extend that space into a closet directly behind it creating a walk-in pantry with a tile floor, closed by a sliding barn door. In the family room, faux beams were to be removed, and recessed lighting installed. Finally, the room was to be painted including walls, trim, and ceiling. From our initial consult, I was impressed with Lenny's attention to detail. I had received one other estimate of the work, and the other contractor did not notice half of the issues/details Lenny found. The work was completed quickly, safely (masks worn by all!), with incredible attention to detail. The work is flawless, with shelf brackets lining up with grout lines. I could not be happier with the work done and cannot wait to hire his team to re-do my kitchen!
